the guy is mistaking 'strictness' of igbo when dealing with business to greed...igbos are willing to support each other financially and business wise if the the said person really want to learn but giving you money to flex and leave a lavish life that they can't do, which I commend and respect.
I'm from Edo, my best friends are always igbos right from teen, we are even together now (shayo things). ...though I'm igbo trollerd on here( catching fun), I don't take it personal (what about you?).
Honestly, the greed stereotype is just unfortunate and a diversionary tactics of some tribes. I have friends from many tribes in Nigeria and when they mess up, i treat f^ck up not as a member of a particular tribe bt as a person.

Imagine what happened in our bus last week. the bus developed a minor issue along the road and the next thing we heard was "Driver, give us back our money nah abi u be Igbo man?" People inside the bus had to caution her against unnecessary tribalistic comments.

Hmmm

What would violence and militancy benefit you and your ilks. There can not be any progress when there is no peace. And by the way, the gentleman was spot on about lack of a leader figure amongst u, he never mentioned or attacked any tribe for whatever is going on to your pple, so Why preach violence against other people.

First off, ETC shud know that Igbos came out from the civil war bruised financially yet we were able to rise up. The survival instinct of Igbos is why we have less poverty rate in Igboland that we have inthe North even with their power and individual wealth.

Haven't u heard of Igbo enwe eze. An avarage igbo man choses a direction for himself not waiting on ohaneze. We love our brodas and cud be seen during this last election.

As for bigwigs like Dangote, okoyas Adenugas, Dantatas. I laugh wen u use these men to show enterprenural prowess of theri tribes. Show me any of them aside Dangote that is not out of corruption from oil well acquisition. I remember how OBJ supressed Ibeto just to make Dangote have monopoly of cement sector. Yet Ibeto was able to rise afteer such horendous sabotage from OBJ during his regime.

So my broda Patrick Uche AKA Etcetra igbos are not backward, Igbos are not greedy instead those that have milked this con3 oil dry are d greedy ones. They are d reason the con3 is where it is today not the igbos.

What I like most about the Igbo people. The way they lay percentages and claims without any facts.

I've read someone write, "we eat better than the westerners"... Abeg wey proof?

One wrote, 70% of igbos are majority of the middle class.

Another wrote, "we are the economic powerhouse of the nation"

I just tire. Must you lay claim and state figures you cannot back to make an argument?

firstly food is what can be grown anywhere in where in the world as far as the land is fertile and the last time I checked eastern land is more fertile than any land in Nigeria, secondly you said SS but you forgot igbo nation make up more than 60% of the so called SS eg what is the name of river state governor or the governor elect of delta state, thirdly you made mention of of two individuals over ladipo market, those two individuals and other individuals you can name got their money with the affiliation of government but those guys in ladipo made genuine money with no govt support, igbos have the upper class and the middle class but yoruba and hausas have the upper class and the almajiri class. Guy is high time you stop living in another people's shadow and fend for your self. Go to the village of those people you mentioned you will see rag tag people everywhere, illiterates, touts, pregnant children let me name but a few, but those traders you see at ladipo takes good care of their families train one or two people from their village in school, help in fixing roads, fix light, provide water etc from little they have, that is why you will hardly see a family without a graduate or an undergraduate in igbo land. The greatest mistake Nigeria is making is holding igbos down, igbo is the root of development in Nigeria, and when the root withers what happens to the branches? You answer that.
Funny you!!!

You develop Nigeria while your own land remains undeveloped.

They work for their money indeed! Who does not know where armed robbers and drug trafficking sector of Nigeria economy is based. If we are in a country with a working system, 98% of shops in Ladipo and Alaba market ought to have been possessed and sold by Federal govt. 98% of owners of those shops are nothing but armed robbers.

Let me show you that I have my realistic statistics not assumption-based statistics. I have worked with Nigeria police headquarter before under Tafa Balogun at Edet House. So I m privy to all the information concerning the criminal activities of your brothers.

I have challenged your kinsmen who live either US or UK to prove that Igbos are truly business men by giving us the stat of Igbos engaging in Businesses in either of those two countries and I ll show him at least 10 Yorubas engaging in businesses. What does that tells you? It shows that your brother could only sustain their kiosk businesses in Nigeria with army robbery.

The only Boutiques*Elliot* owned by your brother in Peckham was closed down and relocated to Nigeria. Why? No robbery

The only Club*Club Favour* in Old Kent Road owned by your brother has been sold. Why? No robbery support.

805 owned by Yoruba down the same road has been in existence for years before your brother venture into that area but pack up eventually. Check out the list below and see few businesses control by Yorubas while your so called brothers couldn't run a single one.

Hmmmn, don't know this guy but seem to agree with him.
Its time Ndigbo come together and redefine their prospects in this current arrangement called Nigeria. With the present form in which Ndigbo are organised, I doubt if given the Biafra state they so much crave, if they will make good of it.
There is the need for the Igbos to play down on the individualistic tendencies that has driven them to greed and avarice.
There is a clear need to chat a holistic and people centered ideology that will drive the future Igbo engagement with the Nigerian state.
Deepen the natural giftedness and resilience that once defined the group instead of seeking for short cuts that lead the group to making wrong judgement calls.

The Igbo need true leadership hinged on puritan nationalist ideology.

