Can you plainly state the Igbo group that said so? And how did they accuse the Oba by saying Lagos is a no mans land.

I know of ibo elites (orji uzor kalu) and Massob e.t.c who made such statements during the anambra ibo destitues relocation to their states debacle.

Traditional titles are over a kingdom / land, so when the stool holder of such kingdom/land is told by settlers that his land is no mans land, you have desecrated his stool, and throwing insult on his forebearers. If yorubas in Onitsha begin to say Onitsha is no mans land, they are denigrating the stool of the Obi of Onitsha. Manytimes, we fail to understand action and reaction are equal but opposite.

If you guys don't understand that article, let me help you,an average Yoruba man care less who an Igbo man vote for in Lagos but abusing the Oba of Lagos will not be tolerated by Yorubas in lagos, people present said the Oba was joking, the comment has being condemned by all,but threads bashing of the Oba continued,Yorubas will take it as a contest between Yorubas and Igbos,Yorubas still hold the Ace in Lagos,we should move forward please.
Chill off! The only place people rant over this oba statement is online, especially on Nairaland. The mods keep pushing this particular topic to the front page just so they can get much traffic and boost their blogging business. I'm Igbo and I live among Yorubas, even my fiancee is Yoruba; out here, we joke over it. I even bought a life jacket to spice the humour. You guys should just stop making noise online

This Igbo people will not learn. I warn that this issue should tread softly. This was how many northern/Igbo mayhem starts. The Surdana Sokoto said it. The Igbo likes to migrate but will want to dominate their host communities interest.
You sound insecure.

What exactly is this "domination" you speak of?

Well, i guess you don't know that even God respects Kings...The Oba is a king...Obasanjo, Gej and Buhari will come and Go and the King remains...albeit, Lagos is smaller than Nigeria, but he is the King of Lagos, as the Queen of England has been on her throne since before you were born and her legacy lives, so also the King of Lagos legacy lives...With all the Ezes in iboland and Lagos ...you ought to know this, but you guys are either disrespectful/ just like to be stubborn, but you need to be educated.

That is not being disrespectful. If anyone talk to me like that, threaten me and wish death upon me, you don't expect me not to react. His utterances were uncalled for. Those men went for peace, they did not get that.

Oba is not God, while making those threats, something beyond him might happen to him. Those whom he was threatening might be the ones to save him.

why do ibos cause trouble everywhere? ghana, kenya, south africa, burundi, malaysia, india, china etc.? Why is it just ibos everywhere, if i may ask?

Ehen..me I know some igbos can be extremely obnoxious, arrogant, annoying and weird...especially those who grew up in the eastern part of the country.
That said, I still believe every Nigerian is a citizen of the country and is constitutionally free to occupy and do anything lawful anywhere in this country. Voting for their preferred candidate is Lawful so pls let us hear word.
The south west also benefit via federal allocations from funds derived from crude oil extracted majorly from the south south. So why shouldn't other people feel free to benefit from your Land.?
Not in support of the igbos though and their utterances though, because obviously, no south eastern state will accept such utterances from another tribe in their state.

Imagine a yoruba or Hausa or even Delta man saying they will produce the next governor of Anambra state because Anambra is a no mans land and a colonial settlement.

Igbos that I know in the south east will eat such person for dinner.
yes oh bro you can never try...it south east....

what are you importing that makes u proud ? Junk and discarded electronics or the hard drugs you exported world over, go to Asia and see thousand of Igbo on death penalty for drugs. You think okrika, okada , and used electronics are good for and economy, no. They don't encourage manufacturing. If there are no junk importer like Igbo , who knows we would have had a made in Nigeria electronics

Bros thats not true.....Look at how this arguement started
Was what the Oba said right?? are u justifying his actions?
You all suddenly see igbo people as trouble.....all of a sudden
Its so painful growing up in Lagos, calling it my home and all of a sudden I hear I'm an immigrant...
Its not fair at all......be fair bros

bros, the argument didn't start with the oba, it just took it to the crescendo. ibos have been taunting yorubas, especially for a very long time, claiming it's no man's land and they built it.

