AWONEYAN:
Muhammadu Buhari Is Our Candidate- Nairaland Progressive by barcanista(m): 7:44pm On Nov 16, 2014
Members of the Progressive Caucus on Nairaland unanimously endorsed General Muhammadu Buhari as their sole candidate for the 2015 Presidential Election. The caucus made the endorsement on Saturday, 15 November and Sunday, 16 November 2014.

General Muhamadu Buhari, a Presidential aspirant on the platform of All Progressive Congress is favoured to win his party's December 10 Primaries and go on to defeat the incumbent President Jonathan of the People's Democratic Party in the February 14th Presidential poll.

He was a former Military Chief that has served Nigeria in various capacity including Military Governor of defunct North West, Petroleum Minister, Chairman NNPC, Military Head of State for 20 months and Executive Chairman of defunct PTF. As a public servant, he distinguished himself as an incorruptible administrator, a gentleman of repute, a disciplined officer and a patriotic statesman.

The endorsement also serve as a message to the APC leadership, conveying acceptance of Buhari by the Progressives and informing the party that the Daura born General is the best man for the job, and the right man to dislodge President Jonathan and the PDP from Aso Rock in 2015.

Please follow your path.
I saw your comment on my thread.
I actually gave it a like.
It made sense to me, even though it's something I cannot carry out personally based on my convictions and ideals.
I just think we can do better with the name callings and mockeries (direct and indirect)....honoris causa tins.

That said,
Let everyone stick to their true calling. If everyone is peaceable and agreeable like me, then Politics of Opposition is dead.
Even the incoming government wouldn't want that.
wink
Babe, my true calling isn't name calling ooo or being an attack dog grin grin grin
...I love peace and I am very peaceable but not at the price APC is selling it tongue

But sincerely, there hypocrisy is much hence shouldn't be allowed to go free...charity begins at home but these guys like mynd44, passingshot etc have Tinubu & sons bleeding their economy dead with corruption and turning a whole region into a limited liability company. Instead of raising their voices against such, they will rather be blind to that and point fingers at others in this case Jonathan...

To show you, that they are against Jonathan not because of good governance but hatred born out of bigotry; they abhor such criticism as they gave Jonathan on buhari; even when buhari is trying to reinvent his negative past into the system...

Somebody obviously will continue to cry us a river till 2019 and possibly beyond.

In the OP's warped logic and reasoning, it's either GMB probes all or none! In his wisdom, it's better to forget the missing $20billion if we cannot probe all past cases of corruptions. What a reasoning!

Anyway, the message I have for you OP is that GMB has the prerogative to choose who and what to probe. He may only be challenged by Nigerians on his failure to probe his immediate predecessor and not all those before him.

And if all past succeeding govts failed to probe their predecessor, that's their problem and not Buhari's.

cool cool cool
This is totally unacceptable, any attempt to single out the minority Ijaw president from the SS for probe will be seen largely as being partial. No one really knows how much billions were stolen under IBB, Abubakar & OBJ.

Change must be total and we welcome it. Jonathan will be an ex-president too just as OBJ & IBB and you cannot single out just one for probe. Any attempt at probing only Jonathan and humiliating him will further fan the embers of division and call for disintegration of this country.

Oga, Buhari cannot just single out Jonathan's administration and go to bed. It doesn't work that way and it won't. He also has a case of missing money on his neck as Petroleum Minister. Did he institute any audit? Is he blind to see the allegation against IBB, Abachas, Obasanjo, Sanusi etc? Was he blind when looting was going on under Abacha when he was PTF Chairman? Buhari should do what is right by looking into EVERY allegation. Whether it takes him 4years or 4 decades I don't care.

Bigotry? Whose bigotry?

Okay, lets sit down and compare.

Fashola under the ACN/APC is governor of Lagos
GEJ under PDP is president of Nigeria.

Whose government am I more confident in?
Hell, I am not even a Buhari fan but the blatant misrule of the GEJ administration has to stop.

Discuss the GEJ government under
1. Power
2. Security
3. Road development
4. Health
5. Education
6. Anti corruption
7. Government presence
8. Economic policies
9. Press freedom
10. Foreign policies
And lets see how well he has performed in these 10 sectors. I think this will help us see how much I am against the GEJ administration due to tribal differences

just saw this thread now. I must say Barcanista did a good job here. Again, if we don't see his post from the APC perspective and be objective, we'd know he made very good points. To be able to clean up NNPC we really have to look at it from past. the objective should be patriotic. A lot of things have happened there. some persons worked for OBJ in NNPC in the 1970s... They were also brought back in 1999..... and there were fraud reports about these people. Even them Obaseki need to clear some things. The problem is that rather than us take a broad view of this issue, we are just foolishly looking for $20billion all with the aim of attacking GEJ because some of us hate him. Its annoying.

