I feel confused right now nairalanders pls advise. I received my I-20 from Virginia International University on the 15th of April stating 4th of May as deadline for resumption. After going on with other process the earliest date i received for my Visa appointment is 6th of May. The University is not ready to issue an extension letter and i have already done the necessary aspa embassy prep. P.s advise

Take your time to fill and complete it and dont rush it...

Just write and save the DS160 barcode so that you can use it to retrieve your application anytime you wish to complete the form

Well said. It is a big issue which just seems to be getting worse.

We're approaching the point where we hav a large number of so called foreign graduates in Nigeria but very little from the very good schools compared to the 70s and 80s where Nigerians were sponsored by the government to attend the Harvards and Oxfords.

Now it's about which school is cheap, does not ask for GRE and Toefl and has no admission fee. Dangerous precedent.

worry357:
So many students in so many countries fall into the trap of picking the cheapest school.
Cheap school reflects in the quality of the teaching.
So when potential employers see the name of a cheap school they rate the student as a poor candidate, so very few job oportunities.
Many times people have wasted all that money and time to end up with no job.
But Nigerians MUST study abroad at all costs! sad

They are trained to pick out people who look as if they have something to hide.
If you are honest, Have school admission and accomodation sorted and have finances in place then you have no need to look guilty.
You should be clear through.

Hello folks,
please just 3 questions.
1. Does having a scholarship offer give a student an advantage in Visa Interviews?
2. Is there anyone that know a great deal about EducationUSA. I heard being a member helps.
3. I learnt from the page that SEVIS can be paid at Seme. Please i'll be glad to know which Bank.
Thanks

Thank you. For how long will the visa receipt be valid?

Walspring:

Is better you apply to another school that is well recognized and has a good research and background reputation and forget about VIU

Then cancel your visa appointment until you get admission into another school

muideeen:
@Adewale1990. kindly get this information right now. The school you got admission from 'Virginia international University' has seriously been tagged at the embassy. so anyone that went with that school doesnt come back with Visa. so try and confirm very well and i am telling you based on what i know about the school... have been Travelling industry for past 6 years now and we have had several and i mean sevaral experiences. so watch it very well.
