Are u sure this is nigeria refinery? Where is the first one located? why are we still paying so much on subsidy? Why are we still importing refined products?

I am very sure GEJ would have used it to compaign if this is true. And I am also very sure OP just saw it somewhere are decided to share.

Or the first refinery is just completed or still under construction.

God bless Nigeria.

Scammer!

How did Imam Buhari build them?

Did you read where it said NNPC acquired one of them from Shell and another one built in 1988?

If he built anyone at all, it's likely Kaduna refinery which must have been as a result of his Northern hegemonic interest.

Just like his priority currently is to explore oil in the Chad Basin.[/size]

you're so onpoint with this post...the way forward is to remove fuel subsidy and encourage deregulation of the sector...it's just painful that Nigerians are yet to really understand how beneficial these policies are to the economy
We have no option than have subsidy removed!

Our biggest problem as a nation is illiteracy and our mob mentality. That is why corruption thrives.

Nigerian government has never ran any organization right... Its always run aground because of the unproductive mindset of an FG employee. NNPC, NITEL, Railway corporation, NEPA etc

As such, any attempt to have the FG run refineries will be an utter failure and I don't need a sooth sayer to say that.

Secondly, these refineries were built on archaic process modules in the 70s and 80s and no attempts have been made by subsequent governments to upgrade to newer technology.

Repairing these refineries at this time is like trying to fix a 1975 peugeot truck whose spare parts and accessories have long been stopped in manufacturing by the vendor. Any attempt to try to fix the refineries will require paying more for it to the equipment manufacturers fabricate custom made equipments to fit our moribund refineries.

The cost of fixing these refineries will build two new refineries each.... Then why fix them? Only the heavy ends will be economic for an entrepreneur at the moment.

The Way Forward
Take away fuel subsidy and issue refining licenses to renowned downstream companies. The FG can get into a JV agreement to retain ownership like is done in the upstream and exploration industries.

In the long run, FG can afford to sell crude to the local refineries at subsidized rates for local consumption. The employment and business prospects of the downstream is enormous. But we need relative peace in the SS region for these to be viable.

GEJ was headed this exact path but we lot were too blind to see.
Bruv they know all this but would loot and go build mini refineries in other countries like Trinidad and Tobago.OBJ is guilty of this.

So much was expected from GEJ been a SS,only for him and his lootocrat crew to worsen the situation with their " I don't give a damn" attitude.

To build mini refineries will not take decades, don't mind the thieves who always pad and inflate contract values, also create the imaginary impossibility of building more refineries in Nigeria.

They are all bastards!!!!

Yes and a very strong yes, it can be built before four years.

Full Overcommitment on the part of the Government, a Chinese company that built a 57-storey skyscraper in 19 days can replicate the same feat
here in Nigeria.
its only corruption that has been pulling wools over our eyes to the REALITIES OF LIFE !!!!
Tell them o.

It usually takes minimum of 3 years from concept to Start-up. The time span involves the following;
-Feasibility study (Usually takes 6 months*)
-Configuration selection, Technology selection, Basic engineering package preparation (Usually 6 months*)
-Critical equipment engineering, Issue of design documents for Long-lead equipment’s, materials which takes time to design, construct, procure, and arrive at construction site (Usually before 1.5 to 2 years of Oil IN)

I have always said that if only our leaders/politicians will eschew selfishness and greed and hit the ground running as soon as they are sworn in into office with people oriented policies and developmental programs such as fixing our existing refineries and constructing new ones so that this shameful and wicked act of importing what God has gracefully given to us will stop, and pump price of fuel sold at N40 p/litre. They will not go all the length they used to during campaign because their work will speak for them. But instead they will choose to take care of themselves and their cronies from what is meant for the. publick. And when it is campaign time they will embark on cosmetic fire brigade approach and running from pillar to post bribing the electorate with the false hope that the peanuts they are shearing will help them. I really hope this incoming government will do something positive this time. God bless Nigeria.

You said u like Transformation and you hate change! Can I ask u few question? What is transformation? What has the present administration done in the past six yearshuh? Bombing here and there, killing of innocent souls, high level of corruption, stealing of public funds, rapping, kidnapping, lies about job creation , Poor roads, electricity failure and many more, this is GEJ have been in the system since 16 years ago, from Deputy Governor - Governor, from Governor - Vice president, from Vice President - Acting President, from Acting President to President . He has been in power for 16 years and he wanna spend 4 years more making 20 years! Haba? What are we saying! Is this what u like? Transforming Nigeria to Congo which is the poorest country in africa! Guy if u have the privilege to become a local government chairman, I know u won't do anything good than looting the public funds, Rather than Change! Change is constant. Anybody who can't change can't progress in life. Can't u see the wind of change is blowing in governmental sectors, eg oil sector, missing money, fear or going to jail by bad leaders, outing an end to corruption and many more! My friend change your idea and be part of the common sense resolution.
