Listen to this all knowing Olodo! The people you have mentioned created mediums for the internet. They did not create the internet and are not known for engaging in political chitty-chatty on the internet. Your "big money" dont impress me, you are a Nigerian and 99.999% of rich people in Nigeria are crooks, government contractors or politician (and their relatives)

Billionaires the world over (Except jungle Africa) can easily point to the source of their wealth and are known by their contribution. Identify your source of wealth to win my respect otherwise go spend your dirty money and dont come here bragging about owning choice cars in a country without roads.

Going back to GEJ, he is no better than my may-guard. and he remains a He-goat, has he addressed the nation about the state of the economy? No! the dollar is N227 today! All these children in our household are going to end up poor.

I am proud of you. You are so smart, you carried out your little research in your little world and come to conclusion that 99.999% of rich people in Nigeria are crooks. Clap for yourself little man. I do not want to argue with you on that. I am sure Nairalanders already know your mental state judging you by that analogy.

Going back to GEJ and exchange rate. The Feds used our foreign reserve when the Brent Crude prices fell to cushion the effect on the economy and the exchange rate due to marginal fluctuation differences in the Exim indices, but we accused the Feds of depleting our foreign reserves. The Federal Government has stop using our Foreign Reserves to regulate the rate. So lets face it now. Dangote has lost half of his fortune. That's the reality we face in an Oil dependent economy. Now, we are facing the reality of the fall in crude price. Let's do the maths, empty head. When brent crude was 120 pb, Naira was 160 to a dollar, so now the brent crude price is 56dpb then you should expect (160 x 2.7 ) = (432 naira to a dollar)to be the exchange rate but the government is still able to control it to 225 at the moment.

Give respect to billionaires.

macpetrus:
Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, says the Almajiri schools being established by the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government in the northern part of the country have no feasible end gains.

Fashola said this at an event on Thursday ─ Support Our Schools Breakfast Meeting with the Governor─ held at the City Hall on the Lagos Island.

The governor explained that the purpose of training someone was for the person to be able to use the knowledge gained and the skills acquired to his benefit and the good of society.

He said that could not be said of the Almajiri schools as they had no competitive advantage for the graduates.

He said, “If you train people to acquire certain skills, you must develop avenue where the skills will be useful and that will be the end gain. For instance, graduates of our technical and vocational colleges will become our major contractors.

“And so, it worries me, what is the end gain of products of the Almajiri schools? Will you put your child there? Will a company looking through its job appraisal consider such graduates from Almajiri schools? What chance will the product of the Almajiri schools have working for multinational companies? Are we giving the children a chance when we segregate them into Almajiri schools? Think about it.”

Fashola said as part of measures to encourage vocational and technical education in the state, his administration had issued over 600 contracts as annual maintenance projects of Lagos schools, adding that graduates of the state’s technical schools were the main beneficiaries.

“We have issued maintenance contract to all our schools. We have issued about 600 contracts of annual maintenance of our schools and they ranged between N2m to N4m per annum. Our graduates in the technical and vocational colleges are the substantial beneficiaries of the contracts. We now want to ensure that every school in Lagos has regular and uninterrupted power supply,” he added.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Olayinka Oladunjoye had expressed government’s gratitude to organisations that embraced the ‘Support our school’ initiative, saying the support had contributed to the success of the Fashola’s administration in the educational sector.

When did Fashola descend this low?
When did I start losing respect for this once-likeable governor-turned-errand-boy?
Anyway, when you roll in the mire, you become playmates with pigs.
By the way, the almajiri school is a help in the right direction for millions of homeless and hopeless kids roaming around the streets of North.
Something your dearest geriatric and the northern oligarchy that you have become a puppet for should have done in their more than 35 years of misrule.

so at least he did something for the almajiris and no sane person would expect the almajiris to suddenly become engineers and lawyers in one year..
Maybe they should send some to your puppeteer in Bordillon and let's see how he rehabilitates them with his stolen billions..
butt -boy governor

For fashola to say this it means either of two things; he'd never seen almajaris roaming the streets in the north or he is a ruthlessly wicked man that would prefer does young kids to roam the streets n eat from the dust bins.

