Abegiii let me hear word. Is it not embarrassing to you as a parent (assuming you are) that your 10 year old and 13 year old cannot be useful to himself or herself talk less of tidying up her parents home. What are you saying sef. Una no dey shame

So I can't show off my latest 20 carat gold chain in owanmbe and shoe and bag to match because of one child.

Even the Bible says train up your child

Make u park well jare. How many 10 years and 13 years old can take care of themselves and the home in the absence of their parents. Remember these kids don't live in Nigeria, they must have been pampered. So you support that hopeless woman who went partying across the continent. I hope you will not behave like the said woman. If what she did was right, she wouldn't have been arrested and her kids taken away. Make you behave well jare.

On vals day, My neighbour took his wife away for the night
Weeks before he had asked my older son to please take his dog for walkies
My neighnour and his wife left at noon on Saturday and got back at noon on Sunday
My kid walked the dog at 5pm and again at 10pm
My neighbours family member also came on Sunday morning to walk the dog
This is just a dog and for one night
Talk less of leaving kids at home by themselves for 3 weeks.

[s]Another Segun will come,a better one self [/s]...
That's is why motherhood is not for irresponsible women.
If you want to still go to every party, simply send the kids to their father or don't give birth to any child.

Maybe not 18,if it was a 16 and 15 years old left for 3 days yes but a week is also madness.

Absolutely.. But I think you kinda misunderstand me. I do not endorse the woman's action in any way. So don't get your parenting advice grin I will never leave my kids alone in the house even at 15. My dog goes to doggy daycare every week days sef. I don't condone any irresponsible act of sort.

Caman Sharap there Mr international man. So 10 and 13 cannot sleep alone in the house unsupervised bet they know how to sneak out of the house under their mothers nose at night to go clubbing. They know how to inflate their age because of their stature that doesn't look their age so they can enter club. As far as I am concerned they are not too small to be left alone for weeks. As a matter of fact it's the 13 year old that should be managing the 10 year old and play the role of big sister. No wonder they behave like robots. Hiaannn

Babes what are you saying. A 13 year old some where in Nigeria is managing a home cooking and cleaning as well as taking care of her infants. If you train your children well why can't you leave them at home for months and trust that they will manage the kids. At 10 I was fetching water from the well and carrying it home. Long distances. All these over rotten kids that cannot clean and cook and take care of themselves because their mother is not around is appalling

This is some serious ajepako thing. grin

Hmm that's not true.

Many Igbo folks like owanbe parties.
I didn't even know aso-ebi was a Yoruba thing until I grew up because I grew up seeing it at all weddings trad and white alike.

Those days in lagos. See Igbos at owanbe parties on our street. Invited or not grin

I don't know why its even being seen as an 'abroad' or 'west' thing. undecided

Even in Nigeria i know people don't take children to parties but children are left with adults to supervise even at 10 or 13..

I think my own parents were a tad bit overprotective but most people that I knew growing up always had an adult in the house even at 15/16.there will sha be one grandma or aunty.

I got into university at 16/17 and I remember my dad following me to queue up for registration grin grin by the 3rd day I told him I will find my way because it was just getting embarassing.

So me I don't get all this 'oyinbo' or 'abroad' children ish. undecided

The state of the house is not an even an issue perse cos who knows the house might always look like that even with mum there..(i have watched enough how clean is your house to know some people live in filth) that one was just to 'add pepper' for social services.I know someone who social services added her daughter's hair always looking ratchet to part of her child neglect allegations. Once those people are on your case EVERYTHING is an issue.

Lol, I always say it here I prefer to go to Yoruba parties. I wont be surprised if I'm in one youtube owanbe clip. grin tongue
As for sewing uniform, my mum would only sew a uniform during Igbo village meetings. For weddings she would wear what she likes. My dad doesn't even have a traditional wear, lol. I think it's recent Igbo people are imbibing some color code into weddings too, only the bride or groom used to coordinate or maybe the maidens following the bride. Igbos are not strict on the asoebi thing.
I've seen Yoruba wear asoebi for a 6 year old doing her birthday, wear a different asoebi for sunday thanksgiving...these are the things we find weird, I wont lie. grin grin grin In my mind I'm like hanhan it's not that serious. lol.

This story is a bit old. The woman allegedly left the boys with her brother or asked him to stop and check on them. The brother would drop off food instead of checking on his nephews. He went a whole week without even showing up at their place.

No wonder NIGERIANS don't have a problem bringing children from the village to come raise their children in the city. Imagine sambarry trying to justify this nonsense. Why weren't you sold to the highest bidder at 13 years of age after all at that age you could rule the world.
How can I be sold off at 13. I am just using a 13 year old girl getting married as an illustration to make you see that they are not as small as you think they are. That's my point. If a 13 year old girl at the north who's an illiterate is taking care of a home and a baby ALONE without any mummy coming to supervise how come her counterpart in UK cannot cook for her self and her sister and also keep the home clean in their mom's absence for just few weeks

Of course they are very well trained and i will make sure i am there for them in and out. They don't need to ask me if they should put sugar or not, they already know what is good and bad, when it is enough or not-you know why? cheesy
Because mummy was there and will be there to teach them and make sure they are responsible adults kiss kiss

Sambarry joke apart, not every child who cater for themselves end up good. All these touts you have in Lagos where are they from? cheesy
Being there for your child does not equate to spoiling them.We won't always be there all the time for them,so any chance you get to be with your kids, grab it!
Do you know how dangerous houses abroad are? the gas alone is a danger that needs a grown up around in case of an accident.

What if those kids on the heater or cooker and forget to switch them off?and i think that is the more reason their mother did not leave the heater for them, she knows the risk involved.

No one said you should not go to parties, you need to know what is necessary or not. They are certain things we all want to do in a certain time in our life,we don't do them not because we can't but because we evaluate our surroundings and make sure no one will be affected if we decide to do so.
