How do I monitor the mortality of my fish in an earthen pond??

I stocked my earthen pond with 800 juveniles last Friday but i noticed they hardly finish a tin of coppens at a time. I feed them twice a day.

My friend doesnt intend to put net in his pond as he believes d walls are high enough. my farm(nt yet started ) is adjacent to his and i intend to put nets. i dont want hawks preying on my fish or feeding frogs dt find there way to d pond with my hard earned money.

Advice your friend to put a net because of predators, if e doesn't he will learn the hard way lol.when feeding u don't need to remove the net as the feed passes through the net.

I visit my pond today and d pond not to far from my pond av been net but what I notice is that they av lime d pond but they haven't stock fish.I saw a big snake hanging on net of pond,d net they used is strong it's a cotton net d snake is big .infact it surprise me when I see d snake hanging .even in my pond there are some lizards hanging on d net d reptiles find it difficult to go into d pond to eat d fish because of d safety net .d net should be applied when preparing a pond oooooooooooooo.
it's not costly it's around #3,000 to #4000 depending on d size. I feed them today with d net on top so it's advisable to use net ooooo in order to prevent predators and reptiles to comes in Cos' u don't know d environment u situated ur pond oooooo.

nothing to laugh at, some of us are learning(including me), d holes in d net will let feeds through, u dont need to remove d net to feed

I was thinking there is a way we know if fish are dying without counting fishes in the pond.
This is just for the purpose of daily record keeping and to be able to estimate the profit before harvest.

@juve farms, is it this pond dt u reared the pure hetero?
u said the juveniles are gotten from the wild, is there no way to spawn it artificially as other catfish as hybrid and clarias? what is d stocking density for hetero? ie, from d ones u hv farmed so far, hw many hetero do u put in what size of earthen pond? wat ia d depth of the pond u use for hetero? is their feed same as other species? do u stock d male and females together? what other success factors need to be in place.
plz tell me more abt farming hetero? a friend is abt to go into hetero and i need to be making useful inputs into his farm. He has sucessfully farmed the other types and now taking a big step.into.hetero.

@fish farmers in d house, i saw d quote of dried instestine and d price looks good compared to commercial feed. its actually uaed to farm pigs. has anyone tried using this for catfish?

daily record wont be easy in earthen pond, for concrete,u will stress your fishes if daily sorting, though in concrete when u change water u see skulls to count if any, more importantly do not count your birds b4 they hatch,face gd mgt & u will get good result
