PDP has ruled Nigeria for Sixteen years with nothing to show for it, lets Give APC a chance and see what they can offer. If they fumble after their first four years in office, we vote them out and vote in a new government. Thats the beauty of democracy
APC has ruled Lagos state for 16 years with nothing to show for it. Let's give PDP a chance and see what they can offer.

Below is a magazine cover depicting the rotten state of electricity more than a year after Buhari violently disrupted our democracy.

the colonialists (europe,america,white-people),will never allow a black-nation to become strong!!!!

before you can get all this things (electric, water, sanitation, transportation),YOU NEED A STRONG ARMY!!!

china and russia understand this...prayers and jesus christ is not going to solve this problem...

we have to become like china and russia..

dont forget what happend to gadhaffi, when he tried....YOU NEED A STRONG ARMY!!!

I think you should be more objective.

The bidding and sale of the DISCOs and GENCOs was advertised in the national dailies and I personally watched the bidding process on AIT which was quite transparent.

I also know that Sahara Power (of Sahara oil & gas), one of the biggest buyers & owned by a private individual, has a large stake in this industry and no corporation which spent money to acquire such facilities will allow it to waste.(They've recruited hundreds of graduates and experienced hands at IKEDC, Egbin, Omoku,... in 2014 alone).

There's a lot of ongoing reforms in the power industry but years of rot may require us to wait a bit longer for the dividends to show.

We can't stop complaining about epileptic power supply because, like the boko haram case, we have insiders denying us of the light.

These are some if my Identified insiders denying us of electricity.

1. POLITICIANS. I remember some times back when I was still in my vlla. We hadly had light 6 hours a day, But Anytime this my villa first son visits, we are sure of 22 hours of light. Its like they are reserving the light for his visit.

2. VIEWING CENTER OPERATORS. This got me thinking whether those operating a football viewing centers are staff of electricity distribution company. Hardly can you see light when there is any foothball match going on just like now. They always switch the light of so you would go and watch the match in a viewing center.

3. Filling Stations and Generator Deallers. These people must be spending heavily on Electricity Distributors to ensure that their stock doesn't stay longer than expected. They are doing a great job in extorting from Nigerians the money they don't have.

4. MULTI-NATIONAL COMPANIES. These people ensure that they receive the larger ration of the unavailabe power suply causing those with less bribe bargaining power to starve of electricity.

5. VANDALS. These are people who discovered a better way of using government property to their profit. What do they need light for when they can out some money into their pocket, courtesy of unprotected NEPA property. They have to make the better choice of risking their lives to extract something from Government
Very intelligent article. The accuracy of the claims however is another matter.

It's the DUTY of the masses to demand accountability and responsibility from their leaders.

The masses shoulder the GREATER blame.
You are absolutely right.

The masses also need to be responsible and accountable. The sheer number of people using electricity illegally is mind-bugling.

From meter bypassing to downright tapping of electricity. And we want stable light.

