The one thing that made east more beautiful than Lagos was the lack of open gutters. The east is fast becoming like Lagos with open gutters everywhere. This is disgusting, the whole drainage does not have to be open for the national pet mosquito, to convert into breeding ground. All that is required is a drainage sink hole whilst the rest is paved. This will save lives especially of the elderly that cannot jump all this gutters everywhere. The last accident in Onitsha was particularly deadly becos of the very wide open gutters. Here are some examples of what to do with the gutters. I particularly like the one with the metal sink hole drainage. My first picture

Anniversary: Gov. Obiano Signs N18.5bn Natural Gas Deal For Industrialisation NAN — Mar 19, 2015 | 0 Comments The Anambra Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Falcon Corporation, a foreign firm for the distribution of natural gas in the state. Ms Ngozi Okoye, Senior Special Adviser to Gov. Willie Obiano on Oil and Gas, made the disclosure on Thursday in Awka at a news conference on activities in the sector in the past one year. Okoye, said the gas project which was worth about N18.5 billion would facilitate the growth and further development of industrial clusters in the state. She assured also that the 20,000 bpd capacity of Orient refinery cited at Umuleri/Nsugbe, a joint venture of the Anambra Government and Orient Petroleum could still be delivered at the end of the year. Okoye, also Secretary to the State Committee on Oil and Gas, said the construction of a pipeline from the refinery to the proposed airport for dispensing of aviation fuel was ongoing. “A dual carriage road to the airport has already been flagged off by His Excellency and is nearing completion,” she said. Okoye said the government through the committee was actively involved in the plan to establish a Petrochemical Plant in the state. “If completed, the plant will have a 400 million standard cubic feet of gas per day extraction capacity and be able to produce 2,200 tons per day of mixed Nitro-Gas liquids. “It will also yield a 4,000 tons per day of Methanol, 2,300 tons per day of Ammonia Urea (fertilizer), 1,400 tons per day of Acetic Acid, 150 tons per day of Formaldehyde and 6,200 tons per day of portable water,’’ she said. She further said that the state now boasted of 13 existing viable Oil Blocks in the state. They are OPLs 228, 280, 901, 902, 903, 904, 905, 906, 907, 914, 915, 916, and 917, Okoye said. She said most oil production activities in the state were concentrated in the Anambra Basin, with OPLs 915 & 916 that had an estimated reserve of 193 million bbls Oil/Condensate and 30 TCF of Gas (owned by Orient Petroleum) witnessing the most activity. The governor’s aide, who restated Obiano’s determination to make Anambra industry-driven, noted that the government had proposed a cargo airport to handle international cargo as well as domestic passenger flights. Okoye said the airport for which license had been obtained, was a 50/50 joint venture between state government and Orient Petroleum and would have about 3.7km runway capable of handling big couriers. She noted that with the passage of the bill which sought to establish the Anambra State Oil and Gas Development Agency (ASOGDA) in April 2014, the Oil had become hugely activated. She rued the damage to Orient Oil facilities caused by the 2012 flooding, saying the production capacity of the company was greatly hampered but would come up soon if the wells become functional. Okoye said efforts were being made to get the Federal Government to include Anambra in the exclusive list of oil producing states by making it the 10th member of Niger Delta Development Commission. This, she said, was a major concern of Obiano and that the governor was already at it as its reality would attract more revenue and development. (NAN |

Obiano wants 4 days devoted to kidnap cases GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has urged judges in the state to devote four of five sitting days in a week to cases involving suspected kidnappers as a way of reducing the number of such pending cases. The governor spoke while swearing in eight new high court judges approved for the state by the National Judicial Council, NJC. The new judges were among the 16 whose names were forwarded to NJC for appointment. Only eight of them were successful. According to him, devoting more time to treat kidnap cases will also help to de-congest the courts and reduce the incidence of kidnapping. He assured the judiciary of his administration’s continued assistance to make the work of the judges and magistrates easier. The new judges are Arinze Chidozie Akabua, Theophine Oguji, Michael Okonkwo, Irene Ndigwe, Raphael Onunkwo, Dennis Madue-chesi, David Onyefulu and Fidelis Aniukwu. All the new judges had their official quarters and cars ready as they emerged from the swearing in ceremony. |

