This is a huge forum and south Africans are not on the top of the list of discussed issues. We discuss just about every group of Africans in addition to our own internal problems. Most Nigerians don't even think of South Africa or know where it's located on the map. That's how irrelevant South Africa is to the average Nigerian. Maybe if those fools killing other Africans would not kill other Africans then south Africa wouldn't be discussed.

You can't pick and choose. There is no where better than home in a foreign nation (what I mean by foreign is nations with much different cultural experience.) I don't consider countries like Niger, Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso foreign to me because I can relate culturally with them.

However going to countries like Western countries and even some countries in Africa (like South Africa) people face risking being discriminated against. I know for a fact I'll never go or want to go to South Africa, I wouldn't be able to practise my culture there.

It's a threat nothing more nothing less, it would never happen. Lagos is a very multi-ethnic city just like Abuja. Igbo people are here to stay and prosper as they are a very brilliant group of people.

These people are very narrow minded and have no concept of some of the things you constantly talk about, however because I follow your threads and have been active in the Cultural section. I completely get where you are coming from.

If you how anything about mathematics and science, look around the forum, count the amount of threads on this forum and see how many relate to South Africa...

I can assure you that Nigerians care a whole lot more about other West African nations than super distant South Africa.

Nothing could have justified the killings of foreigners in SA. But we should stop blaming some of these countries too bcuz the truth remains that our people in some of these countries like S.A, Indonesia, Malaysia etc are frustrating the authorities of those countries. Our people are some of the worst drug cartels in these countries. Sometimes when these countries give us freedom, we misuse such freedom. I've seen Nigerians behaving even less than animals in some parts of Europe. So you can't blame these people entirely. I'm strongly against the withdrawal of Nigerian envoy to that country. If not for anything, but for the way they handled the synagogue saga. Just saying.....

let me tell you how I joined this forum last yr...every time I tried to google events happening in SA...Nairaland kept on floating,indeed many threads are not about SA but you will find that in most topics SA is been used as a case study..

Nigerians have very analytical mindsets add a result of our over-emphasis of education. Many subjects here are used as case studies.

My favorite past time on Nairaland used to be Pan Africanism, African history, genetics and culture but now I have zeroed in good ol RSA. Everyone should develop expertise on a certain subject matter within a scope of their general interests.

Deceiving yourself into thinking up a false reality isn't healthy. I can tell you with the utmost certainty South Africa is one of the countries I think about the least. I listen to a lot of traditional African music, and South Africa isn't even on the list of countries I listen to. To me, South Africa is a confused nation. When you started using whites and other non-blacks to represent your nation in beauty competitions, I knew for a fact that the nation had severe inferiority complex issues. I don't have time for that sort of thing.

South Africa is in a way irrelevant. Where is the cultural and traditional pride in your people? Some of you praise Afrikaans as an actual language when it's just Dutch.

To me, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Ghana I spend far more time thinking about those countries than distant South Africa. Nigeria first then those countries next. So you can continue to wallow in your own self-perceived importance. Most Nigerians don't care 1 kobo about South Africa. That's just a fact.

Read the book "The devils arithmetic" by Ladi Thompson, might give you good insights into this.

1. You institute a Master/Slave society and exploit its people and natural resources

2. You miscalculate the exponential growth of the subjugated class until mathematically you are outnumbered

3. You prop up an Iconic symbol to create a bridge between you and the oppressed people in an attempt to resolve the mathematical problem

4. YOu hand over power with promises of equalizing the society and redistributing wealth. YOu sell the dream but in reality you retain the class systems.

5. 20 years later, the dream is not realized yet and another 100 more it probably won't judging from similar countries with similar issues.

6. Viola you have South AFRIcA in a nutshell.
