Two police officers in Taraba died Sunday while escorting election results to the collation centre in Bali local government area.
The police officers, who were deployed to Marrio village in the council, according to the police spokesperson, Joseph Kwaji, drowned after the boat transporting them capsized.
“When it happened, the villagers tried all they could to rescue the policemen but before they could help them they had drowned,” a witness told PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr. Kwaji, the police spokesperson, however, did not reveal the names of the deceased.
The development has compelled the electoral officers in the council to cancel the election as result sheets were lost in the river where the police officers drowned.

Just because of unfavourable result on the part of either PDP or APC, these precious lives were taken away just like a fowl, leaving the families of both officer in a state of irreparable loss.
