Sweetguy25:
You should remember that it was under the administration of Okonjo Iweala in Obasanjo's government that our excess crude and foreign reserves shot up.
So what changed?
Have you ever asked why the federal government couldn't save much when crude prices were high? Did you know that it was state governments that demanded that savings in the ECA be shared among the three levels of government?
Blaming only Okonjo Iweala for the poor management of our foreign reserves reeks of ignorance. It is the central bank that manages our foreign reserves and the primary blame for poor mismanagement goes to the CBN governor and not the minister of finance.
States governors and commissioners of finance should be blamed for the mismanagement of their state revenues.
Under Okonjo, our economy has been restructured, various sectors of the economy have been properly assessed and valued.
Our IGR has also increased immensely.
The woman has done very well.
No we are talking of the Federal Government Finances which re quite different form the state. The sttes are entitled to demand their money but the FG Was running a budget with a $70 benchmark so what that means is anything over the benchmark shoud be saved on the FG side while the states collected their. Where is the FG share. State cannot FORCE the FG to spend their share if the FG wants to save. Like I said she ran a deficit budget meaning they not only spent it all but even borrowed more!!!
What happened well the breeze has blown and we have seen the fowl's whatnots. We can now see that Obasanjo is the one who deserves credit for the debt repayment etc as borne out by SOludo's critique of NOI recently.
The state governments can only demnd their share they cannot make the FG spend what was not budgeted but that is exactly what happened. Her regime was marked by a lack of transprency and an asymmetry of information.Government should be open with information but they were not.
What do you mean by "restructured" that is just a word.
You mention IGR have you got any data? again just words. She was gv=giving exemption after exemption costing government money. She has been a disaster. When you say she has done well . What is the IMPACT on the lives of Nigerians.Unemployment is at a record level. I agree with everything Soludo said about her.She has been a catastrophe

You talked about paying off debt, are you talking about NOI's debt relief under OBJ? If you want to make a political argument that OBJ was better than GEJ, that's entirely different. I prefer OBJ to GEJ myself, but to spout this odious dross that NOI is incompetent beggars belief.
Basically, this is the only part of your 'thesis' that'd be worth the trouble, and I intentionally left that part out (not to digress).

However factoring that in, I could infer OBJ had NOI under proper control (as a boss), while GEJ did not; hence, the decline.

Any NOI apologist who's swayed by her demagoguery could infer otherwise, it's a given . . . facts are facts anyway.

In what way ?? What impact hs she made on the lives of Nigerians. ? The only thing extraordinary about her is the hype that surrounds her. Her very first budget in 2012 was a blunder on oil subsidy. She has not added any value to Nigeria

Buhari can decide to leave all present ministers out of his cabinet, but he shouldn't make the mistake of leaving our dear mama peace, Patience Ebele Jona, out of his cabinet. PEJ should be retained as first lady so as to have a smooth run and continuous comic show/display in our dear nation Nigeria.

His only flaw is keeping incompetent people around him huh. That IS HIS ONLY JOB. It is like saying a coach's only problem is choosing bad players. Is Jonathan an Engineer to build roads or schools? Once again his job is to choose his team , tell them what to do and check that they do it .

Who in current administration cabinet do you think should be retained by Buhari?

Man mi, you have spoken well here dismissing the silly clamour for Adesina, Aganga, NOI et al. Stop wasting your time with these dreamers who just love to come here and yack. Non of the GEJ boys and girls will be retained by the APC. The APC never told anyone it was short of fine brains and top-level technocrats/achievers . GEJ's lot are all out.

Well, you have been stating facts intelligently on this thread yet some are just speaking sentimentally and even senselessly. Why will the APC want to associate itself with GEJ's Minister who all failed cumulatively if we look at the big picture? Like you, I believe even the so-called performers in GEJ's cabinet are above average performer over-hyped as "achievers". With the highly dishonest, ineffective and totally compromised NOI top of the list. Adeshina, for those with high expectations, has done nothing special enough to make the APC even consider retaining him. The APC will distance itself from the failures of GEJ for sure.

I just pray he will have the courage to deal with people around him,the very same people that are instrumental to his victory. Why? We know them because they've been around and a time like that will definitely come.

She did well enough to merit another chance but the pro-APC won't see it that way. She gave a lot of good advice and guidiance to Jona but can't do it all? She also gave some bad once like removal of subsidy instead of blockage of leakage in the system.
You must have missed the humour in my comment the guy was correctly respond to. Left to me, she should be the first to be fired.
