I am yoruba but I still feel bad each time I step my feet in ibadan or osogbo. The level of poverty and backwardness is unimaginable. No wonder my dad never allowed us come home as a kid.

They have sufficient and good land to accommodate both the new and the old city. The growth of towns and cities in SW is linear and not vertical because of the reason stated above.

The old part tells the story of our ancestors and forefathers, while the new shows what we are evolving to.

Why is it that only Lagos which is a no man's land where you see other people from other regions? Why is ibadan and abeakuta still a rural areas till today?

The answer is simple . Monkey no fine but hin mama like am.

The people living in them are not complaining. Ibadan people have a saying," If it aint't broke, why fix it?

The real truth is that these people are happy or contented with where they are staying.

Personal backwardness is a bigger problem.Have u been to Ring Road,Jericho,New Bodija and Oluyole? They also have brown roofs everywhere?Maybe your dad restricting you put a limit on your education.

Blame the poverty on the leaders and the system. The people didn't make themselves poor

Stop it. My dad has a house at Jericho. But in overall ibadan needs a makeover. The entire town requires demolition to pave for decent housing. Could you imagine that I could not bring my friends to Ibadan during grand daddy burial because I am not happy with the backwardness and how the town is filled with mud houses

The people should demolish all their houses and start sleeping on the grounds waiting for government to fix things for them?
If you couldn't bring your friends for your grandad's burial, then you must have a complex.

You can never compare the old London to Washingnton! Reason- London is more ancient than Washington. When/if you really get to London, you will discover many old buildings. I think Yorubaland cities/towns have been formed long befor white men came/Independence. This has been corroborated by the white people when they came. S/West had had deceloped settlements above all Africa, comparing them with 'other parts' is like your grandfather to yourself.

YOU CANNOT FIND RUSTIC ROOF IN THE EAST because THEY WERE NOT USING IRON ROOFING SHEETS IN OLD TIME. THEY USED LEAVES/PALM FRONDS IN THEIR HABITATIONS. Or else how wont you see any evidence of old lifestyle. Different eras

It's because despite their leaders looting, stealing and liquidating assets they never bothered to develop/help their lands. They held it on their pocket and the lazy touts didn't complain as long as deluded themselves others were underdeveloped as them.

It always amazes me that the only region which didn't have anything that hinder their growth like other regions in Nigeria is literally the most underdeveloped in that country. Imagine sef? I'm always amazed by that fact. I recall watching a music video one of their ppl did in ibadan, my sister if you see how wide my mouth dey watching a so called "city". When i find that music video again, I'll post it up here. You'll be shocked.
