Flying Eagles foes Brazil take on Portugal Flying Eagles World Cup opening day opponents Brazil will take on Portugal in a warm-up match on May 24 in Australia. The match will be played at the Estadio Kogarak Park. Both teams clashed in the final of the 2011 U20 World Cup in Colombia. Nigeria begin their 2015 campaign on June 1 against five-time champions Brazil. When the Flying Eagles last clashed with the Samba Boys, the match ended in a goalless draw at the 2005 tournament in the Netherlands. The Nigeria U20s will also battle North Korea and Hungary in Group E. |

I think we still need to come back to Keshi's comment . He shld stop deceiving himself , this guys doesn't need to prove anything again to him , they are ready to be part of the super eagles, all he need now is to catch them now and they he shld keep grooming them to work together . |

Keshi to me is a master of deceit. He says the boys must prove themselves. I say the boys have nothing to prove. The home based players he calls and tells the boys to prove themselves to have being beaten blue black in the Super 6 tournament by the U-20 team. Keshi needs to stop overrating himself. He's been offered a second chance. I hope he does not squander it. |

Keshi plays players that can not even command starting berths in local clubs.... Nonsense!!... Seriously, How does a Gbolahan Salami start for the super eagles Our standards are so low, thanks to Keshi.... In other news, Ndidi played 90 minutes today in Genk's 3:2 win.... |

joseph1013:Pinnick is smart enough , he sees the weakness in him and he has a program to enroll him in coaching academy , I think this will help his decision making when it comes to player selection based on performance merit ....not by size and maturity . Super eagles needs younger blood in that team . And the young blood are the present flying eagles , they shld graduate them to d super eagles after the wold cup . It's very simple. |

Brazil In Disarray Ahead Of Flying Eagles Game https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/209130/7/default.jpg With less than 20 days to the start of the Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand, Nigeria's opponent in their opening game, Brazil, have sacked coach Alexandre Gallo. Nigeria will be hoping to pick her first win at the Under-20 level against Brazil when both teams clash in New Plymouth on the 31st of May 2015 and their chances have received a big boost. Gallo was dismissed as coach of the Under-20 and 23 teams of Brazil, following a string of poor results and his replacements were named almost immediately. New Brazil Football Confederation president Marco Polo Del Nero ordered a change of coaches in their youth teams in his bid to reposition their football after a disastrous world cup campaign last year. SL10.ng sourced from the media in Brazil that the coach was axed due to the team poor performances especially at the last Copa America under-20 championship. The man who will now be in the dug out against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria will be Rogerio Micale while senior team coach Carlos Dunga will handle the Under-23. |

Manu says he has final World Cup squad https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2015/05/Samm_7_May_4.jpg Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has disclosed he has a clear idea of the 21 players he will take to the U20 World Cup in New Zealand later this month. “I am fully clear on my final squad for the World Cup, but that is not to say there could not be one or two gate crashers,” said Manu Nigeria will submit a final 21-man squad on Friday, May 15, to FIFA. Genk defender Wilfred Ndidi is expected to join up with the rest of the squad on Monday, while three other Europe-based stars – Isaac Success, Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon – are still being awaited. The Flying Eagles have been training in Nurnberg, Germany, for a week now. They will play their first test match in Germany against Hoffenheim U23 team on Tuesday afternoon. |

Ezeh, Bulbwa shine in Flying Eagles training Chidera Ezeh and Bernard Bulbwa have sparkled in Flying Eagles training in Nurnberg, Germany. On Friday evening the African champions played a two-a-side game between the main team and the second team, which ended in a 2-2 draw. FC Porto ace Chidera Ezeh and Bernard Bulbwa, who grabbed the AYC winner last month, scored for the first team, before Wasiu Jimoh netted a brace for the other team. They will play their first test match in Germany against Hoffenheim U23 team on Tuesday afternoon. They are also scheduled to take on Nurnberg and Freiburg before they leave for New Zealand. |

