the truth is, deities are modified by the cultures and people they are found in. . the Christian version of the bible god is remarkably and obviously very different from what the jews had.

Well the op claimed not to be an atheist, hence if the question was for better understanding, the reply given should be found helpful. Thank you too. The answer is not far-fetched but I believe the op also has a Bible and same access to God that I have.

In other words you don't know/have the answer to help him out. I thought Christians with better understanding of the scriptures helped other christians who don't, the apostles did so what's stopping you?. I thought Christians pray to their god on behalf of others and themselves. You claim to have access to your god, why not pray and post the answers here, the OP and many would-be Christians(even non-christians) will definitely learn from the thread in years to come.

Like i said earlier, the issue of sin and redemption is PRIMARILY spiritual, every other thing is an add-on. Human beings are spiritual entities or are meant to be. Our spirit is supposed to be primary though what many revert to nowadays is physical or bodily well being and living over and above the inside. When man was made, God told him that he would die the day he disobeyed.

Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

When man disobeyed, the real him(his spirit) died. To die basically means to be separate. When you die physically, your soul is separated from your body. When the bible talks of the believer dying daily or dying to the world or so, it basically means to be separate. So Adam(man/humanity) died, becoming separate from God. God is a Spirit, angels are ministering spirits as well. What is PRIMARILY connected to God is our spirits. Man lost that connection/fellowship at the garden of Eden. The influence though affected every other sphere of man and his environment as man is the crown and head of the earth and its fullness. When the head suffers, of course other parts will feel it.
Therefore in redemption or salvation, the PRIMARY and sure action is a reconnection/reconciliation with God. That's the SPIRIT, remember. When you are saved, born again, redeemed, or whatever term you are used to, what you have(the real deal) is that connection to God, eternal life, which is of course the main thing since it is for eternity. Every successful person and wise person has priorities and that is God's priority and guarantee. The main link restored. That is the base line and guarantee for EVERYONE, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. You get eternal life and eternity with God. All the other perks that come with it as good as we find them, are not primary to God. A poor Lazarus, a sick Dorcas can get to Heaven and spend eternity with God. Healing, Health, Wealth are good and God gives them, but they are not the PRIMARY aims of redemption. In fact, anyone can have them, God blesses anyone with them. Since God blesses anyone with them, we do encourage and admonish christians to be part of these 'blessings' if possible. There are many ways and roads to receiving the blessings of healing, health and wealth. There's one way to receiving the blessing of eternal life. CAVEAT, you can gain healing, health and wealth and still lose your own soul. Wisdom is profitable to direct and prioritize.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

This like as being explained is by the way. The real punishment is the spiritual death which happened in that instant. That one is eternal and unthinkable. This one is manageable, we have women that still go ahead to have 15children. i've never met a couple that do not want children despite the challenge of child delivery, or the loss of peace and money they will incur by having children as against not having. Still and yet, there is succour and God works miracles. Prayer is important, faith, love, holiness and sobriety are also important. Even those that don't have all these are managing and giving birth to twins and triplets. Yours will not be worse in Jesus'name. Healthcare, research and medicine are also available for us to take advantage of. Let's work towards these, take courage, seize the moment, and of course expect Jesus. When He comes, He will wipe away ALL tears, and there will be no more pain. He never promised no more pain after you are born again, He promised no more pain AFTER He comes again.

If you research the Bible very well to know the whole essense of redemption you will agree wit me that redemption is to recover back what has been lost. We lost our spirit relationship wit God and that is what Redemption returns back to us when we get saved. Redemption is different from recreation which would av taken care of sickness,poverty,childbirth pain etc dat resulted. And that is why our perfection is called Christian perfection(perfect spirit) which is different from Adamic Perfection(perfect spirit and body);b4 d fall.Then again the work of Redemption Jesus came to this to do is by choice. If anyone embraces it d person can have his or her spirit relationship wit God restored. Now once u av been saved from sin u r free to ask from God what u want for urself and God will do it. Then do not think Christianity in d direction of d flesh. lack of money, sickness, death are still in dis world. U can always pray to God for whatever u want from him.In the Bible we read about the Hebrew women in Egypt giving birth easily without pain. So it is a matter of telling God what u want from him as his or her child.
Look at d issue of temptation, dat u r saved does not say u will not b tempted wit sin. What u r to do is not to yield.

The simple answer is dat we are still in d world and dat this is not our home. Redemption is not physical but spiritual. That is why as a Christian ur spiritual problem can never b joked with b4 God but physical one if God wills it will b solved. God's response to Paul concerning d thorn in his flesh confirms to us dat our physical problem after much prayer is dependent on d will of God. Even look at dis if everything is rosy pple will never b willing to go to heaven. There will equally not b faith and hope. Even there will b no miracle. You will not know hw powerful God is when u pray.
The good news is dat in the millennium reign of Christ every curse will b lifted. The wild animals will not b carnivorous again.no blind person again etc. The devil is still a stakeholder in dis earth - he is often referred to as the prince of dis world. But at d millennium reign of Christ d devil b cast into d button less pit. The world will totally b free from his vices. The whole of this can b referred to as d plan B of God for mankind.

You will notice that verse 24 describes the mission of Christ on earth. and the price for this was paid by Christ as verse 26a pointed out at the end of the 62nd week. Now, the 69th week will end with the first phase of the second coming of Christ called the catching away of saints (rapture) between the 69th week and the remaining 1 week (that describes what will be the activities of the anti-christ called the prince as shown in verse 26b,27& Revelation 13 etc)is the mystery of the Church age.

The church age was born on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out. The church age ends with the rapture but the period being a mystery, its end is not given. This was a mystery to the old testament prophets Ephesians 3:5,6, 1 Peter 1:10-12. The Holy Spirit has been described as the," earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession."Ephesians 1:14. Earnest there is synonymous to an advance payment, a foretaste. Hence the full benefits of redemption will be realised after the end of 70th week. Now it's the fore-taste in a spiritual sense. And those who reject this disqualify themselves of the other when the full redemption comes.

Like some posters above pointed out, the church age brings out the spiritual benefits and restoration provided by the death of the Messiah. The 70th week will end with the coming of Christ to commence the Millenial reign,Revelations 19:11-21; the Millenial reign(a precursor to the Final redemption Isaiah 65:21-25.)Revelations 20:1-6; The battle of Gog and Magog and the devil's final judgement Revelations 20:7-10; and The Great White Throne Judgment Revelations 20:11-15.

After all the foregoing then there will be the full realisation of the benefits of redemption as described in Revelations 21:1-8,"...4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely."
