Gunmen Fire At Governor Amaechi’s Convoy by Collynzo419: 9:53pm On Mar 26, 2015
Armed attackers have opened fire on the convoy of Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
At least two people were injured in the attack which occurred Thursday evening, a witness said.
The Police spokesperson for Rivers State, Muhammad Ahmad, could not be immediately reached. He did not answer or return calls.
The governor’s spokesperson, David Iyofor, said “thugs” shot at the governor in Rumuolumeni, Obio Akpor, area of Port Harcourt.
Obio Akpor is the home of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike.
Mr. Wike is locked in a long-drawn feud with the governor over the choice of Mr. Amaechi’s successor.
The governor was in Obio Akpor to campaign for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, his office said, blaming the attack on the opposition PDP.
PREMIUM TIMES could not confirm that claim.
Mr. Iyofor said the governor and his entourage were first attacked with bottles, stones and other objects before gunshots rang out, leaving two supporters of the governor injured.
More shots were fired as the governor was leaving, he said.

If I were GEJ,honestly,I would seat back at Aso Villa and relax cos victory is so certain on saturday.
So far,the difference between Buhari and GEJ is that APC and their supporters have only succeeded in making more noise than PDP using the Social media,print and broadcast media,etc.I wont take away this from the APC,they've tried in those regards,but the reality on ground says otherwise.
Sincerely too,when GEJ is announced the winner at the end of the day,it will be no surprise AT ALL!
I can beat my chest and say that GEJ will win most states in the Middle Belt (I hate calling them North Central).
South West results will shock APC .Osun and Kwara are the SW states GEJ stands no chance.
Of course,SE and SS are locked down for GEJ
GEJ will get 25% or more in Kebbi,Kaduna,Niger,Gombe.

Ameachi! Well, these politicians can do anything to win sympathy from the very gullible masses. This sounds more like a stunt from a Nigerian movie. If shots were fired and all the aforementioned violence took place, how is it no one died or even sustained life threatening injuries?

This just reminded me of a news some weeks back where an APC aspirant in Lagos was accusing the PDP aspirant of leading an attack to his campaign office and even personally firing shots. Yet, no one was injured nor was there any casualty.

A video or a picture of it happening or this is just a load of crap! Even Premium Times cannot confirm the story.

If this is true, then it is the height of irresponsibility. I am not a fan of Nigerian politicians, but I still dont know what Amaechi's offence is. Is it nolonger a free country?

This is a man who, in the history of nigeria, is the only governor to be publicly disgraced by a first lady. Does anyone still remember how patience jonathan publicly grabbed Amaechi's mic and reprimanded him on live tv.

This is a man who won the chairmanship of the governors' forum by 19 to 16, yet jonathan's govt recognised the faction with 16 votes.

If that wasn't enough, do you still remember how Amaechi was unfairly suspended from the PDP?

So, the man should have stayed and kept playing mumu? If anything, Amaechi remains one of the most courageous politicians in nigeria today. He may have gone against his people's sentiments, but if I were him, I would have done the same.
