There is a rule in the hostels tht students shldnt bath outside. So the female student obviously saw the porter and ran because she was committing an offence. The porter only ran after her cos he needed to catch her red-handed. So taking this into consideration, the female student has no ground for complaint or else she will be giving herself in for a corporate punishment by uniben security for flouting school rules.
In female hostels there are male porters who are accompanied by their female counterparts when going on their normal routine checks. Female porters alone cannot discipline those unruly female students.

If his sisters were treated that way would he accept that?. . He entered the hostel before 8A.m without any female porter which is not supposed to be. The rule is no bathing outside after 8a.m. The issue at hand is what was a male porter(in his 20's) doing in a female histel that early. Routine checks is supposed to be donr by the female porters. To add insult to injury he broke her bucket, slapped her and told her to go rounf rooms apologising ( for what). This traumatic experience has affected this girl in many ways. School security that should have handled the issue and address both parties just made the poor girl feel like a criminal.

@Julie, you're bringing out facts that aren't privy to us. Perhaps you have a first hand info on what transpired. The male porter was NEVER supposed to do a routine check alone at such hour anyway.

I dnt know abt rules of not bathing outside after 8am. I believe students created tht rule themselves. The school authority will never tell students to "bath outside b4 8am".
Anyway, we live in a lawless Nigeria, and we're talking about a typical Nigerian university where there's high disdain for rules and regulations by both students and staff, and yes again, it's obviously the acclaimed almighty uniben security we're talking about, who treats every students as a potential criminal at the slightest opportunity. So I'm not surprised tht she'll be treated as such by the securities.
Basically, students just need to do anything to avoid trouble from authorities while schooling so they dnt end up getting extensions. Thts the bottomline.