I know you'll think I'm yoruba but sorry to burst your bubbles I'm not. I'm from a tribe where the king is truly king. A tribe where the king is a graduate of Cambridge University unlike your hopeless and illiterate igwes. The igbos are the criminal class in Nigeria. They're the ones that open beer parlours in Spain and called it an embassy and the people that give Nigeria a bad name wherever they go. Come to think of it. Shouldn't you be out there stealing or something? That's what you yeebos are known for. Haha. It really hurts to be igbo. Now I see how difficult it is to be igbo. Not just the fact that you tried to divide Nigeria at some point in time, you yeebos are the most pathetic and sorry ass tribe in the whole of Africa. A million thanks to the writer. I am just as concerned as u.

There's this simple saying that united we stand and divided we fall. Igbos are divided, and as a result our stance can not hold water in Nigeria. Am however most afraid cause the Igbos I know may never come together under one leadership to champion their course. And until we do that, we will continue saving jail term in Nigeria.

I didn't see this thread on time. Though I'm not from the SE, I strongly feel etcetera is wrong in his writeup and also being silly.

What exactly is he driving at. is it Business? education ? or politics?

No one who knows the owner of Chikason group or the owner of Innoson motors etc will question the business dexterity of the Igbo.

You have erudite scholars, The Odinkalu'''s of this worlds etc.

Even in Politics, we all know that the position of Igbos in this 2015 election sent a STRONG message to Nigerians. in fact the message scared a lot of people that the oba of Lagos was forced to speak. Etcetera would be too foolish not to know this. It is not about producing a Senate President. Those who tell the Igbos that the politics of 2015 was about producing Senate President are those who want to weaken them.

With the position of the Igbo now, They are in a vantage position to give a shot at the presidency and people will take them serious. This is one great thing this 2015 election has shown. only that most people are too blind to see it that way.
My friend will tell me, if you make such statement such as was made in 2015 politics by the Igbo, you will matter when it matters most.

I've always had Issues with etcetera and his opinion, because they sound both daft and intelligent at the same time.

Etcetera Nwanne, we will get there soon but it would not take us public bashing but coming together to forge a front and we are already doing that but you didn't know.

There so many achievements of Ndigbo after the war which no other tribe can match.

Today HausaFulanis are the poorest region in nigeria, just imagine what they would have been like had they been the one went through all we went through.

On the other hand, we eat better and much more well fed than our yoruba counterparts and that too is even after all we went through during and after the war Including the inhumane economic policies orchestrated by awolowo to further humiliate and deny igbos the opportunities of a quick recovery from the losses occasioned by the war effort. But alas we conquered all and came out economically better people today than those who tried all to keep us behind.

Thus we shall also conquered the political huddle before us now. All we need now is time and unity amongst us.
The greatest problem of Igbos I have come to conclude is pride, pride brings the delusion that you are better than your neighbour , pride that you can do it all yourself. A Igbo man whose furthest foray from east would swear that anything north of Edo is poverty stricken when otherwise is the case.

Poverty in Nigeria is unfortunately universal , and surely absolute poverty is less in southwest, Yoruba people have developed the ultimate techniques in being subtle, and the only self sufficient zone in Nigeria as we speak, and always presented a united front irrespective of all our differences. A region of hundreds of kings and domains.

The east has been a failure, is a failure and would continue to be so , no matter as Biafra or otherwose until they realise their many imperfections and build bridges , Ngige and Owelle as castigated as traitors when in all reality are the only keys to the Igbo community reaching that goal of presidency any time soon, no merger with SS can bring that success.

You can't play a weak hand and hope to win.

The Yoruba have assured of that political saying "no permanent friends or enemies but permanent interest" , the Igbo betrayed the first merger in an independent Nigeria , somehow an in-law of Awolowo is about to become the VP talk about coming from the outside to dine at the table. The Igbo kicked themselves out of that table and have decided to stay outside in the cold when an invite to seat at the top of it presents itself

Etcetera, they would not listen to your advice. Lately Igbo men and women believe in living in sentiments and hates but forget that no one can make it without integration. An idage says, a tree doesn't make a forest. Let them continue to live an island life and think there would be result. I've been saying it for over two weeks now that, "Igbo heal thy wounds". Until they are ready to heal themselves, they will continue to rigmarole till kingdom come.

As a people we have our share of problems. The number one problem we have is the lack of communal organisation for political purpose. Its about time we used our umunna meetings to drive a political agenda. Question is who sets the agenda? Ohaneze ndigbo has shown itself inept at any credible representation or mobilization. There is a need for a coalition of the youth, professionals, business men, students and all genuinely concerned ndigbo. An organization that watches the political space and guides our thoughts and activities in politics and economics. Analyse the men and women presenting themselves for political office with a view to identifying those more likely to provide sound leadership. We cant continue the way we are especially within the context of a country seriously divided along ethnic and regional lines, lest we loose our recognition as a major ethnic race. We are endangered and it starts now

It's so unfortunate that after the dead of the Ikemba of Nnewi, the Ogburugburu of Igboland, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegewu Ojukwu, no Igbo man has been able to come close to his class. Ojukwu challenged his people to be of good character and be their brothers keeper but instead most of them has thrown character to the dogs. Nice piece my brother, even Ojukwu would be rolling in his grave. My finally words, the Igbo people are one of the best brains in the world, I envy their technological revolutions, most especially the "Ogbunigwe", the locally made bomb and the "RedDevil", the locally made armoured vehicle both performed efficiently and effectively to international standards during the Biafrian war. I still believe in the course of the Igbo nation and Biafra. One day, the half of a yellow sun shall rise and Biafra will stand! Rest in peace, the great Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Did I hear you say, you still believe in Biafra? Most of Nigerian shouting war has never seen the horrors of war; innocent lives get wasted because of some greedy, egocentric individuals who brandished themselves “Leaders”
