The amount that is missing is 49 billion, 20 billion, 10 billion, 5 billion, 12 billion and 20 billion...

u have still not done the math, 5 billion × 40 plants = 200 billion dollars, our present budget for 10 years...

1. Is money missing at all? Did Diezani agree that an amount is to be remitted?

2. Did the PWC report admit missing money?

3. Is a country's money suppose to go missing under FG's watch?

4. Did Jonathan tackle corruption headlong? You never talked about the "Nwobodo statement"??

5. The missing money; whether 1kobo no go go a long way in fixing some of these issues?

6. How much has the PDP led government spent on Power generation in the last 16yrs vis-a-vis the progress in power that you lots want us to continue with them?

7. How much did Jonathan spend in his campaign?

Why can't Nigeria go big and build a nuclear power plant?
.

Because it's too dangerous with lack of maintenance culture, militancy, vandalism and terrorism present in our country. Look at the scare from the Japanese nuclear power plant some years back. Germany is even planning to decommission all her nuclear plants.

We have had of vandalisation of pipelines but oddly no one has been caught and prosecuted and made to confess.

Could it be because it is those in government who are behind it?

Very soon it will be zero. Buhari needs to bring his own blue print to d table, if it is in line with privatization den he need to fucking review the one jonathan did or cancel it out rightly. Obasanjo and Jonathan have really messed up big time as regards power. I don't expect the general to mess up too. He doesn't need to fix everything at once, just take one major problem like power and solve it and ur name will be written in gold

I am pretty sure this perennial problem is more of political will than technical know-how.
This is the result of the fraudulent privatization that some saTANists wants us to celebrate and praise gej for.
What else can we really expect when the gov. sell public assets to their friends and allies as compensation for their roles in dirty politics just to hang on to power. I flew in to Nigeria some months back in the night and everywhere was dark - sharp contrast to what I saw when I left and got to my destination also in the night.

While privatization is the way to a lasting solution to this disgraceful problem, using it as a compensation for cronies can only produce more reduction in available power - how else do we explain lower available power when gej was on commissioning spree a week to elections.

I know for sure some private companies are already generating electricity from gas. I strongly believe this can be replicated by the discos. It is only when it comes to IPP that gas supply becomes an issue. The discos should be given a "partial" license to generate a fraction of the electricity demand for their area. All legislation barring them to generate should be relaxed. Imagine kaduna disco or eko disco or phed generating about 30% of the demand. Add that to what is already being supplied to them from the grid. It should come to about 60%. At an individual level, this translate to about 16 hours of electricity for everybody.

Their is no miracle Buhari can perform if we have to wait for the national grid. The discos needs to be given a bit more role.

And where will they get the gas to fire their plants or the water to fill their dams, eh. It is all so easy to criticize but the main problem is feedstock. Even the plants located atop gas fhelds are not immune.

Might not be up to 2trillion but bro, that money is up to 1trn...So in your mind of minds, politicians spend according to what the constitution states? And so you think Nigeria's budget money is all Nigeria has got? Gej's campaign spent more than what is being spent in campaigns in other countries. Quote me anywhere...

We should be ashamed of ourselves, "the three gorges dam" in China cost less than 10 billion dollars, what is the coal in enugu wasting for, a coal plant in missouri US generates more than 15k megawatts, what the gas being flared in ND being wasted for, build up more gas turbines, sometimes am ashamed to be called a nigerian cry

The problem with people like you is that you fail to see you're being fed with lies and will rather clap for mediocre performance while creating all sort of excuses for a failed government. Why not ask companies like flour Mills that are generating power from gas where they get the gas from. Or are they not in this same Nigeria?
Flour Mills has also made significant investments in power generation. The Company has 11 General Electric (GE) Jenbacher gas generators at its Apapa Mills, with a combined capacity of 30 megawatts. This has enabled the company to reduce the occurrence of production stoppages. In addition, the Company has a 30megawatt diesel plant at the same site to act as a backup in the event of any shortage of feedstock to the gas generators.
http://www.fmnplc.com/home/about.php

Imagine flour mills have enough gas to generate power. I bet EKO disco and many other discos can do same if given the right. i dare say gas is not the problem but political-will
while I will not rule-out saboteurs, it still boils down to political will to get the situation arrested.

msmon:
Power supply from the Transmission Company of
Nigeria (TCN) has dropped from 2,979.06 Mega
Watts (MW) recorded last Sunday to 2,817.05MW on Tuesday, the Federal Ministry of Power said.

