Fulaman198:In my particular field the expertise is greater abroad. I don't say anything about intelligence merely experience in a particular field. I meet extremely intelligent Nigerians all the time. If they were not then they would not be on the courses I teach! Please don't assume or put words into my mouth. I suspect you just want to disagree and argue with ANYTHING an oyinbo says! |

Stelvin101:Absolutely, the thing is that uneducated people look at people on a basis of skin colour, race, religion, ethnic background, etc. etc. So you don't have to waste your time with such people. |

bigfrancis21:please when you write something than lok what you write since when is Beethoven who was described as a 'blackamor' a black man such a stupid writing. The oldest Universities are in fes is from 800 and kairo and bagdad, the university in mali is since 988 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sankore_Madrasah http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universit%C3%A4t_al-Qaraw%C4%ABy%C4%ABn http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Mustansiriyya-Universit%C3%A4t and the oldest university of europa is not in spain it is in italiy in salerno http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schola_Medica_Salernitana and the other old university is in Bologna in italy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Bologna the moors are not black africans this are the people from nord africa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moors since when is jesus black when you see the people from israel than you know the color of the skin The moors are not black the moors are arab and it comes from a country The Romans interacted with (and later conquered) parts of Mauretania, a state that covered modern Morocco, western Algeria, and the Spanish cities Ceuta and Melilla during the classical period. The people of the region were noted in Classical literature as Mauri, which was subsequently rendered as "Moors" in English.[9] It is often common in modern times to apply the appellation of "Moor" or "Moors" to North Africans, especially Moroccans, although some find this derogatory. Isidore of Seville, writing in the seventh century, claimed that the Latin word Maurus was derived from the Greek mauron, μαύρον, which is the Greek word for black.[10] Modern meanings In the Medieval Romance languages (such as Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian), the Latin word took such forms as moro, moir, mor, mouro and maur. From denoting a specific Berber people in western Libya, the name acquired more general meaning in the Romance languages during the medieval period, partly developing a general meaning of "Muslim", partly (much like "Saracens" taking a religious meaning of "infidels" in the context of the Crusades and the Reconquista.Beside its usage in historical context, Moor and Moorish (Italian and Spanish: moro, French: maure, Portuguese: mouro, Romanian: maur) are used to designate an ethnic group speaking the Hassaniya Arabic dialect. They inhabit Mauritania and parts of Algeria, Moroccan Sahara, Tunisia, Morocco, Niger and Mali. In Niger and Mali, these peoples are also known as the Azawagh Arabs, after the Azawagh region of the Sahara.[11] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moors read this than you will see that moors are arab people and not black africans |

bigfrancis21:Well, first of all am a Christian and from my own findings in the Bible, civilization started here in Africa and gradually shifted to Asia before Europe and America. Time alone can give account of how Africa got to this point of being uncivilized compare to other continent such as Europe, America, Australia and the rest. We are in the 21st century and still battling with modern day slavery, racism and the rest. 3 things denying Africa from unity are Religion, Politics and Language. These, the whitemen used in controlling Africans without us knowing and they are still using it up till date, else Africa should have been the most powerful continent on earth cause of her natural resources, weather, climate and people. that's the little I can say or perhaps put in summary. |

this is the 21st century and you guys still blame the Europeans for your underdevelopment and even blame the Bible and and God for your underdeveloped state! really pathetic. the japanese were bombed in 1945, but today due to resilience they are now one of the world superpowers in spite of the numerous earthquakes they suffered. you people shud just wake up and use your mind for the right things, dream of endless possibilities which the 21st century encourages. stop using your mind to think of oppression, genocide, ethnic cleansing, prejudice and other vices |

