Hi y'all,

Please for those in Ottawa/Ontario province...ogasiga, kroner, redribs et all, how much is the cost of living for a month all things being equal. I am trying to fill my form and I put $6000 in the column that says 'other' under funds available for tuition, room and board etc.My dad says I should clarify and not just put any figure undecided

Lastly, pls I know you guys have said this before but just so my father will see it ....the funds to be written on the form are just for one year of stay right...like the tuition and other things are not for the entire duration but just one year.

Thanks!

... Cost of living ranges... Accommodation as well... if ur school has boarding facility... will advise u use their figure... If u wanna rent outside... it depends on the actually location of ur school... Ottawa is huge... but if Ottawa city or close... rent can be from $350 to $500 a month... Ottawa guys... Please correct me if I am wrong... I will say living expenses for a month can be between $500 to $700... thats considering u have bus pass and u hardly eat out...

Other funds... most people put a year estimate... or duration of their program... I will say anything over $5000 is ok...

All correct Boss... Rent is ideal between 350-700 depending on the distance to school, school area being in downtown is normally more expensive.

The estimation of expenses is per year, say Tuition - 14, 500, room and board - 6,000 & other - 4,500 : Total - $25k... And let the cost of funds available be slightly higher than the estimated figure (27500).

I doubt the possibility of him getting admitted into M. Eng in Chemical engineering @uOttawa with that cgpa, it's quite low, not competitive enough per se ...[/quote

The requirement for Nigeria says 2nd class lower, don't see y he should not apply

@benet if u are currently working u have no problem. U just have to let ur employer write a study leave letter approval for u with a the company's letter head paper.then u include it in ur app. Shikena

Note ur employer must state u role in the company and how u are being payed.

SeyiMiilan:
Are u applying via paper or online route? If u are going online, u need to fill on ur computer and VALIDATE, dats all, don't download. Same goes for family info form. @teana4040
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by Oseni007(m): 9:33pm On Apr 29, 2015
The IMM 5832E is the Instruction Kit/guide for filling the other forms. The forms u need to submit 4 paper application is (1)The Study Questionaire,(2)The family composition form,(3)Application for study permit made outside of canada(4)The document checklist(5)Schedule 1(if applicable)...*I stand to be corrected*

UAE and other African countries are not considered by Canadian embassy as travel history, please take note

This is really funny, so did they think, one who travelled to UAE and the likes went on foot?, or everybody must travel to USA and UK before applying for study permit?... crap!

Here's your link.. http://www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=3798&moncontrol=DisplayEqui&country=Nigeria#display

If you check the admissions page, it gives different countries minimum requirements, check what it says for Nigeria...... A friend of mine with an average of 66% just got admitted into M. Eng Chemical Engineering.

What you posted is from the website of FGPS while I got my info from the Departmental website.

Generally, the FGPS is more divergent to accommodate the whole departments (don't rule out the fact that some departments are more competitive than others), while the respective departments are more convergent.

The only condition that can make the Dept go with someone with a 2.2 is if the last 10 courses (30 credit units) or last 2 years of program are above 3.5 (in which case, your friend crossed the pass mark). Most schools in Canada consider the last 2 years of an applicant's undergraduate based on the conception that he /she has specialized a bit at those levels, and can cope in the intended postgraduate program

Hello NLs/Gurus
I've actually been going through peoples post on this thread and it marvels me how good some individuals can be in helping out in cases like travelling abroad. May you be rewarded abundantly.
Although, it's my first time to seek for advice in nairaland, I hope the gurus in the house can help me out on it.
I've gotten my acceptance letter from a College in Toronto for a Graduate Certicate program in Supply Chain Management.
I've a B.Tech in Transport Management Technology (Option: Logistics Management) and 28 of age.
I can provide Job Offer Letter and 3-6 months payslip, but won't be able to provide my personal SOA because it's nothing to show for it.
I want to use someone that's not related to me but base in UK as my main sponsor and use my blood brother's land purchase receipts as Co-sponsor, but won't be able to provide any other supporting doc like affidavit from my brother apart from his passport data page because he stays abroad and believe you me no need to provide his own SOA due to low balance (he prefers landed property to keeping cash in the bank).

My humble questions:

1) The rate at which going for Graduate Certificate Program in a College can fetch one TRV

2) The effect of my age and achievement in granting TRV

3) How bad is using a not related person as a main sponsor?

4) The positive/negative effect of using someone who base in UK as main sponsor

5) Is providing just my brother's scanned passport data page and his land purchase receipts as co-sponsor doc. good enough?

6) Is it mandatory to provide my own SOA?

7) Knowing too well my degree and current job go in line with my prospective program, I really need like 2-3 samples of how SOP looks like in

order to draft a good one to back up my claims.

Thanks in anticipation.
