At least two persons have been killed after
violence erupted in Eku community, Ethiope East
Local Government Area of Delta State.
A yet-to-be identified member of the National
Youth Service Corps, NYSC, was reportedly
abducted by the gunmen.
The incident occurred after some heavily armed
gunmen numbering over 20 laid siege at the
community.
The deceased, both whom are males in their early
30s, sustained life threatening gunshot wounds
and died the next day (Thursday) at the Delta
State Teaching Hospital, Oghara.
The victims were referred from the Eku Baptist
Government Hospital, where they had earlier been
rushed to for medical attention.
Confirming the abduction of the youth corps member, a senior police officer attached to the Abraka Police station said: “It is true that an NYSC member was abducted by the gunmen, but we do not have detail of the person yet.”
On his part, the Delta State Police Public Relation
Officer, PPRO, DSP Celestina Kalu said she was yet to get any official report on the abduction of the corps member.

This is not good time for corp members. Some of my fellow corpers in Abia have been telling me how politicians have been making suspicious overtures to them with the view to rig tomorrows election. Some were even given money tru their SPO. Well to all corpers be very careful, ur life is worth more than the few thousands this selfish politicians will give u.

Owning a riffle in this country seems like a taboo... The society sees it as a crime... But it seems giving trusted persons the licence to own one can reduce all these incidence of kidnapping, armed robbery and cheap intimidation...
Imagine kidnappers being shelled from diffrent directions in the neighbourhood by residents when they come to carryout their evil act... They won't even know who to be more scared of again- their fellow citizens or the law...