I just hope Buhari is not thinking the same way most folks on Nairaland think.

We need to look at the petroleum sector holistically, and not about attacking GEJ.

Fashola is governor with Tinubu as controller...

Jonathan is leaving so there's no point discussing his achievements any further but if I may oblige you on that at all...Outside insecurity in NE where I also blame northern leaders more because boko haram are their fathers, brothers, uncles etc but they chose to sympathise with them and accommodate them. No president/head of state living today has achieved more than Jonathan in other indices listed by you above...Check your the records both international and local without prejudice... Yes, he could better but he's not a bad as painted by you and other APC stalwarts...

Well, I have not heard or read it anywhere that GMB plans to probe GEJ's regime. If anything, he has on numerous occasion appreciated GEJ and assured him of his cooperation and understanding.

What GMB has said is to have a second look at the issue of the alleged missing $20 billion; and nothing more. How this amounts to probing GEJ is still beyond me when the fact is that it's GEJ's administration that contracted PwC to do an audit of the allegation.

And again, shouldn't the fact that NNPC. NPDC and CBN refused to open their books to the auditors, thus making them to qualify the audit as not being an audit, bother any sane and patriotic mind? It bothers me if it doesn't bother you.

1. Fashola is a governor under Tinubu's control bla bla bla. The question is simple. Is Fashola a good governor?

2. This is the problem you guys do not get and I doubt you will. Why should we be stuck with a leader just cos (as you say) "he has done more than previous leaders" who we all agree are failures? In the competitive world of today, we do not care if you are better than your predecessor, the question is how have you fared? Have you seen me (I use myself cos you actually mentioned me in your list and mentioned that I am against GEJ due to some non existent tribal sentiment) compare GEJ to anyone? That is a waste of my time. When I pull out my pen to score the GEJ government, I grade them based on how I see it not comparisms.
Those standards say GEJ does not deserve a second term neither does he deserve the title hero and there goes my personal conviction.

Now please get one thing right, in the APC primary, I will rather have had Kwankwaso win the primary than Buhari as I have more confidence in him to lead this nation but Buhari won so fine. I am a #GEJout person which meant I would have supported Patience Jonathan against Goodluck(not kidding)

As for Fashola, kindly do a comparative analysis of Lagos revenue both from FG and IGR with their intimidating debt burden vis a vis infrastructure on ground...Then come back and tell me what a great achiever he is cool ....If we desire good governance in Nigeria, then we must shun hypocrisy, bigotry and sycophantic tendencies... thanks

Against what standard were you measuring Jonathan?
What were the indices for such grading?
Can you measure him against nothing?
Where were we in 2010 and where are we now?
And the worst of your post is that you would support anything but Jonathan cool who has moved us further far from where we were positively...it summarizes all your position... Even if the "thing" has no clue...it only shows your biase, prejudice and hatred...

To your first question, Fashola outside media propaganda is an average governor. Scoring him good is an over hype...He's just average... People scream him as performing without looking at the books of so much money at his disposal...

This is where you failed. You said Fashola has been an average governor with a population of 15 million, more doctors than the federal government, more civil servants than most states, more state roads and more to spend on infrastructure?

Let me explain to you what works in Lagos
1. A good waste disposal system
2. A commitment to a good transportation network comprising (land and water. Rail to join soon)
3. A working Health sector
4. A working agricultural sector
5. A secured state
6. An investment friendly state which draws investment
7. Heck I stay in Lagos and we don't have issues of water as we open our taps and it flows
8. Improvement in transportation and discipline
9. A commitment to citizens
10. A government that sees a Lagos for all without bias for tribe or gender.

Now you brought up the issue of the books. This is a great idea, why has the EFCC not arrested even if it is the ex governor Tinubu and charged him to court? The only times he was tried he was found innocent.
How come you people have not found mind blowing scandals or are these issues of massive looking in your mind? Give us facts and not hearsay.

You should note that the current speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly is facing charges of corruption. Guess what, he is not returning to the house and the case is ongoing without influence by the state
Re: NNPC Probe: A Welcome Development... by Demdem(m): 12:06pm On Apr 30, 2015
Because of time, GMB should focus on the most corrupt govt since the creation of this country. A cursed government that experienced serious windfall in income never had before in our history and had little or nothing to show for it.
That govt is nothing but Jonah-daft govt. If the Op and his cohorts wants the General to proceed in investigating more than that then the General should be given additional 8 years to his current mandate to have sufficient time to do the job. Twelve years all together should be just enough to probe all these claims since the 60's. For now, the most important is the most corrupt and that the General should focus on.