Supply by Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry,
according to the power statistics which the ministry
posted on its website yesterday, dipped by 162.01MW in the period under review.

Of the 2,880.72 MW that the Electricity Generation
Companies (Gencos) produced, the TCN wheeled
2,817.05 MW to the Electricity Distribution
Companies (Discos), leaving 63.67MW stranded in
transmission.

The electricity market, however, reached a peak of
3,114.60MW from the 2,893.7MW recorded last
Sunday, showing an increase of 220.9MW.

The Group Executive Director, Gas and Power,
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. David Ige, explained that the loss of 400 million
standard cubic feet per day (mscf/f) of gas and
reduction in water level at the hydro plants was
responsible for the decline in power supply.

According to him, some major pipelines were out of
operation because they were vandalised as
generation from Shiroro hydropower plant dropped to about 300MW due to inadequate water level.
Ige assured that once the water level hits about one
billion cubic feet a day (bscf/d), the electricity market would record a significant improvement.

The NNPC chief was quoted as saying: “At the
moment, gas supply to power stations is about one
billion cubic feet a day (bscf/d). Before the end of this year, we expect to see a significant increase as well. Cumulatively in the country, we are producing about two billion cubic feet of gas per day. Some of the gas we produce are available, but is probably stranded because some of the plants are not ready.
For example, we have got gas at Gbarian-Ubie power plant, commissioned shortly. We have gas at Omoku, which is awaiting the power plant. We have gas at Egbema power plant. When you bring all these volumes together, we have close to two billion cubic feet per day.”

But, the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company yesterday explained the
reason for the loss of electricity supply to some parts of its franchise area, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement, the firm said the loss of power supply was as a result of the sharp drop in the quantum of power made available to it by the System Operator, which it said was attributable to a (partial) system collapse.

The company, however, said all concerned players in electricity supply industry, especially the generation and transmission companies, were already working on the system with a view to restoring supply as quickly as possible.

Pledging that it would immediately distribute the
load allocated to it by the System Operator, the
management appealed for the understanding of its
customers.

I was amazed as i was told that a chinese company manufacturing tiles has never had power interruption for two years running. They actually have a hybrid generator that supplies power to the complex. This generator is powered solely by gas. How on earth does this companies get gas supply without the usual hue and cry of gas pipeline vandals that the transmission companies are known for. There is more to this than the eye can explain. There discos should be encouraged to source their gas from wherever they can instead of waiting for the ever failing supply from national grid.

It sad to hear power problem in nigeria every day to me we still have same technocrat adviser for nigeria electricity for which are not looking at basic problem my lectural will say engineering students should always remember basic problem right from your nd because you always build on it there is no new equations even though at your doctorate level the only change is your level of reason .so to me the new government should not be carry away with Nnpc advice that gas A awaiting Plant etc is a way of misleading that how they use white paper to deceive gej which he followed blindly and end up in this mess. If there could be other means like nuclear plant let give it atrial and stop running this country like one man business i know some people are kicking against the nuclear power because they know nothing about it and is bad for their business.let us break monopoly and open the market for the good of common man on the street.

I wonder o. It seems the best way is to share this power generation into zone or state; let each state or zone start generating its own power and add the excess to the national grid... In this case, if OPC, MASSOB or AREWA chose to vandalize the infrastructures in their own zone, only that zone will be affected. When the people in that zone realized that they will be the only ones suffering when their militant brothers go about vandalizing structures, they will be forced to stand up to them instead of shouting NO BE OUR BROTHERS...
I am just waiting to see what Buhari will do so I will know if I should plan for solar inverter or not. I don tire for this country.