FxDuke:The Japanese are also huge puppets of the west. What Africa needs is remember his/her history, as a continent. Remember its moments of greatness and not elect foolish leaders who will bow down to other regions in a show of incompetence. Africans need to stop being afraid of the West (France, England and United States), and move on doing their own thing. Be proud of who they are and take pride in their culture. Africans also need to stop selling out other Africans or blacks in favour of bowing down to Oyibos (I really hope you are not one of those Africans). The only way for Africans to progress are as follows: 1. Learn to become cold-hearted in a cold-hearted Western dominated world 2. Learn to not bow down like fools and sissies to Asian and Western powers 3. Learn to stop being overly honest when dealing with non-African powers (because most people are very dishonest with Africans) 4. Place a high emphasis on technological advancements and engineering 5. Stop kissing Western arse 6. Have an "I can do personality" meaning being able to build our own things, weapons, computers and other technology related to computers, etc. 7. Stop electing corrupt leaders who embezzle all the money With that, I'm going to sleep. Before my Fulaniness really comes out |

Listen, Civilization started from Africa. The earliest human civilization started in Egypt at about 3000BC when the ancient black egyptians gathered together to form a civilization, out of which came the egyptian pyramids (an architectural wonder of sort with to such a wonderful precision which still dazzles modern science of today), mathematics, philosophy, astrology, philosophy etc. Egypt was at its might during ancient times and can be likened to the position of America in the world today. Nationals from Rome, Greece, Persia, paid visits to Egypt to learn from her civilization. The earliest 'white' civilization is traced to the Romans and Greeks who were to surface in world history in 800BC i.e. about 2200 years after the Egyptian civilization. The Romans and Greeks learned from Egyptian temple priests and took their knowledge with them back to Rome and Greece where they wrote their books and equally admitted in their books that they learned from the egyptian priests first hand. Ancient Egyptians were already practising mathematics (the pythagoras theorem with which they used to build the pyramids. The pythagoras theory in mathematics which is wrongly attributed to Pythagoras actually came from the Egyptians for they knew that the longest side of a right angled triangle can be taken from the square root of the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other 2 sides. They had formulas for finding the area of shapes etc). 2000 years later, Egypt was invaded by the romans, their temples destroyed and their books and knowledge carted away. Egypt fell under Roman occupation and became a colony of Rome from about 300BC to 4AD/5AD when the Roman empire fell and Europe was plunged into intellectual darkness.sorry that is not tru it is mesopotamia and this is older than egypt The history of Mesopotamia describes the history of the area known as Mesopotamia, roughly coinciding with the Tigris–Euphrates basin, from the earliest human occupation in the Lower Paleolithic period up to the Muslim conquests in the 7th century AD. This history is pieced together from evidence retrieved from archaeological excavations and, after the introduction of writing in the late 4th millennium BC, an increasing amount of historical sources. While in the Paleolithic and early Neolithic periods only parts of Upper Mesopotamia were occupied, the southern alluvium was settled during the late Neolithic period. Mesopotamia has been home to many of the oldest major civilizations, entering history from the Early Bronze Age, for which reason it is often dubbed the cradle of civilization. The rise of the first cities in southern Mesopotamia dates to the Chalcolithic (Uruk period), from c. 5300 BC; its regional independence ended with the Achaemenid conquest in 539 BC, although a few native neo-Assyrian kingdoms existed at different times, namely Adiabene, Osroene and Hatra. the oldest writing is from this place |

I asked this same question to a friend when I was in Nantes, France and he replied Africa was fighting with bow and arrow while Europe and the rest of the world were building underground tunnels, metros, developing infrastructure and robust institutions. Now the gap is more than 7 ups.Our past leaders were responsible having failed to do the needful.Till Jesus comes and rapture the church can Africa be like Europe? I am not sure. |

Kruzilano:You are certainly right to some extent. However, research and find out why we couldn't change or switch. The task before us now is to switch and reclaim our rightful place on earth. Let every African work on this and we'd never have to have this type of discussion again. |

In Spain the word moro was used (like many others) as just a word for 'muslim' from whatever origin, and there were many different origins, including arabic, yemeni, syrian, slav etc all from further east.http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Moors read this that you will know that with moors it is always that it means muslims and not black africans because the word for black africans is niga the best is when you know your own history and learn your own history and the problem with africans is they they forgot their own history when i read about one so called god of men who told his followers african history is bad and his followers should forget it. |

