Crawford-Browne said evidence showed that Barclays Bank of England financed the acquisition of the BAE

Commmerzbank of Germany financed the purchase of the four frigates and three submarines. Societe

I said it was possible, it could of been German and South African ships firing simultaneously, besides the fishing boat was in the wrong place as well and the captain was fully aware there would be live firing from the South African and German Navies.

9. 9 pilots and 9 navigators.

How many hawks are in service with the SAAF?

26?

It is important for any Airforce to have surplus pilots, a full compliment of pilots is only a basic requirement.

The SAAF cannot achieve this because, the service after 16 years, still lacks the skilled personnel to meet this very basic of requirements. As an add on, you are also broke.

Nothing to be proud of, half and half pig.

Where does it say 9 and 9?

It says 18 - this means any combination is possible

When the last numbers were released there were 52 Pilots qualified on the Hawks and waiting for the Gripen

Add to this 22 000 hours budgeted and you see that we are neither broke nor short of skills

Not accurate.

You have 26 Gripens in service.
18 Aircrew (pilots and navigators)
In 2013 you only had 6 qualified Gripen pilots.
9 pilots and 9 navigators.
18 Aircrew
14 Gripens fully operational at any given time
12 in rotation

26-12=14

Thus, 14 pilots

At present the SAAF can only muster six qualified Gripen pilots who only have 150 flying hours available across the whole Gripen squadron this year, according to Maynier. The annual target for fighter flying hours was 250 for the 2011/2012 period, according to the Department of Defence’s most recent Annual Report.

Defence analyst Helmoed-Römer Heitman noted the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) requires fighter pilots to log at least 20 flight hours per month (240 flight hours per year per fighter pilot) to remain qualified.

“One of the biggest scandals of the Arms Deal is that we bought military equipment we could not afford to operate. And there is no better illustration of the point than the Gripen fighter jets in long-term storage,” Maynier said. “It is imperative that the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, reviews the allocation of the operating funding to the “Gripen system” in the SAAF.

You are posting outdated and misleading information - David Maynier was completely wrong (as was shown by his retraction of his statements at the SERETI Comission).

While flight hours are misleading, for instance the 2011/2012 DoD Annual Report states that while the Gripen squadron was allocated only 250 flying hours for that FY, 857.1 hours were actually flown by using funds from other parts of the budget.
http://www.dod.mil.za/documents/annualreports/annualreport1112n.pdf

Why are you wasting time with matters that have been resolved? Why are you so desperate to discredit the SAAF? Is it because of the massive insecurities you feel for the NAF?

Your ministry of Defence is telling lies to save face. At the time of the report, the SAAF only had 6 qualified Gripen Pilots.

That guy is a former submariner and the SANDF's loudest and staunchest supporter in your parliament.

David Manier is an opposition MP who wants to be the Minster of defence - he is its biggest critic

SANDF submits the report to parliament - if they lie they get held up for fraud.

You have been soundly defeated with citations.

.....because you are fools in South Africa, your brains work in reverse gear cheesy cheesy

You have missile shortage on your jets and your warships, empty Exocet launchers all over your Frigates.

Nation of dumbos cheesy cheesy
.

Missile shortage for Gripen is because we are going to start producing our own - the A-Darter, why would we buy a span of missiles just to replace them?

Missile shortage for frigates is in line with standard operational procedure - we do not intent to have all 4 at sea at the same time, because we do this thing called maintenance.

Citation needed.

NAF has NEVER been reported to be short of F-7 jet pilots.

The only pilot shortage reported is for South African Gripen jets tongue tongue

"The sad facts of the Gripen system are as follows: 26 Gripen fighter jets were delivered; 10 or fewer are operational; 12 are in long-term storage; there are six qualified pilots; there are about 150 flying hours available to the entire squadron. "

Date of publication of the following: 09 September 2013

However, last month Mapisa-Nqakula said that no Gripens or Hawks were in storage. Bayne said this was because after consulting with Saab, it was decided to rather rotate the aircraft to ensure they all get a chance to fly.

the Gripen fleet has flown 3 500 hours since 2008 while the 24-strong Hawk fleet has flown over 10 000 major accident-free hours since 2005. According to testimony at the arms deal commission, 18 Gripen aircrew have been trained up to operational status to date and 52 Hawk aircrew have been trained so far.
