989900:You are listing countries that subsidise the cost of petrol for their citizens, this wouldn't have been a problem except that we all agree that subsidies are ultimately counter productive, should not be in place for a very long and have to go sometime. Go back and look through countries that don't have any subsidy on petrol, which is what I stated in my initial post, and check if any of them buy petrol for N40/litre. |

Price fixing will be more of doing the same. What we need is full deregulation. It doesnt make sense that people are stealing huge sums of money in the name of subsidy - when we fully deregulate, market forces will dictate prices. For instance now that crude prices are low we should also be enjoying low pump prices. Some of you may recall that SIM cards were sold for about N20,000 when GSM netwroks rolled out - but with competition, SIM cards are now almost free. Also recall that MTN said per second billing was not possible, but when Glo started it they were forced to bend. So when we deregulate the downstream sector, competitive forces will bring about options and drive down prices |

Anybody that thiinks subsidy is scam should ask himself this question, why is diesel 144naira n not 90,87 or thr about? If tam west thinks there aint subsidy in pms n dpk products then I believe that man is dead in the braiin. Or will he tell us that the costt of refining diesel n fuel iis different? Or the cost of transporting those products too is different? Crude price cantt affectt d costt of refining. |

Come to think of this, doesn't buhari have his own mouth? Why can't this info come directly from buhari? Why would people come to media and tell us buhari will do this buhari will do that and tomorrow buhari will come out and say he don't say anything. Please this kind of propaganda must stop. It's time for serious business, let buhari speak for himself. |

godofwar666:Buhari is not OPEC and he is not World Bank, this incoming government needs lot of funds both locally and internationally to execute its many projects and I don't think selling pump price of PMS @ N40 per litre is part of it......yes he can reduce it a little but no he can't try the N40 mark. Our 70% budget allocations on recurrent expediture and 30% budget spending on capital expediture is killing! |

CHANGE is possible if we can cut the excesses of the federal govts and all the parastatals surrounding the office of the presidency. If we can cut the millions they spend on food stuff, refreshments. Do you know the office of the presidency buys computers, printers and scanners every year? check the 2012, 2013, 2014 budget and see for yourself. For example, if the state house bought computers/ printers and scanners in 2013, why budget and spend 80Million naira for computers in 2014? why budget and spend 2.4Million on printers in 2014? why budget and spend 20Million on scanners? My people, what type of scanners are those do you know they budget for food stuff/ catering at about 200.8 million naira and another separate 162 million naira budget for refreshment / meals? My people what's the difference? Do you know the presidency spend 15Million naira on newspapers and another 2.8million on magazines and periodicals in 2014? With the so much emphasis that we have steady power supply, the state house budgeted 9.4million naira for "plant(generator)/ fuel cost"? If we cut ALL these excesses and plow back these monies into building public schools, maintain the public universities, maintain public health system.... Nigeria will he the envy of all Africans, the Europe of Africa. South Africa no go see our back. Ewooooo; God help us. BUHARI... we are looking up to your government to bring the desired change. Should we talk about the more than 10 jets in the presidential fleet if He inherited 9 jets, why buy additional jets? if we save that money, we can provide RESEARCH GRANTS to Federal Universities to continue to come up with ideas like our fellow universities they send their kids to in the UK and America.source: ">http://www.punchng.com/editorials/jonathans-wasteful-spending-on-presidential-aircraft-fleet ![]() IF WE ARE PRUDENT, FUEL WILL BE LESS THAN 40 NAIRA PER LITRE. THE EXCHAGE RATE WILL BE LESS THAN 100 NAIRA PER DOLLAR AS SOLUDO OPINED. NOTE: All info here are in the public domain... (http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/) I think most Nigerians don't make out time to scrutinize what our govt is budgeting and spending. CHANGE has come and going forward we really need to ASK QUESTIONS. source: http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/pdfs/2014/Understanding%20Budget%202014.pdf http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/index.php/using-joomla/extensions/components/content-component/article-categories/74-2014-appropriation-act |

smsdigito:Now everyone listen up. Buhari is the leader of d APC party, as it were, and whatever his party says is his mind. OK? The problem with the kind of opposition APC has been is that it takes criticisms to the extreme. U give CONSTRUCTIVE criticisms on the wrong policies of the ruling party and commendation when they do right. Not the bring down at all cost kind of opposition we have all witnessed in the recent past. The only reason Tam David West can say this is because when the GEJ government reduced the pump price to N87, the APC still said it was not enough, and if they were in power, they wil make it less. Dont forget its not just what Buhari promised in his recent campaigns. NO. The APC as a party has been making statements for the past 2,3 years now and the new administration will be judged based on the endless criticisms of the APC in the past years. So dont say Buhari should not be held accountable for what West said, because his party, the APC has been making such pronouncements, This only shows that talk is cheap. Action is what counts. Dont criticize because u want to pull the other party down. It has come to your turn. DO IT. Simple!!! |

Bawss1:If we maintain a lean/ moderate govt both at the state house/ presidency and NASS, its possible to subsidize fuel cost, health cost, transportation cost, provide adequate energy to the citizens and even loan to other African Nations. We can grow our reserves to $100 Billion (if we are prudent) |

eziokwu2015:Subsidy will not help in growing the country's reserves. It is ideally a temporal measure till the industry it is applied to is roboust enough. I am no expert on these matters but I can tell you that if it's subsidy which you are advocating for then this country will continue to remain the way it has always been. |

Bawss1:I am not advocating for Subsidy. That's a last option for countries that can't refine or their refineries are not meeting local demand. Why Subsidy? We have four refineries, why cant they work? If govt can't run them, then sell controlling shares to the organised private sector and let them run the refineries. If my memory serves me right, OBJ did sell the refineries but NASS incited Yaradua's govt to reverse it. DIezeani promised Nigerians that the "original manufactures" will carry out TAM and put them back in shape. We spent $Billions, yet we are still at ground zero. Look at the Nigerian budget and the frivolous expenses of the state/ presidency, Different MDG's, the NASS etc. We can do better than these and channel these billions to tangible things that will benefit the common man. |
| Re: Buhari Will Reduce Fuel Price To N40 Per Litre — David-West by eziokwu2015: 11:43am On Apr 14, 2015 |
teufelein:BIG ERROR my friend. There is enough money in this country to finance all and more than what APC has promised. look at the 2014 budget and ask yourself what the govt spend those billions on. For me, they just wasted money... if fact, people carted away monies belonging to Nigeria. look at SURE-P, we spent 87/litre for fuel while the savings went to projects that are not on ground or project that have little to show for the billions spent. Some of these projects will be stalled and abandoned cos Jona's govt is leaving come May 29th.