Incase u every TRULY REASONABLE person should know
something is FISHY.
Questions for Jonathan and PDP
1. Why was (is) "Boko Haram" busy destroying
states and areas that the opposition party will
win convincingly in the presidential election?
2. If we are to believe that the opposition were
the brains and architects of "Boko Haram",
then why is it that they have never ever
attacked and destroyed any prominent PDP
figure or their properties?
3. If the opposition have the capability of
arming "terrorists" with armour tanks, RPGs,
AA Guns, military uniforms, military trucks,
helicopters and the ability to command
soldiers to vanish from military checkpoints,
wouldn't they have targeted to destroy PDP
strongholds and their assets?
4. Why would the opposition seek to destroy
their own strongholds anyway? To achieve
what?
5. Why was (is) "Boko Haram" targeting to
destroy basically only prominent northern
politicians and their traditional rulers and their
communities?
6. In the light of questions 1 to 5 above, why
has there been a deliberate campaign of lies
and propaganda by the PDP and their religious
wing that collect bribes in billions of naira that
"Boko Haram" is the baby of the opposition?
7. Of all the cars used by "suicide" bombers
retrieved from the scene of their attacks, to
whom were the cars traced after forensic
investigations? Why is it that nothing is ever
heard after such evidences have been collated
at the scenes since 2011?
8. At the last count, over 500 hundred "Boko
Haram" suspects have been in detention since
2009, but why is it that government hasn't
been able to come clean on those sponsoring
the "terrorists", and why is it that, with such a
huge treasure trove, government has not been
able to know and curtail the operational
methods of the "terrorists"?
9. Why did the "terrorists" become stronger
after a scandalous 33 billion dollars (over 4
trillion naira) was expended on the so called
war against them?
10. Why was it that, at a point from 2013, the
Nigerian military was not taking the war to
"Boko Haram" camps in the deserts of the
northeast instead of waiting for "Boko Haram"
to come on the offensive?
11. Since when has repulsion become the best
form of defence instead of attack?
13. Why did "Boko Haram" have the most
freedom to operate and destroy so many
towns and villages during all the period of
State of Emergency that was supposed to have
made them immobile?
14. Was the State of Emergency some fraud
pulled off to empower the "terrorists" and
make the targeted communities sitting ducks
for easy elimination?
15. Who was providing "Boko Haram" with fuel
and other logistics in their camps considering
how they easily move with long convoys of
trucks to operate without challenge?
These are not the only questions.... There are
many more. But they've not been able to answer
any of these, rather they always want
to heap their scheme on others. These questions
and many more could be the reason they are
mortally scared of losing political power.
did not notice, serious ppl r discussing here. Please take ur cartwheel to d village square.

Good one OP,this remind me of PHED in Obigbo Rivers state.dat collected some amount of cash from filling stations during xmas just to frustrate the masses.it shall never be well with these so called PHED in Oyigbo Rivers state.Like I said earlier this peoples' activities with light would make People(Masses) hate this present government More(APC as in state level and PDP as in federal level)because both has failed in their various fields.

There will NEVER be a time in human history when they have NO CHOICE. Humans always do; they always simply take the path of least resistance.

No human government is omnipotent. Government only thrives on the division, fear and timidity of the masses. We can effect ANY change if we're willing to stick our very existence for it.

As long as the masses keep paying for amenities lacking in supply, don't expect any meaningful improvement. We must hold our leaders accountable.

There's time for everything. A time to pray, and a time to PROTEST
I agree with much of what you said.

The one exception I have is with your claim that there is a time to pray.

There is never a time to pray. Prayer is an act of fear, cowardice and hopelessness.

I hope you know that power sector has been privatised. Ot is not government property any more. A kind of.
The government is still a regulatory and law enforcement body charged to enforce laws, arrest and prosecute offenders and regulate businesses both public and private.

Ignorance and lack of any form of understanding per government responsibilities and obligations is you peoples problem. Its not even by force to disgrace yourself on the internet..

Whao. A hard punch.

If it is easy to regulate them now that it is privatised, don't you think it would have been easier to regulate, prosecute and enforce what ever you mean while it was still government property.

You see, it not about knowing the law. Its about the people obeying the law but I don't think they are ready to do that. The people is the government and the government can not prosecute herself.

Ok Mr. Lucky one. Have you done any special thing to ensure power is available to the zone you control. I am asking because in my area, we the inhabitants and users of electricity are responsible to repairs and replacement of any damaged equipment. We contribute miney to repair transformer, replace damaged poles and reconect disconnected cables. We have to pay your staff or colleagues to do their job.

Hope you are benefiting from our contributions too.

C'mon bro, we just got recruited as graduate trainees and are still on NAPTIN training. There's also a lot of reorientation about what is expected of workers here (no longer govt. work as usual).

BTW, I had to leave when I got a better offer elsewhere.

One thing is sure:
There's no going back on the privatization of the power sector (which is what we've all been clamoring for). With time, just like the telecom industry, the benefits will start to show.

In the meanwhile, there's a lot if ongoing work to revive existing 'dead' facilities and procure new ones.

Yours sounds like mental apathy and not normalcy.

Before or after privatisation, the government and the laws of Nigeria remains in tact and supersedes private and public entities. The government's inability to arrest the situation means incompetence, dereliction, abdication of authority and even collusion.
