It’s Difficult To Probe Ekiti Audio Tape Saga Without Key Witness –Jonathan

In a bid to explain why it was hard to institute a probe into the controversial audio tape from the Ekiti State, governorship election, President Goodluck Jonathan explained that the inability of Sagir Koli, the army Captain who leaked the Ekiti-rigging audiotape, to come forward and authenticate the tape, has made it difficult to proceed with the investigation.
Jonathan was quoted as saying that upon his inquiry from the head of the Department of State Security (DSS), whether an investigation was ongoing on the tape, he was told that investigation was stalled on grounds that Koli was not available to defend the content of the tape. Koli had fled after he got a hint of plans to arrest him by army hierarchy.

Jonathan said, “In fact, when this story came up, I asked the DG, Department of State Security Service if they had investigated the matter and they told me that they had instigated an investigation, and then called for the person who claimed he recorded it and that he disappeared and nobody can reach him,” Mr Jonathan said.
“There was no formal petition before them but because of the general interest, they wanted to have him interviewed to know where this was coming from. If someone comes up with a spurious allegation that has no substance and the person disappears, of course, what do you want me to do? Definitely, anytime we get him, he’ll have to substantiate his allegations.
There is a lot of false stories being circulated and it is very sad,” he added.
Jonathan however admitted that he has not even listened to the tape. Nonetheless, he said the meeting could have held.
But he expressed worry over the high tendency of deceit and manipulation through recording devices.
“I have not watched the video (it is an audio recording, not video). I said that it was a fabrication because, you see, people now, especially with the social media; we could be here and discuss issues and somebody will hack some of our voices and create a story that never happened.
“Therefore I am not saying that the meeting in question was held or not held but the issue of conspiring to rig, I said it was a fabrication,” he said.

Jonathan a very desperate insincere president and a best friend to corruption. If a president can closely embrace impunity even upto this point when he's trying to canvass for votes, then we should know what to expect if ever he is reelected.

Many of us know in our heart of heart that this is not the kind of president we want, unless you're not a true Nigerian or you've let ethnic sentiments and a few naira notes cloud your better judgement.

Looking at the history books of fully formed democracies, our democracy is young and at an evolving stage which explains the imperfections of the PDP & APC. In order to keep evolving, we need to be able to CHANGE! governments till we finally get it right or else we will be on one position forever. This is a fact!

APC may not be a perfect party yet but I say with conviction that things can never be this terrible under General Buhari such that the people will now be taken for granted to a point of derision. Things like impunity, corruption, unaccountability will be on the fast decline.

Let us embrace CHANGE.

GEJ, David Mark, Abaribe and their likes are as bad as they come with regards to corruption. They and their class members will retain the record of the worst and most immoral individuals to have walk the corridors of power in Nigeria and posterity will judge them harshly and their off springs will walk in shame in the land in years to come.
When the Nigerian state has been rescue from these greedy chalattans, we will have law makers who can look back and make laws that forever labels these people as enemies of the state who worked to destroy it for the benefit of their own pockets. Do u need a key witness to investigate a crime? 2. Has any forensic investigation been carried out to authenticate the tape? 3. Why do u need the key witness to authenticate the tape while u can easily give an expect to authenticate it?..By the way, thanks for the correction.. The right step to take after getting the tape is to get an expert who knows is onus in such field to authenticate the tape. if the result prove to be true, the culprit shud be arrested and prosecuted and only then can they call the SgT to testify against the offender...Like I said no where in the world will they need a key witness to investigate a crime

There is a key witness here- The man who claimed he recorded the meeting should come and substantiate the evidence he tendered.

That's a good start to the investigation. Otherwise, its all hogwash!

So what the senate have done with regards to Obanikoro is in order with respect to the laws of the land- you cannot call someone a criminal until proven as such in the court of law.

If its in that case as some APC people are thinking now, why is Buhari still contesting as president after tendering a fake educational certificate. Is that not criminal too?

Someone was recorded on tape blatantly using the Army to rig an election yet no constituted body took it upon themselves to investigate, the President came out to say the tape was doctored without any proof and even went ahead to nominate same guy to return to the ministry he abused. These Senators bring shame to Nigeria!

It is NOT about whether the allegation has been proved in court or not.

The principle is that "We elect Senators to represent our interest".
In a "Ministerial confirmation Scenario", 2/3rds of Senators have to approve someone, to be confirmed as Minister.
That is the ONLY LEGITIMATE CONDITION for CONFIRMATION

When Obanikoro's nomination was rejected the first time, Senate president, David mark who himself is very Anti-Democracy, right form past, staged a coup within the Chambers of the Senate!

David Mark simply changed the rules by "asking senators to vote on whether Obanikoro should be accorded "Waka Pass" or Not!
So, from being refused confirmation, David MArk changed it to "Waka Pass"... a scenario which other Senators rejected and protested against.

In his air of undemocratic impunity, which is the hallmark of the GEJ/PDP administration, David Mark simply approved Obanikoro by himself... without the requisite 2/3rds majority!

As it stands today, Obanikoro is NOT CONFIRMED by the Nigerian Senate as Minister of State for Defense.

He is an impostor to that office and when the time is ripe, he would be jailed for such acts.
Senator David Mark should also be impeached (and then prosecuted) because his acts are treasonable.

My brother, you're wrong. The fact that you aren't aware doesn't mean that nothing is being done...Agencies have to silently do their work and not to advertise daily whenever they cough...When Retired Justice Uwais son left for ISIS fight; that was the point most people knew that security agencies have been on him...Government and governance isn't all about showmanship which most APC governors like Aregbesola; Rochas; Oshiomole etc do...hence pulling wools over the electorates eyes and making them follow sheepishly without questioning...

Finally; on this case, Obanikoro has a case in court. Going by our CONSTITUTION, which we must respect, he remains innocent until convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction. Even the Ekitigate issue isn't enough to stop him until a court of competent jurisdiction says so. NOTE that; if we go by APC mode of reasoning here; staunch APC senators in the house like Senator Danjuma Goje, Senator Saraki and others should also vacate their senate seats because they have cases with EFCC...
