Monitoring Dollar Rate Ourselves (CLOSELY) by Stanley08(m): 7:59pm On Feb 28, 2015 |
It's not news that the naira is no longer as strong as it was say 6 months ago, if at all we could call that strong. Anyways the purpose of this thread is for us to monitor closely, the actual exchange rate of the dollar and pounds. This is to help most of us that do alot of buying online know where the rate is at or at least have an idea before paying for anything online. Personally, the last time i bought something online (Dec 2014), i was charged $200 on the dot and what i had in mind was somewhere around 185 ish. These goods were already paid for so I couldn't actually go back to the clients and ask for a raise. Lol. (That was a joke incase u missed it). Anyways I ended up losing alot of money but on the bright side, I was Father Christmas to my clients as i bought those things and supplied them out of my own pocket. :p So here is how this thread would run. (If the idea is ever met with warmth). When you make a purchase online, of course you divide the amount in the alert you got from ur bank by the amount in dollars or pounds. This is common knowledge, but still. Then u post in the format below Date: 28th February (or just write today if it is) BANK: Ecobank CARD TYPE: MasterCard Currency: $ Rate: 217.5 Well, there it is. Cheers! 12 Likes |

ozor1: Actually i have Access Bank account from Ghana and a visa card even and they always got good rates even there. And it's not ths first time someone recommended them. Also, i have plans to get a GT too. One at a time. Plus it's not possible for one bank to always always have the best rates. The idea is having as many options as possible. |

Stanley08: Hmmm, Access bank? Your money is not safe there. Wait till you hear my gist besides they all have double charges, there is always what they call settlement at the end of any transaction. That settlement junction is only noticed by people with eagle eyes except that one will claim no hidden charges. |

Re: Monitoring Dollar Rate Ourselves (CLOSELY) by Stanley08(m): 2:15pm On Mar 05, 2015 |
I called one of their branches around my area and the requirements are 1. Idenfication (Any of National ID, Voters Card, Diver's License, International Passport). 2. Proof of Address (Nepa bill or water bill not older than 3 months) 3. 2 recent passport photographs 4. Minimum of 2,000 naira, as 1,000 is operating fee of the account and the other 1K is for ur ATM card. But i asked for both Visa and Verve cards and Internet banking, so the guy said it was 3,100 for everything. I'll just use 4 or 5K. Dats about it |
