I agree with obiageli's analysis.

And why is this election more violent than the presidential one in every state?
I guess it's because the madness is now local, the desperation is closer to home, every polling unit, every ward, every votes matter
Re: Oba Of Lagos Outburst, A Master Stroke? by Mynd44(mod): 2:45pm On Apr 11, 2015
Funny thing is that you can not find one link or document relating Ambode/APC to ethnic comments. Not even one.
Re: Oba Of Lagos Outburst, A Master Stroke? by neenar: 2:50pm On Apr 11, 2015
Nice analysis, Obi. Agbaje's desperation is making him out of touch with reality. 'He'll make the Igwe equal to the Oba of Lagos.' Really, which sane person says this?

They have already offered enough for a start.

Remember, six are representing Lagos State on PDP and Accord party platform in National Assembly. Had PDP or Accord party denied them such platform, there wouldn't be any PDP or Accord party National Assembly Representative from Lagos State as a result of motivation

This is a political theory APC should key into to avoid being swept away by demography in new Lagos State political map.
Bros, u can lie o. They won 5 seats. 2 Igbo, 1 Urhobo, 1 (can't remember). The Accord guy was a strong APC man, he left cos they wanted to cheat him for someone else and he has a LARGE followership in Mushin. Btw, after his inauguration, he's defecting back to APC. Watch out for Musiliu Kako-Are on May 30th

You will be shocked at what is being passed around. There has been a lot of BS being thrown around which made the Council of Elders give a statement last night asking people to watch it.

I saw a comment where the person said when Agbaje wins, he will dethrone the Oba and I told myself "There goes Lagos Island local government"

And no one should say the APC started the tribe thing. You cannot produce one place where the APC has mentioned tribe in their campaigns but right from the distribution of PVC, we have seen where the PDP and Mr Agbaje has said that INEC and the Government were not given non indigenes PVC cards as though the state government were the ones sharing them.

The PDP ought not to have been involved in the Agbaje thing. And to those who said the Oba threatened genocide.....do you understand Yoruba customs at all? A king sits on his throne and says people will drown is not a threat of physical violence, he threatened to curse them if they did not obey him.

"Ending up in the Lagoon" stems from the king allegedly owning the powers of Olokun but again. We took it the way we wanted
Bros you mumu die.The threat of genocide is now reduced to the powers of olokun.Chai all this lies you people are sharing!!!!Anyway voting is already in progress what ever lie you spew here would not affect the outcome of the elections

Frankly I don't expect to come here to explain to you. What the Oba said was wrong and we all agree but over flogging an issue and turning it into a tribe thing between parties is not the way forward.

I don't really care who wins today anyway. I don't have to call that clueless charlatan my president after may 29 and that's my interest in this electoral month.

Big shame. Let's just see how far Jimi's desperation will take him.

APC in Lagos State is tribalistic in their choice of candidates and still practices sectionalism and lacks internal democracy against the so called economic migrants notwithstanding that population attracts 50% federal allocation.

If democracy is the government of, by, and for the people while impose a stranger in constituencies they are aliens to?

Imagine imposing a Ladoja against the wishes of 97% of traders in Ladipo market and still try to frustrate the traders for revolting.

A babaloja is not a function of the state government or the APC. It is merely a representative of the market to the Iyaloja of Lagos. Remember that the Oba of Lagos is also the Oba of Lagos state and hence that is his way of governing the markets.

The Yorubas have a culture of taxing each market and like it or not, it is contained in the customary laws of this country.

The Oba of Lagos also has the final say on which of his subjects is made babaloja of a market through his Iyaloja (who heads all the markets).

Why is this so hard?

It was just like when the Obi stopped the APC launch in Anambra. It is involved in the customary laws of the country. You cannot fight it

This is where she said Agbaje and the PDP handled it badly.

Agbaje did not say that but his supporters did. Should we punish Agbaje for what his supporters said no?

But remember that Ambode never insulted any tribe. The Oba did but we seem to want to punish Ambode for what the Oba said.

Same logic at play

No problem, no be kwankwaso appointed Sanusi Lamido as against Bayero who was selected

We will soon elect a political structure that will support our interest.

Politics is all about interest hence it will be foolish of the Igbos to be inviting South East Governors to come to Lagos State to beg on their behalf instead of voting and supporting friendly government that will champion their interests.

Lmao...

Kwankwaso selected Sanusi to be Emir? Sanusi has always known he would be the Emir na. How do you explain someone having a first class in economics and doing his masters in Islamic studies?

He was groomed from birth as his uncle is Emir.

What happened is this, there is a ruling house of two brothers and so the crown rotates between them. Sanusi is not the son of the previous Emir, he was a nephew to him. When he died, the title shifted to his side and he got it. The argument about Bayero came up because our ridiculously clueless president tried to install a supporter of his.

Please don't tell us what we know.

APC sent powerful delegations to plead with Kwankwaso to make Sanusi Lamido Emir in place of Bayero

Most Nigerian dailies have already congratulated Bayero even Osun defender had it as a headline news before pulling it down.

So you want to base this on Nigerian newspapers who are notorious for posting false and sensational BS...okay

Consider these
Who was the Emir before the late Emir? Sanusi's father
Why not Sanusi? Because the crown shifts.

And why are we discussing Sanusi? I thought this issue was resolved long ago?

All I am driving at is the power of political institution above traditional government.

If Igbos perceive injustice and acts against their interest, they will negotiate through the ballot - democracy at best

According to chapter 41 of the laws on Appointment and Deposition of Emirs (Section 3 Sub section 1),

“Upon the death, resignation or deposition of any Emir, the Governor may in conjunction with the council approve as the successor of such Emir any person appointed in that behalf by those entitled by tradition to appoint in accordance with such tradition and if no appointment is made before the expiration of the period prescribed by such tradition, the governor may himself appoint such a person as he may deem fit and proper to carry out such duties incidental to the Emirship as may be necessary to perform.”

[b]Sub section 2 also states that In the case of any dispute, the governor after due inquiry and consultation shall be the sole judge as to whether any appointment of an Emir has been made in accordance with the tradition”.

I believe people are just overflogging this matter to make Jimi look bad.
And a lot of people just want to be part of the team that's most likely to win so they can say, 'Yay,we won!'
The same way this set of people voted for Goodluck four years ago.
We all should just define what growth and development means to us and vote for the person we feel can make this happen without any form of bias.
Gracias

Igbos want to make Lagos home with or without our approval. We Yorubas clearly do not want that. It is our duty to do everything necessary to stop that.

Let's agree to disagree.

A wise king does not engage in partisan politics, if an oba uses foul language, what does he expect from touts. That oba should be dethroned , even Tinubu is ashamed of him.