Looks like the jealous/lazy/covetous/reap-where-you-didn't-sow/bloodthirsty neighbour has been seen off! At least we now know the exact nature of what we're dealing with! I think Orient petroleum facilities are now being guarded round the clock by fierce/gun-totting MOPOL and local vigilante......hence the difficulty in getting any pics of the refinery and other activities there! This is a story from last year, when the dirty bastards were up to no good: Kogi warriors destroy Orient Oil & Gas refinery (Anambra) Warriors alleged to be from Kogi State in North-Central Nigeria have invaded the neighbouring Aguleri community in the South-East state of Anambra, destroying the multi-million Orient Oil & Gas refinery in an unprovoked attack. An Aguleri youth leader, Comrade Innocent Nduanya, first alerted News Express to the destruction of the refinery commissioned in late August 2012 by President Goodluck Jonathan to usher Anambra into the league of oil-producing states. A top Anambra State government official confirmed the attack to News Express, which had in the past drawn the federal government’s attention to the deadly communal dispute over the land where the oil facilities are located. A written statement by Nduanya, who is the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Anambra State Chapter, reads as follows: “This is to inform ALL Nigerians that the people of Ibaji in Kogi State have renewed their destructive and state-sponsored aggression again by attacking Orient Oil & Gas Facilities in Aguleri, Anambra East LG of Anambra State on Monday the 3rd day of March 2014. “The attacks on Orient Oil which destroyed most of the Plants heavy equipment was carried out in full broad daylight while the police officers posted to protect the plant looked the other way. The staff quarters of Orient Oil were also burnt by the invaders. “Information reaching us has it that the police officers mostly of Kogi State origins were complaining of neglect by the Police authorities since they were posted to protect the Oil Company. “We appeal to both Anambra State and the Federal Govt to protect the oil facilities and stop the madness from Kogi State. This latest attack is seen as an act of provocation to the people of Aguleri whose son Chief Willie Obiano would take over the leadership of Anambra State from Gov Peter Obi on the 17th of March 2014. We do not want these criminal hoodlums of Boko Haram to enter our village. We therefore call on President Jonathan CFR to restrain Gov Idris Wada of Kogi State and send more detribalised military presence in the affected area.” https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCYQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnewsexpressngr.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail.php%3Fnews%3D4851&ei=dHoLVbjBPM37au-OgMAE&usg=AFQjCNH1vLDvidmKFXWvWhHEzXb4DujeJg |

In what is seen as a practical move to develop tourism sector, create jobs and attract huge revenue from local and foreign tourists, the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Africa Project Finance and Development Limited for the development of Ogbunike Cave into a world-class Theme Park and Resort at the cost of N250 million. Under the arrangement okayed at the governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, the company will design, develop, finance, construct and operate the state-of-the-art Park and Resort. The equity distribution of the agreement allocates 75 percent to the company, 15 percent to the State government, 5 percent to Oyi Local Government Area and another 5 percent to Ifite-Ogbunike, while 3 percent will be used for the development and social responsibility projects in the area. Governor Obiano in his speech said the project would provide comprehensive entertainment centre and facilitate total exploration of the Cave and make it attractive for tourism. He assured that the project would be handled by a world-class contractor who would give the State quality facilities for tourism and relaxation. The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Chief Tony Onyima explained that following governor Obiano’s passion and directive to transform the old age Cave that had been ignored over the years, the Ministry and Anambra State Investment Protection and Promotion Agency (ANSIPPA) accelerated work in attracting the investor and concluded modalities for the partnership to harness the potentials of the Cave. Chief Onyima pointed out that schedule for the implementation of the project had been worked out and assured that by next year some of the projects would be ready for commissioning and would transform the State with multiplier effect. The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Joachim Nwagbo noted that within one year, governor Obiano had turned the State into first choice investment destination with effective security system and stable socio-political environment attractive for direct funding of projects and strategic development initiatives. Mr. Nwagbo said in addition to the Ogbunike Cave project, the company was equally ready to finance an airport project, modern transport scheme and has N1.4 billion to invest on inter-State rail system. Earlier, the Chairman of ANSIPPA Igwe Cyril Enweze, who is the traditional ruler of Uumuoji and a renown technocrat elaborated that the project would include nature and games reserves, water park, hotels, museums, retain and dining facilities, amphitheater, cultural centre, lake and river sports, among other recreation activities. Igwe Enweze explained further that the project had immense benefits for the State including mass direct and indirect employment opportunities and transfer of skill and technology. |

IGBOSON1:It's unfortunate, I guess every reasonable person should now know who the true owner of the place is. nobody will destroy his own property in the name of fighting for it. It's just like the case of the 2 women judged by king Solomon in the Bible. while the other woman accepted that the baby should be divided into 2, the real mother, knowing that that will result to the death of the baby, pleaded that the baby should be given to the other woman instead, she said that if the baby grows up, he will certainly know his real mother. if the federal government and those presiding over that case should tell themselves the truth, they should by now know the owner of the place and end this madness once and for all. |
