there you go again acting like a road side agent. instead of you to clarify the issues raised you are talking about spiritualist.
i am not against your source of income. all we require is transparency.

it will only take one dissatisfied customer to ruin all you hard work here on nairaland. business cannot remain the same it must evolve and if you are not part of the evolution, business ends for you.

be the first to open up the business and rip the reward. guys like me will always come along.

saintjoel:
Have you always been like this or the witches in your village just decided to start yanking your chain. You've been told it's N25,000 for service charge and you keep throwing tantrums about cars above five million naira, seriously you need to visit a spiritualist to cleat your senses.

when theres transparency in any business, it builds trust and business continuity. business will go on with or without you always remember that.

saintjoel:
1."I actually got that picture off the internet. so dont be saddened it is the age of information".

This statement alone nullifies everything you've stated in your topic. so you mean you actually went on the internet, saw a bushpath and assumed it was idiroko road, let me tell you in the most civil way I can think of,"YOU SHOULD BE CASTRATED AND SHOT" for trying to destroy the livelihood of people making a living around cotonou.

2."I do business with one of those Lebanese guys that import the cars to cotonu and he told me that that the reason why prices of cars in the park are steadily going up is because of the touts and the agents. he said they can make upto 500k on a single car worth 5m without the knowledge of the buyer".

Did that Lebanese also tell you that increase in exchange rate and government policies in Nigeria are also factors affecting prices in cotonou. The 500K you keep stating,is it in cefa or Naira, kindly let us know the value in naira if it's in cefa. If you already have an idea of how much a vehicle is sold and you're sincere with yourself, how will someone from nowhere make 500K out of your deal.

The reason why people like you get scammed is just because you go into the market with the hope of buying a 2008 camry for one million naira and the touts and lebanese also see that you especially the lebanese who will tell you that they want to do business alone with you and by the time you know it,you end up with an accidented vehicle or you pay more than you bargained for, while he is secure in the knowledge that once the vehicle crosses the border, you can't bring it back or arrest him.

3. "He said [b]sometimes, to avoid trouble, they (Lebanese guys) wouldnt even negotiate directly with customer because of the touts (mostly indigenous touts)."

Thank God you stated that touts disrupt business in cotonou but one question I'll like to ask you is this, did those touts come into Nigeria to meet you, many customer always have thoughts just like you do that agents are fleecing and they go into parks themselves only for touts to dupe or harass them,so how's that the fault of any agent.

4. " I am all for clean business. state your bill and deliver!!! so i buy a car of 4.5m through you and all you make form it is 25k? you come count bridge for lagos?".

How are you so concerned with the amount any agent goes home with when you've stated your budget, with all these tantrum you've been throwing,I even doubt if you have such amount in your account.

Have you ever wondered why agents at the border look so weather beaten and our counterparts at the ports are big men, what you pay at the port to clear vehicles is much more than what you pay at the border. Before rhe the increment, agents were making around 7,000 naira on underage cars but with increment, they end up with around 3,000 naira after processing cos customs have ways of collecting every dime you've charged your client, now imagine if all any agent does in a week is one underage car?,it's this service charge and other tips like driving of cars etc that keeps us alive. I don't know where you all got that idea of agents living large at the expense of customers. If we make so much money,we'll be millionaires by now.

and remember we know that these Lebanese guys are a million time more corrupt than the average Nigerian. but they have opened up to me. "agents and touts significantly drive up the original cost at the park"
saintjoel:
its a dollar based business so its a given that cost will fluctuate. thats not a good argument.

If they've opened up to you, kindly stop ranting all over Nairaland and do business with them, just carry the vehicle on your head after purchase to your house since lebanese have told you agents or touts add more money and you will rather believe a lebanese who you've just said is ten times more corrupt than a Nigerian.

Guy, relax on this issue, if you need information ask and you will be told. even if some agents are bad, you cant say all are bad and crooked.... I have related to very good agents and sincere too. For me get me a good car for the price agreed and shikenaah. the problem with people like you is that you want to by a 2010 acura mdx for 1.5M... thats greedy and that why you fall for the tout and deal with crooked and corrupt lebanese that use your vulnerability to tell you things you wanna hear and then you believe and get a flooded or accidented car or a stolen car.

it does not hurt to ask but its stupid of you to go to the internet and copy bush path used by rice and turkey smuggler as cotonou road and you still had the guts to put picture in your topic. Thats why it sounds to me that you truely need spiritual healing.

Not long now...
Proverbs 28:9 - Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words.

If you get yourself mixed up with any fraudulent agent or lebanese in or around cotonou, you alone will bear your cross cos it seems your foolishness has no part two. People are telling you things you don't know and you keep writing "not long now",are you that daft or have you been skipping your medications.
