coogar:Some people actually keep sniper rifles in their homes to take out armed robbers from above. |

Ikwokrikwo:You made sense jare... except if its only one tall building around and if not how would they know the entry and exit wound. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by 190theclown: 1:49pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Ikwokrikwo: I completely agree with you An american sniper would mark those 3 targets and within 3 seconds take each and every one of them out Coogar clearly underestimates the power of Snipers Maybe he should see Captain phillips ![]() BTW why dont we have snipers in Nigeria Opps i forgot we dont even have good buildings where they can launch their shots ![]() |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by coogar: 1:49pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Ikwokrikwo:so you don't think it depends on the skill level between the robbers & the sniper? before the sniper would assemble his weapon, find a good spot, etc the robbers would be gone. even if a good sniper was already in place, he would consider the consequences before shooting. this is not rambo or commando! a lot of people would die if he misses. 190theclown:you watch too many movies. ![]() |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by Ikwokrikwo: 1:51pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
coogar:You are right on it being a very delicate situation. When I said finding their target, you would agree with me that even the robbers will be happier if they can concenterate on the sniper who actually has the weapon to eliminate them rather than waste their bullets on harmless people, that is why security agents are always their targets. The shooting around would be out of desperation and trial and error. From what I saw in that video, there weren't really many people around for them to kill. Most had ran away already. They would have probably destroyed buildings and empty cars. |

coogar:What I was trying to say is, it will be almost impossible for 1 guy to shoot upward with an M60 machine gun. You need like 2 or 3 guys to operate that gun. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by 190theclown: 1:53pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Ikwokrikwo: There are some snipers that are so silent when shot that you can take a bird fly across the government house in Enugu all the way from lagos, Trust me some snipers are so trained that they could take out those 3 men with 3 straight shots from 12miles ![]() In my next life, I defo wanna be a sniper trained by the American or Russian forces ![]() |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by coogar: 1:53pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Ikwokrikwo:the range of that gun is about 3km. nah, there are plenty of targets for them to aim at. there must be people in those surrounding buildings. all they need to do is to find a cover & they would evade the so called sniper. they have the superior firearm! Khabuqi:they don't have to be accurate..... he has 100 rounds to spare - they would just use the scatter gun approach. aim at the general direction of the sniper & they might get lucky. whereas the sniper has to be dead accurate for his own safety. ![]() |

JeffreyJamez:That is one thing one cannot answer.. We don't even know if there are well recorded unit of ammunition in dis country.. because d county is no longer safe anymore. |

coogar:Please don't argue much, you need knowledge. From experience a sniper is often tagged*the enemy's worst nightmare* A trained sniper can slow down an infantry from advancement. One trained sniper; would upset the robbery. He has the vantage point and a weapon that can kill anywhere it touches the body . In hostage situations, snipers are engaged before negotiation. Once they get a visual they take you out. Please stop the argument. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by coogar: 1:58pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
190theclown:the job of the sniper is the easiest - what they are commended for is their limitless perseverance & not their accuracy. the gun is modified to aid their job. the range is huge; they have a dead accurate telescope to mark their targets. wetin remain? ![]() any of us here can be a sniper. if you don't believe me, grab a copy of call of duty. ![]() charles009:at what cost? |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by VolvoS60(m): 1:59pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Some real rifle enthusiasts here. Some posters here are definitely hardcore. I had no idea one of the rifles in the video footage was belt fed. All along I thought they were regular Kalashnikovs. I passed through the area today - the bank is counting its losses and people are trying to get their lives back to normal. Apparently the young girl selling fish was quite well known in the area. The policemen who died were also being mourned by sympathizers. ![]() A newspaper stand near the scene of the crime had some spirited debate on the incident and one troubling conclusion came out after discussion of the videos and pictures: the next set of bandits will probably aim random shots at high buildings to discourage anyone from attempting to record or film. The other troubling thing from the videos is the number of people running for dear life after the first shots were fired. Although instinct kicks in at a time like this, perhaps it would be better to just lie flat once the bullets start flying. Many, many more people would have been killed if those bandits had aimed at random in the direction of those fleeing the scene. We have a serious problem on our hands. These guns are everywhere. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by Ikwokrikwo: 2:00pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
coogar:There were a lot of obstructions in the vicinity, cars, buildings etc. At worst people in those buildings would have been injured by crashing glasses and sorts. They cannot take cover and still shoot sporadically at the same time. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by Ikwokrikwo: 2:02pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
charles009:That says it all |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by coogar: 2:03pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Ikwokrikwo:they would shoot sporadically as they are entering the building to find cover. it's all theoretical though but the skill level is the key. we often think robbers are always clueless idiöts that don't know what they are doing - it's a fatal assumption. what makes you think these guys aren't ex-military boys or mercenaries hired by a big chief? pamcode:you are more concerned about the safety of the sniper - what about the safety of the civilians? when robbers lose a gang member in an operation, what's their general reaction? ![]() |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by pamcode(m): 2:03pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
coogar:common coogar a sniper should have a silencer attached to his gun so as to make his location difficult besides i doubt if those guys are trained men, they can only shoot |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by Nobody: 2:04pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
coogar:All the sniper needs to do is to take out the guy holding the machine gun. You don't expect the other 2 to pick up the machine gun and start shooting. That only happens in movies. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by 190theclown: 2:06pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
coogar: Typical coogar ![]() But you know its not just about the gun, its range, snipers could be trained to watch the direction of the wind# and calculate the movements of their targets, Trust me its not as easy as it looks Maybe someday i would be able to snipe BABE away from u back into my arms ![]() |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by coogar: 2:07pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Khabuqi:like i have told you, these guys aren't cult boys. if they happen to be mercenaries, they would stroll to the machine gun, examine the wound suffered by the dead robber, assess the direction of the bullet and aim in the general direction. my $5 says they would get lucky after the 50th catridge has been dispensed. ![]() 190theclown:the gun does 99% of the job.... however, their perseverance is unparalleled. a sniper can maintain one position for 3 days without moving. no food, no water, no movement for plenty of hours. that is the skill they get praised for - not exactly the pulling of the trigger. how many people would miss a stationary object in a magnified cross-hair. the telescope has done most of the job. just squeeze(not pull) the trigger and you would register the kill. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by 3kay945(m): 2:10pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Khabuqi:The robbers are many i guess, so with the quality of that M60 i dont think they would want to leave it behind. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by 190theclown: 2:10pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
VolvoS60: But even the charlie Harbo terrorist attack in paris was well filmed Ive got over 3 copies of that attack with me, Its got nothing to do with people filming the attack the robbers came for one thing which was to rob, they dont care if they are being filmed as long as they dont see you or you point the thing in their faces, anyways its a situation we all dont wanna find ourselves May God continue to protect us in these trying times. .. RIP to the dead |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by coogar: 2:13pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
3kay945:they cannot leave that weapon behind! it serves them a purpose - to scare the devil out of anyone that might want to engage them in a shootout. no police force would sanction a shootout with such a weapon in the heart of a city. this is not sambisa forest. too many civilians would be dead. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by Nobody: 2:14pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
coogar:Bros you be armed robber ![]() |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by charles009(m): 2:15pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
coogar:You guys bemuse me. I worked in Libya with red cross during the uprising. Often times we go to remove the dead and wounded. Even with bolded red crosses on our head. You can sense the fear when one shot is fired and the American marines guarding the team starts running helter shelter screaming *sniper shot fired* I was awed so I had to enquire more and I engaged a colonel who told me about the use of a sniper. Though he kept some certain aspects of their training classified. There is little to know about the trajectory of the weapon that was fired . In three quick succession shots, those robbers would have no time to survive. Trust me, a sniper is that deadly . That's why not everyone is qualified to be one. It's the riskiest job too. Once you give away your location, you are dead meat |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by coogar: 2:15pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
Khabuqi:you dey craze ![]() charles009:isn't that what i have been telling you all along? it depends on the skill level. if the robbers are just run of the mill boys then of course, the sniper wins. if these boys are well trained mercenaries or part of the batallion that ran RUF out of liberia/sierra leone then the sniper should start saying his last prayers. |