Fashola i really like you but the way you are going is really becoming embarassing.please ask yourself this few questions
1. What were the almajiri's doing before the schools were built?
2. What has the northern elite done over the years concerning the almajiri's?
3. Would it have been better if the schools were not built atall and this children be allowed to continue being used as a tool for violence?
4. Has the saying 'no knowledge gained is waste' all of a sudden become null and void because you want to oppose as an opposition that you are?
You sir should know that knowledge frees the mind from mental slavery and we all know that some subjects has been added to their curricculum such as integrated science, maths etc which if this was done about two decades ago there would be a high probability that this issue of boko haram will not exists.
Please sir always try to compare from various angles before you speak.you are not perfect,Gej is not perfect, buhari is not perfect but i'll still vote GEJ cause he made a move to give those children a better life.

Thank you.

I think Fashola is now a confused fellow. I shouldn't be surprised. He belongs to APC

ASSOCIATION OF PROPAGANDIST CONFUSIONIST

The job of a good opposition party who want to form a future government is to acknowledge and appreciate what the present government has done.

What did all the past leaders including the one's from the North did about providing these type of schools or education. Nada. Nilch

The graduates of those schools may not have employment today like some of their counterparts in the south but with the education and skills gained they have a better future.

I think Fashola is unsure of his future that he just open his mouth and say anything. Shame on a SAN

From my understanding, Almajiri schools are just like our Primary Schools over here but with Islamic studies and basic maths, science etc. What can a kid do after Primary Education ? Simply put, it is the bedrock for continuation of Education.

Jonathan did not stop at building 150 Almajiri schools, he went ahead to build 9 new Universities in the North in addition to the existing ones, these are also meant for kids that will graduate from the Almajiri schools to seek further education.

I think Fashola has over the years become maligned and unreasonable, sometimes it beats my imagination why a person will hate progress of other tribes. He deported Igbos and Hausas sometimes ago, calling them social nuisance and misfits to Lagos, now he is kicking against Education of the kids in the North by the Federal Government.

The truth in life is, you can make all the money, you can steal all the money, you can buy happiness, but you can not buy a reputation. You build a reputation. Fashola has unfortunately built a biased reputation and even the Yorubas will somehow state clearly that Fashola's legacy has been dwarfed by his senseless vituperation.
He was boasting of giving out 600 contracts to the products of his school.

But I am sure that if you look closely enough, you would probably discover that the so-called contracts went through an "iyaloja" or "babaloja" related to him or to the National Landlord, Tinubu. That is the drain pipe/conduit they use to inflate contracts and milk Lagos dry.

The first and most important gain of basic education is not skills acquisition. Non of us acquired any skill in primary school.

the most important gain is to give the child a basic foundation for life. to open their minds to modern society and give them the ability to reason independently and rationally. Even boko haram knows this that is why they hate it. Since Fashola doesnt know this, then its sad to say he is an olodo

what he's saying is that the quality of the schools are far below what can empower an individual towards achieving anything meaningful in life. As for your talk on 9 universities, pls post pictures of the universities or keep quiet cos they only exist on newspapers. Check their shoddy websites for confirmation.

I respect Fashola a lot. But these days, it's like the man has lost his sense of reasoning and it's like his thinking faculty is being beclouded so as to score some political cheap points. What Fashola did not realize with this comment of his is that he is indirectly casting an aspersion on the candidacy of Buhari and some of the Northern political leaders in APC that they have not done enough to see to the educational needs of the Almajiri's in their respective domain. We must give kudos to the effort made by GEJ's administration for doing this. Let APC engage in issue base campaign and stop looking for cheap popularity.

If yes can you please tell us your findings, maybe that will help our collective intelligence and criticism of the govt and the opposition.

because whatever they learn at their formation stage will go along way as you and i know.
