Phut:Cool. You started with 'akwuna', and the 'kwa' and 'ette' sort of broke the pattern. Do you think you could make a sentence with just variations of 'kwu' and 'na'? Like this one: Àkwùnà kwù n' ákwú nná Ákwúnnà The prostitute is standing on the palm fruit belonging to Akwunna's father. |

This is soooo rich and thrilling! Though l find Radoillo's dialect much easier to comprehend than ChinenyeN's! @Radoillo, u must be a very crafty man in life. Playing wonderful tricks with the Ibo phonology!!! By the way, @ ChinenyeN, does 'N' stand for 'Njoku'? |
| Re: Igbo Homophone Game by Phut(f): 8:06pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
Radoillo:Thanks, mehn! This is hard. Yours translates to: The prostitute is standing ... (can you please translate the rest?) |

OP, those are not HOMOPHONES (different spelling same pronunciation e.g reason, risen). They are HOMOGRAPHS [same spelling, different pronunciation e.g. Bow (type of neck tie) and bow (to bend over)]. The examples you gave (stalk, stalk: same spelling and pronunciation) are HOMONYMS. Meanwhile, ekwe ekwe kwekwe Ekwe ekwe kwenye Trans: Let those who never support allow Ekwe who plays ekwe (instrument) agree.. Chai ![]() |

sorry but me think no of ya' all will get an A1 in WAEC, Damn, una they mis-construct the sentence, just for the sake of ryhming! Haba, joining both Olumba and Igbo Nzugbe in the same sentence is very wrong! Very very wrong! Source: An A1 Igbo student t |

'Akwuna kwu' translates as 'prostitute stand', rather than as 'the prostitute is standing'? Are you sure you speak any Igbo? I mean actually speak the language, as against being familiar with individual, single words and their meanings? The rest of what you wrote strengthens my suspicion that you are not a fluent Igbo speaker. |

Radoillo:R u sure u read what I corrected? Akwuna kwu brothe translates as prostitute stand and nothing more. The prostitute is standing should be akwuna(a) kwu the "the" you inserted personifies a particular prostitute, so does the (a) in bracket, although in real sense, there isn't a bracket, just inserted it, so you understand the difference! Your welcome! |
| Re: Igbo Homophone Game by Nobody: 9:15pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
chrisviral:Yes, I read your 'corrections'. They are funny, to put it mildly. Be honest with me, are you a fluent Igbo speaker? Is Igbo your first language? |
