For the past two years no one has been judged worthy of the Mo Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership. Today that may—or may not—change. The prize, of $5m over ten years and then $200,000 a year for life, is meant to be awarded to a retired African leader who has improved the lot of his people and not clung on to power when no longer wanted. Since the first award (in 2007, to Mozambique’s ex-president, Joaquim Chissano) the prize, established by Mo Ibrahim, a Sudanese telecoms billionaire, has been won only twice. Not awarding it has enhanced its credibility; but a third successive blank year may prompt suspicions that the required standard is unrealistically high. If there is to be a winner, the favourite is Mwai Kibaki, who stepped down as president of Kenya in 2013. But he was ignored last year. Award for what? Jonathan already holds the Award as the most Corrupt president in Nigeria. Also his administration is one of the deadliest.

This is campaign period. Lets not go into that. As far as i am concerned the opposition could be worse. This put forward the benefit ahead of a government centered of its people. Alot to gain

The president called me and said my post influenced his decision to call GMB to congratulate him and that he is been considered for the award.
