If he is then we have a whole different case, but if he isn't the father then all you have to do is consider these points

~ firstly, is this the man that you want to help raise your kids? Do you think he has the financial capacity to cater for the needs of you and your child
Is he hard-working?. What's the nature of his current Job.
Finance is a critical part of any relationship.

~ secondly, you said you don't like the company he keeps. Do you think such environment is what's suitable in raising your child.

Op, I don't know how much you love this guy but if you feel the relationship isn't yielding positive results, it's better you just break-off, instead of causing more problems for you and your child.

Ok, when you say he is broke, I would have loved if you were a little bit more specific. Does he have a job? Or any source of income?

Finance is definitely an important aspect when considering a serious relationship but definitely not all that there is to making a relationship work.

You should factor things like, his plans, his goals, his ambition, his resilience in dire situations etc.

Being broke might just be a phase in his life now and if you truly love him and have considered some of the factors I listed above, you would stick with him and be there for him.

On the other hand if he is the un serious type, who just enjoys gallivanting with his friends and spends little or no time at all making productive plans for himself, then you need to consider carefully if you would want to continue in such a relationship.
