Then when developing your region was paramount, the central government was not so attractive and there was healthy competition among the three regions each developing at there own pace according to their resources.................Nigeria needs to revert back to regionalism we might be better

That was his official residence, its like the equivalent of Aso Rock, for the premier of Northern Nigeria at that time, and not his personal house - pls do a little research before speaking out of ignorance, google is your friend, use it wisely.

Having read ALL the comments before making my own post, a few things stick out glaringly!

1.) As usual, "most" Igbos are showing that if given the opportunity, they will "genocidically erase" all Northerners from Nigeria, their hate for the Northerner is probably worse than the hate they have for Yorubas..... but then, who does the Igbos dont hate?

2.) Most Igbos are very pretentious and like to act like the Ostrich which buries its head. Every single post made by an Igbo... was focused on blaming Ahmadu Bello, the man their kin murdered.
They blame him for building an expensive house when in fact, that house was just an "ordinary storey building".... common among the middle class of those days. My own Grand Dad, a local Doctor/Physician, owned one in our village since the 1940's! You dont have to loot to build that sort of house, in the 50's and 60's. What they do back then is have a "viable business" which brings in money.

3.) Not in one single Post did you see an IGBO person "admit that the "Igbo Coup", which installed an Igbo head of state, by the name Aguiyi Ironsi, was an ETHNIC CLEANSING which murdered EVERY PROMINENT HAUSA in Government and REPLACED THEM WITH IGBO PEOPLE..... and it marked the beginning of the "tribal war" which we are still plunged into, till today!

4.) Not one single post by an Igbo son would admit that that "terrible act of ethnic cleansing" by IGBO SOLDIERS in the Nigerian military, led to a "reprisal Coup" of Northern Soldiers, which in return killed the Igbo head of State, Aguiyi Ironsi...... and eventually led to the Biafran Civil War which decimated the Igbo population.

The problem with most Igbo nowadays is that their young ones dont READ their HISTORY (they would rather hop on a luxurious to Lagos, to come and Hawk!) but only listen to the "word of mouth" from their old folks, who are too ashamed to TELL THEM THE TRUTH, about the initial mistakes they made ....and how it led to their lot in the Nigerian Nation.
Instead, what they tell them is what perpetrates "Ethnic Hatred" further.

Bottom line:
Igbos initiated these spectre of mindless killing and bloody Coups in Nigeria. End of story!

I make bold to say that "the next Presidential election on March 28 is a do or die" affair for President Jonathan... and even more so, the entire IGBOS!
The same "winner-takes-all" ......and "losers-get-buried" attitude and actions they took back then in the early to mid 60's, is EXACTLY what they are doing now whereby "IF" the result does not go their way, then they have no "fall-back and no where else to run to" .... EXCEPT RESULT TO ANOTHER BRAINLESS WAR OF SEPARATION WITH PREDICTABLE RESULT!

Ndigbo as a people and nation, must undergo a paradigm shift in their moral value of "Money is God" and everything is about "short-term gains".

Lets us discuss issues, real issues and not this pettiness that lacks substance.

Lastpage!

Caveat: Lastpage is a Christian and a S/Westerner...... if that has any bearing on the discuss?

dishonesty with facts can be extremely dangerous...i know you have one or two things against igbos from the way you write but never twist facts to suit your mindset..

First there was nothin like south south then as what existed then around where eastern, western, midwestern and northern regions.

Delta and Edo were part of the Midwestern region and not part of the then eastern region that made up the defunct Biafra.

I did NOT and l am NOT twisting "FACTS".
You are correct that the "nomenclature" for the region l referred to, back then was not called South-South.
I used that phrase "now" since that is what those reading TODAY.... in 2015, will relate to.
It still does not change the fact that the Crude Oil l was referring to, was found in Oloibiri, which was NOT in the East (Biafran region) but in the "Niger Delta region" which was also NOT in Igbo land.

I never said Delta and Edo where in the Easter Region!
Read me again.
Infact, Ojukwu, in his "expansionist drive" invaded these areas, looted the Central bank of the Mid Western Region and "annexed" these regions to his Biafra!
So, when the chips were down, the current Delta and Benin/Edo people who align with your Igbo project should and would realize that "they were once conquered by the Igbos and would, if care is not taken, be conquered again..... as long as they have that Crude Oil which Ojukwu was "eyeing in 1965"... and the Igbo is are still eyeing today, in 2015.

