This is a business mogul actually the richest black man on earth who sees business opportunities where average business men don't. He has investments in south west and north and north central even across Africa. But none in igbo land.

Does it literally mean south east is unfavourable for big enterprises to rise?

Good question.

But before you ask why the richest man in Africa is not investing in the Southeast region, you must first ask why southeastern people are not investing in their own region. When you get the answer to that question, you will automatically know the answer to your Dangote question.

Honestly, most Nigerians have some aversion to staying or doing any business in the SE, as even compared to the SS. If I may ask you: Are you welcoming and not hostile to strangers?

Dangote Cement Plc (DCP) is Nigeria's largest cement manufacturer with ambitious plans to expand into 14 other African countries. A fully integrated quarry-to-depot producer, the Group has production capacity of about 19 million tonnes a year in Nigeria. At 10mt, its Obajana plant inKogi state is the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa. The recently opened 6mt Ibese plant is less than 100km from Lagos, in the fast-growing South West of Nigeria. The Group’s Gboko plant, in Benue state, is expected to be upgraded from 3mt to 4mt in early 2013.

Dangote Cement is investing more than $4bn to expand its production and import capacity to around 50 million tonnes a year by the end of 2015. The investment will increase capacity in Nigeria to at least 32mt, with new capacity being added at Ibese and Obajana, and a new factory being planned for Calabar, in Cross River state.

The Group’s African operations will include factories in Senegal, South Africa, Cameroon, Gabon, Benin, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zambia and the Republic of Congo. Import and bagging facilities are planned for countries including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire and Togo.

Dangote Cement is the largest company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, having listed its shares in October 2010.

In summary he has two plants in the north central, one in the South west.
Why not ask for his investments in his home region the North west before asking about the South east? What about North east? What about South south? He is only planning to set up one in Calabar, as of now he doesn't have any investment in the South South.

With Ibeto,Guo,Innoson and very numerous businness tycoons already domiciled there it would be bad idea for Dangote to start there(he will be chewed raw by the stiff competition).....tis like asking GM to go fight for market dominance in Japan, the hometown of Honda,Toyota,KIA,Mitsubish etc....Tis good thinking to fight for dominance in the neutral grounds of Southwest and the rest of the country....You know how those slaves enjoy paid employment and pean nuts....no businness acumen, industry or competition.South West is every industrialist wet dream.

Ofcourse, he is! A quota system billioniare who would have been an ordinary trader without the endless arm-twisting federal government policies that more or else turned him into a monopoly. . That guy moves around with a huge question mark the size of olumo rock hanging pricariously over his head. There is no competitive business/trade where he won't be manhandled and out-hustled in the east. But then if there is a word , your dangote loathes with passion, it is competition.

What point? That the one man cottage industry Innoson can survive Aliko Dangote's economies of scale? That post was too silly to be replied, the fact that it was endorsed by owokobiri certifies its idiocy and should have been a cause for concern.

Sometimes you dont really need to answer some humans.let them continue counting dangote's factories and location while wasting their time pinging without having enough reasoning to even do a common reserch. You just cant help but wonder how some people passed their project defence in Uni.