I feel Africans as whole got just political independence, but still suffering from economical, social and cultural legacies left behind by the Europeans. which means Africans has never been free economically, socially and culturally. They've always influenced the Africans directly or indirectly. The colonial masters used the Africans and resources in Africa to develop there world at the detriment of the Africans, though it's wrong to fully blame the Europeans for the underdevelopment of the African continent. It's high time we see where it's all coming from and tackle it. |

harffie:Moors is the word of muslims and it is not black africans sorry read what i write and what he write is not realy all tru and it is not a great article because moors are muslims and the word moore is the word for muslims in spain Africans when you have no information about the history of europa please learn it There were also Sub-Saharan Africans who had been absorbed into Al-Andalus to be used as soldiers and slaves. The Berber and Sub-Saharan African soldiers were known as "tangerines" because they were imported through Tangier.http://wiki.uz.cm/wiki/Moorish |

It's sad that Africans don't know their history. We have contributed most to human development. The science & tech you see today is a culmination of knowledge that began way back in Africa, especially Egypt/Nubia. |

i think many people here are missing the question when the whites come to africa, the west had developed already they had sort of a system working in their respective countries so we should focus on the period before the whiteman came to africa, the white man came to africa after releasing the potential of market of goods in their own countries and they sought to get cheap raw materials from beyond europe, their systems created market for goods and services and all that developed country if we focus on the period the whiteman came to africa we fail to answer the question because africa was their before the whiteman and it has kingdom etc but how far had we developed as those scattered kingdoms and also lets put egypt our of the equation simply because that was one of the developed empire among other empires scattered allover africa but what is there to show the development they did before the whiteman made us slave many people answer the question by only looking at the period the whiteman came and left but still to me it doesnt answer the question as africa has kingdoms already before the aririval of whites but how far had we developed ourself ? and we talk of civilazation started in africa etc but whats there to show of it and what development was that if we compare european empires and african one we would say we were developing at the same rate ? i agree to say between 1800 - 1900 we lost development as africans because we were all under the whiteman's rule but what of the our own period before the whitemen and the whiteman and his development before exploring africa? I THINK THAT WERE WE SHOULD FOCUS ON |

The blackman can't think for themselves....when they were even in Egypt the first monument which is the sphinx or pyramids you see were built by Pheonician Decendents. And Berbers. The negrows were driven out during this time. We as Africans have to ask God what the problem is...and again our bloody culture that most Africans cling to are what's setting us back. We should do away with them and think in a most secular way. |

Come to think of it...the summarians had developed prior to the great egyptian civilization. So don't decieve anybody...africa never built anything! |

Fulaman198:You sir have summed up my life's existence on Nairaland. I have more respect for a poor man who carries himself with dignity than one who bows down and accepts and propagates the believe that he is inferior only to be rewarded with crumbs at the table. My entire trolling is simply to show how Bantus have no self confidence. Sometimes I amaze myself. I remember so many threads with so many different fonts competing with me on who was better looking Bantus or Somalis, and they started to post mixed people, weave wearing bantus etc. It amazing that how some are brain washed and they dont even see it. Some even argued that straight nose, and soft curly hair were typical Bantu features, and that no one could tell the difference between a Somali and a Nigerian. ![]() Obviously I knew I would illicit these reactions simply cause I wanted to prove my hypothesis true. The rest of the trolling.....Lets just say I have some time on my hands as work requires little actual work, and there is no adult supervision when I show up to work. ![]() |

Just like undeveloped Haiti close to developed nations is fetish, wicked and selfish so is Africa. They are intellectually lazy, generally believe more in fables than facts. They do everything for the wrong reasons! |

And set up their plans to control. And we fell for it. Infact all races were affected. From Africa. To India. To China. So it's not just an African thing. Butt we have ourselves to blame. Africa had some significant develop. But have been ravaged by internal wars even before the white men came. They only consolidated on it.
