Please my fellow nairalanders, what could make a fairly used car's kick starter to pack up, barely 4 months of purchase, before then the check engine signal on the dashboard had been on, I did a diagnostic that showed, a faulty catalyst... After sometime the kick starter just spoilt,

Please fellow nairalanders, could there be a relationship between these Two? What could be the most likely cause of this?

There's no relationship, buy another starter motor, or have yours fixed properly.

The kick starter of my sienna gave way barely 3 months after purchase, I just had to fix another one. Tokunbo cars are not perfect one fixing or the other has to be done and the parts could fail anytime.

Having a faulty kick-starter can be really frustrating. The only remedy is to replace it, don't even bother repairing it.

a toks starter motor is as unpredictable as the one that came with your car. if i buy a toks starter i usually open to check how much material is left on the carbon brushes so i dont trade in 1 problem for another.

Thank you all for your informations and suggestions, I so much appreciate, I have changed the kickstarter though, but just wanted to find out, if there was any relationship. Moreso, immediately I changed d kickstarter, d check engine light on my dashboard disappeared .

It will come back battery was disconnected, so all the errors were cleared from memory get a personal scanner.
