Sir this years budget stands at 4.49trillion with a greater percentage of funds allocated to recurrent expenditure. The country doesn't have the resources to meet the budget expectations as it stands so this request of yours will just sink the country
where is that enthusiasm for change!

By my opinion, NLC leadership is steupid and without focus or vision. If the 90k is approved, inflation will set in and the 90k will become worthless. I think nlc is leaving the real issue to fight against irrelevancies. I guess they should use their power to stop corruption, force national assembly members to reduce their salaries and make the government more accountable to the people. This approach of salary increase is very myopic.

You're entitled to your own opinion. Once again, paper economy is a fraud. Accounting has always been manipulated to favour the political mafias. How did Sanusi discover that $20Billion was missing? If you study the budget for that same fiscal year, you'd realize that there's no expenditure pointing to or allowing such, and that shows that there's an economic backdoor being used to siphon funds from Nigeria. Take it or leave it sir.

it is not realistic, some states are almost crashing just because of 18,000 minimum wage.
Your anger stems ffrom the fact that the politicians are feeding fat from the same resources, but u need to ask, what is the population of these govt thieves versus civil servants.?

Let me give a scenario , if I am in charge of feeding 20 adults, myself inclusive and given 20 moulds of rice which is grossly inadequate, maybe possibly what is realistically adequate is 100 moulds of rice.

As the one in charge of the 20 moulds of rice, I can keep 8 moulds to myself, and distributes the left over 12 moulds to the 19 others , offcourse the others on discovering how well I feed will grumble and might even claim that we have more than enough to feed ourselves.

Nigerias source of income is crude oil sales (NNPC) + Taxation (FIRS), Import duties (Custom) Export duties , ........., abi u sabi any major money coming in outside these major ones huh A 4.5 thrillion naira budget for the population of the country is shitty , dnt be deceived.

Other Kogi lawmakers blamed the pay cut on reduction in monthly allocation to the state.
Mr. Melaye was reacting to the announcement by the Kogi State government this week, of a 40 per cent pay-cut in the salaries of public and civil servants in the state.

He blamed the Kogi State salary slash on bad governance.

Mr. Melaye said workers in Kogi for years received a percentage of their salaries, and said the incoming All Progressives Congress, APC, government will address such abuse.

“The APC has a guideline that controls every governor of every state and I can assure you that the issue of revenue generation will be taken care of by the party,” he said.

Hassan Omale, member-elect represent Ankpa, Omala, Olamaboro federal constituency in Kogi State, also said workers in the state had not been collecting complete salaries for a long time.

“In the Local governments, since the last three years they have not received their complete salaries, they have been suffering there,” he said.

Other Kogi lawmakers blamed the pay cut on reduction in monthly allocation to the state.

The governor, Idris Wada, had on Wednesday announced a 40 per cent pay-cut in the salaries of public and civil servants in the state as a result of dwindling revenue.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Jacob Edi, the governor said the state got N2.5 billion as allocation for April, while its monthly

$20billion was the amount of money the country generated which was not paid into the federation account by NNPC. That was what Sanusi discovered

Which brings us to A.1: The origin of the budgets! Nigeria runs an oil-dependent economy and it's the proceeds that are used for budgetary allocations. Assuming the fraud was just before the commencement of a new fiscal year, If that fraud wasn't detected by anyone, do u know that they'd have just made a budget based on what we're told is available?..... about the $20Billion..... And when it wasnt paid into the federation account, did we know about it or did it stop businesses from going on as usual?

We didn't know about it because those spendings were off budget and remember we are talking about salaries here. Salaries are accommodated in the budget and with the latest budget that was passed by the National Assembly the minimum wage as proposed by the NLC is just unrealistic

And what I'm saying in essence is that if we cut off the leakages in our economy, we can afford these things.

Yes we can afford them but 'cutting the leakages' will take some time and it will definitely not happen in a year.

If you are going there with this same mentality that the government can't pay 90k minimum wage while you want to be collecting millions, I pray you will never be elected.

I won't be as crazy as to promise my constituents 90k minimum wage when I'm aware of the realities on ground and I believe what Nigerians need are leaders that have the interest of their followers at heart when making decisions because they've heard a lot of promises

Bros the 90k demand by NLC is ridiculous and IMPOSSIBLE for now. Yielding to this demand will mean borrowing lots of money to meet workers salaries which inturn will spell doooooom to the economy that we may not recoved for the next 100years. What NLC should demand is that government fix our roads, provide water, fix refineries, and create a favorable economy so that the real income can be able to purchase value. I wonder whether these ppl understand economics

the amont being looted yearly by our politician is sure more than the national budget every year.

For example, there has never been 100% budget implementation, the most is 60 to 70% the remaining unspent fund have never been accounted for.

i support NLC in this matter.
the minimum wage should be raised to 200,000 naira!
Nigeria is a oil rich nation like Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
In Saudi, they pay you 400,000 naira if you do not have work.
My friend is working in Saudi.

If you work, your minimum wage is 1 million a month.
That is why the national assembly give themselves 20 million.
If buhari can collect the money from them
and stop corruption,
he can pay workers more than 200,000 naira!
and I thought the deranged only stay in the psychiatrics?