how did you build it with ur illegal businesses and substandard goods, you don't pay taxes for?

i have lived in canada, US, and UK, and the overwhelming majority of nigerian owned businesses there are owned by yorubas without taunting anyone. so if ibos are that creative, why can't replicate what they make noise about in nigeria outside the country in organised societies where there is law and order? they can't becos they are only masters of illegal activities and crime, with chest beating.

truth be told, a lot of educated yorubas who were raised in old lagos before ibo refugees came to the city don't like what ibos turned that city to. if they had their way, they will chase all ibos out. we want a civilised lagos and ibos will forever be immigrants in lagos. tell your family and ur children.

enough of ibo disruption.

Clutching at straws. You're all a disappointment. This unfortunate incident has gone viral and global and no amount if white-washing can cover the gaffe it was. My candid advise is introspection and reforms but in the public eye if apologies are difficult, silence is a smarter option. This counter attack only makes it worse. A sign of admission, of weakness, of guilt. Everybody will suffer this kind of affliction at one point or the other. It is the power of success at work and the inevitable pride that cones with it. The best days of the APC are over.

Please tell Nigerians how the Igbos have become a problem in Lagos. They are not the only tribe residing in Lagos. Tell Nigerians the truth about what happened especially those living outside Lagos and stop whipping ethnic sentiments which you are noted for.

I won't be the one to educate you on the Numerous trouble being caused by you people. If you need a teacher to educate you on it, try GOOGLE its your friend and one of the best teachers around.

There's no ethnic sentiment in the fact that your people started and popularised Piracy, Fake drugs among other vices.

Mind you its not only in Lagos but every part of the world.

Refusing to be grateful for what they and their people are benefiting from Yorubaland, these ones choose to constitute themselves into constant pain and trouble. The Yoruba people of Lagos, and other Lagos residents from other parts of Nigeria, are becoming tired of having these prickly characters around us.

When you people talk about accepting the igbos it baffles me, firstly they are Nigerians before been an Igbos man.
They came into lagos with virtually nothing and today some of them have properties scattered around lagos, that's not a mean feat.
They pay there tax d other indiscriminate fees put on them and their businesses.
Voting gas nothing to do with where you come from
But the stakes you have were you stay.
How many yorubas travel to the east with nothing and will Abe able to earn a living there if it's not tied to government funds.
We should understand that re- strategisin is what the Yorubas should do and stop issuing threats.
All they achieved in your land was not stollen but bought over.

Lagos remains no man's land as far as the non-indigent yorubas nay indigenes would hate because it is the small sacrifice they have to pay for a cosmopolitan city of the likes of New York,Paris etc and a thriving cash cow of 'One Nigeria'...Sincerely,we wish they could disrupt it with their age old tribalism and bigotry let us move this comspolitan beachfront to Akwa-Ibom.But for that to happen we need reprisal tribal tit-tats as we have shared with the northerners so everybody understand their own frequency, this should not only quicken the destruction of Lagos and economic shift towards Akwa-Ibom but impoverish the yorubas, reduce the general standard of living throughout SW and their political bargaining power....Akiolu's words just sparked a tsunami that will be to our economic benefit in all strata,if we surf this gigantic tribal wave to the last dribble without fear but righteous anger, blood lust and the ever present igbo tenacity,we could just break up Nigeria and begin a new destiny.....Win-Win-Win situation for the igbos.
So Akwa Ibom is now Igbo land? I learn something new everyday on Nairaland.
Ichidodo I served in Akwa ibom state and I know for sure that you want trouble If you refer to an Annang/Ibibio man as an Igbo man. The yorubas need all other ethnic groups to survive but I tell you they can live pleasantly without any other group.