As for having "something" against the Igbos, that is just cheap talk!
I did not manufacture what happened between 1960 and 1967.....You might not like the role your people played and still playing but it does not change the facts.
What needs to change is the attitude of those involved.
Recounting history, irrespective of who or which tribe played "Judas" does not equate to enmity or having something against some people.

Truth needs to be told and History needs to be recounted so we can learn from our past mistakes, ... for a better future.

Funnily, if you know me in real life, it will shock you how many of my very close friends are Igbos! shocked
Not the illiterate types, the uninformed and bigoted nuisances who parade nairaland o! wink

Within us, there is no TRIBE or RELIGION and all of us understand our past, the roles played by our past leaders and even more importantly, we are HONEST and MATURED ENOUGH to accept our weaknesses, our failings, our history and are determined not to let those things of the past, (even as we acknowledge and accept them), TO SEPARATE OR UNDERMINE WHAT WE STAND FOR!

But as you say l be Nigga, l don become your Nigga be that Shoo! shocked grin grin
Tell you something, until we accept our past, we will appear to struggle with our future!
No tribe is a saint but some are still trying to deny their past.... just to appear as the victim! undecided

Lastpage , nice and succinctly put analysis....................

Just want to add that, had the yorubas fell for Ojukwu's bait, the northern soldiers stationed in yorubaland at

the time would have wasted no time, decimating the local population,
only for Ojkwu's rag-tag Biafran Liberaton

Front(so aptly named) to come to the rescue and in effect have the whole of southern Nigerian in his (Ojukwu's)

pocket. This is the genesis of ibos' unfathomable hatred for the yorubas and the tag "cowards" they have

impishly placed on the whole group, ever since.
Exactly!
Even an Igbo man was brave enough to accept this ploy.... had it come to fruition!

They would not accept that the Yorubas made a "survival-saving decision" based on innate wisdom.... but would rather called them cowards for not walking into a suicide plan by Ojukwu!

Question is: Of what benefit is the so-called Bravery on the part of the Igbo decision -makers of those days when their population has to suffer such a disgraceful conquest, with the loss of millions of innocent lives... and their general Ojukwu has to flee his country with his tail between his legs?
"Bravery is NOT FOUND is reckless chest-beating and suicidal actions.... but in carefully planed and well-conceived actiosn that yield the desired result...using minimum effort and resources" .... to paraphrase another Yoruba sage!

Who says Yorubas are not the wisest in Nigeria? Hating them wont change that fact. grin

This is a lie from the pit of hell!
You IGBOS are very MANIPULATING sha? shocked

Awolowo was a Democrat, Awolowo was also the Premier of the Western region!

Awolowo has nothing to do with your hatred for Northerners and murdering their leaders for your selfish interest and political gain!
Dont twist History. Take responsibility for your Actions and stop trying to push it on others.

Igbos have always been greedy for POWER, from day 1.
Even Ojukwu wanted to head "a country" by all means even when it was obvious that the timing was not right, hence his haste to declare Biafra....... and "forcefully trying to rail-road" South Westerners to support his selfish albeit suicidal mission.

Funnily, IGBOS are still very far, from that same Pinnacle of Power!

Under the watch of Hausas and Yorubas Nigeria became the corruption capital of the world. Virtually nothing gets done in Nigeria without
someone bribing someone. You simply have to bribe to get what you want. If you want the rag-tagged policeman at a roadside checkpoint
to let you pass you have to bribe him; if you want to obtain a form from a government office you have to bribe the clerk dispensing the
supposed free form; if you want the officials in the ministry of your business interest to do something for you, you have to bribe them; if
you want contract to do some work for the government you have to bribe whoever awards the contract; if you want to become a member of the legislature or executive or judiciary you have to pay your dues (to the power brokers of Nigeria); if you want to attend a university in
Nigeria or obtain a job at one of her fourth-rate universities you have to bribe someone there. What is empirical is that Hausas and Yorubas ruled Nigeria and ran her to the ground. The necessary conclusion is that they are not capable of ruling modern polities; they are disastrous in governance