deskossy:THREE MBU'S MEN DIED ......HOW MANY ROBBERS WILL DIE IN THE NEXT 7 DAYS ....BECAUSE MBU EARLIER SAID THAT IF ANY CIVILIAN KILL ONE OF HIS MEN 20 CIVILIAN WILL GO ...BASE ON MBU THEORY ... 1 POLICE TO DIE = 20 CIVILIANS TO BE SHUT 3 POLICE MEN DIED = 60 CIVILIANS WILL GO IF 1 GOOD CIVILIAN = 10 ARMED ROBBERS THEN 10*20 = 200 ROBBERS....FROM THE PERMUTATION , 1 POLICE MAN DIED =200 ROBBERS IF MBU CAN WORK ACCORDING TO HIS THEORY ....3 POLICE MEN DIED 600 ARMED ROBBERS NEED TO GO BY NEXT 1 WEEK ...WATCH OUT FOR MBU RESPONSE THANK GOD THAT THE ROBBERY HAPPENED FEW MINUTES AHEAD THE CLOSING HOURS ......THE CASE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO SERIOUS .. ..ALL THE POLICE MEN AROUND THE LEKKI AREA ARE PURELY OLE POLICE -- THEIR REGULAR JOB IS TO ARREST PEOPLE TO GET MONEY FROM THEM ... THEY LACK FOCUS FOR ANY EMERGENCY ATTACK .....WAS JUST UNFORTUNATE THAT THOSE POLICE MEN KILLED WERE JUST ESCORTING CIVILIAN BUS OUT OF LEKKI ... I FIND NO REASON WHY THOSE ROBBERS ESCAPE .....EVER SINCE I AV BEEN WORKING IN LEKKI .. HEAVY ROBBERY CASES USUALLY ESCAPE THRU THE WATER WAY ...SO WHY THEY CAN NOT GO AFTER THEM WITH 15 MINUTES ..WATER WAY IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO GET THOSE ROBBER ARREST ..... IF MY friend in mainland can get information about the robbery while the robbery is still active ...so my contry police waited for them to go .. it took upto 40 mintes after the robbryy before they shown up ...just painful an innocent girl was affected ...IF WILL LIKE WAKING THE GIRL UP FROM DIED WHEN I SAW IT OB=N THE FLOOR ......GOD NEED TO MAKE BEST WAY TO REVERT SUCH AFFECTED INOCENT DEAD ....I PRAY ...I PRAY .. I PRAY........GOD CAN JUST PLS WAKE HER UP.... |

Khabuqi:That is why I said earlier that the sniper would have had all the advantages: elevation, sight, planning, initiative, and time. |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by Ikwokrikwo: 2:22pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
3kay945:Do you think the sniper will be quieltly watching them go and pick it up? Hell no! Ditto coogar |
| Re: Video: Robbery In Lekki Phase 1 Estate Lagos by Nobody: 2:22pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
coogar:Come to think of it, an m60 in a robbery is a fúcked up situation. Those guys are not regular robbers. They are probably militants that came with Jonathan to Lagos ![]() I also heard General Boyloaf is in town. Na him boys be dat. |
