I am talking of the masonry on the floor.Those people who have actually built houses(not noise makers) should have an idea of what those things cost in Nigeria or what Dangote charges for cement compared to elsewhere. For me the masonry on the floor is poor but that is a matter of exposure. The building in the photo is not really in focus so I could not comment on its quality. Go and visit some of the older buildings in the old GRAs in Nigeria or Ikoyi and observe some colonial structures or gardens to get an idea what I am talking about. If you have not grown up in quality you cannot understand it.For many If it is big and shiny "It must be good" for me I am not impressed and I am sure it would have cost a lot that is my point. We don't have to agree but that is no reason for any one like the earlier idiots to try to intimidate me.
I would like to see a 5 million naira home of international standard in Nigeria for the middle class. By the time you spend 100 million and end up with something like this photo then something is very wrong

You are talking to people who have not bought a block before. Nigeria has the worst quality in workmanship of all the places I have ever travelled. If you don't know this fact it is either you have not been outside Nigeria before or you don't know the value of money.

Immediately I saw the pics, that poor landscaping job hit me, and when you made the comment, I knew that's what you referred to, though most people misunderstood it for the building.
I believe that the only way to correct this poor handling of low technical jobs is to institute a functional technical educations board, enforce all artisans to get certifications before practising.
Whenever I enter a new house/building, those poor finishings stick out like sore thumbs in spite of visible huge amounts the owners must have spent. Sometimes you get into hotels and see floor and wall tiles with open spaces in between, or the white cement plastered all over the tiles. It's crazy.

If you go to the so called lekki you will cry for people over poor quality work and materials inspite of millions spent. I was amazed at the quality of finishing I saw in Kigali done by Rwandans.we are too far backwards.

To a large extent I agree with you but there are some good jobs done in Nigeria which I have seen. The issue is when you do landscaping or plant gardens for people who never experienced these things they are happy to see grass and trees whether or not there is any rhyme or reason.One wonders why there are so many trees here.Someone seems confused what "effect" they were trying to achieve.

I have seen enough. I did not use the word BUILDING to mean structure ? I am talking about the landscaping and the paving stones. The first thing that came to my mind was did anyone make a drawing before starting work? There are too many trees is it a plantation?. A curious choice of trees and poor quality stones. When you lay stones on earth the earth sinks afterwards unless it is rammed into the desired shape.This sinking causes the stones to look like a carpet laid out on a bumpy uneven floor.That is what has happened here.But nothing spoil the buyer is oblivious to all these "details" so no problem I guess

I have had cause to have them ripped out and discarded .They get discoloured quickly I suppose from poor materials but you still pay a fortune. For what you pay in Nigeria you could have marble elsewhere and when you complain the workmen look at you like what is he saying. There are still some very old house in Nigeria Old GRA PH and Ikoyi . If you o there you will see what I am on about or go to SHELL also in PH or Warri. I believe in LESS is MORE or a minimalist effect. What is important is that those i high position should be repositories of culture and class . They should be able to discern what is quality from chaff.Sadly this is not the case we are still led by people who would sell us for mirrors and beads

So you also noticed. My initial view was that maybe people do not want to pay for quality work, but seeing this at a Former Governor's residence is dissapointing. The lack of attention to details is appalling. I Design and Build for HNIs, and I can never ever presnet a shoddy work like this to them..reputation don spoil be that.