Siasia Impressed By The Flying Eagles https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/209217/7/default.jpg Dream Team VI Coach, Samson Siasia has confirmed that he will elevate most of the U20 players to the U23 sqaud, after the FIFA U20 World Cup. Siasia, himself a former Flying Eagles coach, says he will keep a keen eye on the team and adds that he will be following their progress in New Zealand. “They are in my plans of course,” he told sl10.ng in an interview. “I will watch their games at the U20 World Cup and the best of them will join us when they’re done. “It’s natural for them to progress from the U20 to the U23. Remember I did it too when I was the U20 coach and later the U23 coach. “It’s a Nigerian team and not a Siasia team. If we think anybody is good enough, we will bring them in but the U20 boys are definitely in my plans.” Speaking further, the former Super Eagles coach also admits that he has been impressed by the team. “Of course I am. Who doesn’t like good things? We brought Taiwo (Awoniyi) in before our last game against Zambia, he came in and scored two goals for us so I have to be impressed,” he concludes. |

The Ivorian U20 captain (former U17) has had caps for his national team and the ivory coast has far better players than Nigeria. Nigeria does not have a right back yet Musa Muhammad has not been given a shot. Keshi played his first game for the super eagles at 17. |

lexyman:He is impressed with the performances of rookies. Keshi is sentimental and biased in team selection. I was thinking the pinnick led NFF will handle the Super Eagles to an interim coach say, Amodu Shuaibu. Then after the world cup, elevate Manu and Ugbade as handlers for the Super Eagles coaches. I thought the job should be given to coaches that have done well for Nigeria and as it stands, Manu Garba has played in 5 tournament final with 4 trophies. .. I still insist that Keshi contract should be revoked. if he assemble a bunch of rookies and beat Chad, he will start babbling kabash. he keeps relying on players firing blanks in their clubs. . |

lexyman:if those U-20 boys are going to the Dream Team Sia1 bettter know that he's gonna either lose his job or get demoted. As for Keshi that's forming bad guy P there, he is also sitting on a time bomb, soon, Manu will take his job too and he'll be released. Wherever those boys go, Manu goes. We don't need all these washed up coaches ruining Manu's hard work. Siasia should be ashamed that it took Awoniyi coming in to help his team of useless Senior citizens qualify for AAG. I hope he's working on those ancient men instead of waiting for the U-20 WC to finish so he can snatch up some of those kids |

SL10 Chats To Samson Siasia https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/209224/7/default.jpg The Dream Team VI resumes camp on May 25, ahead of the qualifiers for the 2015 CAF U23 championship slated for Senegal. The Nigerian U23 will face either the Black Meteors of Ghana or Congo Brazaville in the third and final round of the qualifiers. And ahead of their resumption to camp and ahead of the qualifiers, sl10.ng speaks with Dream Team VI Coach, Samson Siasia in this exclusive interview. The former Super Eagles striker talks about their All Africa Games qualification, the CAF U23 championship qualifiers, and the 2016 Olympic Games. Enjoy. Sl10: Coach thanks a lot for giving us your time again. Let’s start by congratulating you for the All Africa Games qualification and you also telling us your plans for the team when you resume later this month. Siasia: Thank you very much. I said after we qualified for the All Africa Games that the work is just starting now because we have to go to the games and do well, then we have the CAF U23 championship qualifiers, the championship itself, and the big one – the Olympic Games. So this is where it all begins and we have to start working in earnest. Sl10: You started last November with a screening exercise. Is it going to be the same this time? Siasia: No. we’ve gone past that now. Of course we’ll still have some new players come in, those we think can make the team better but there won’t be an open screening exercise. We have the semblance of a team now – a structure so to speak – and we must build on that. We can’t afford to be starting afresh again. The only thing we’ll do is bring in new players we have seen that we think can make us better because it’s an ongoing process. Sl10: Does these new players include the U20 lads? Siasia: Of course. They are in my plans and I will watch their games at the U20 World Cup and the best of them will join us when they’re done. It’s natural for them to progress from the U20 to the U23. Remember I did it too when I was the U20 coach and later the U23 coach. It’s a Nigerian team and not a Siasia team. If we think anybody is good enough, we will bring them in but the U20 boys are definitely in my plans. Sl10: You’re impressed by them (U20) aren’t you? Siasia: Of course I am. Who doesn’t like good things? We brought Taiwo (Awoniyi) in before our last game against Zambia, he came in and scored two goals for us so I have to be impressed. I will be following them at the World Cup and I hope they do well and better than we did in 2005. I want them to go on and win the tournament for us. If they do, it will be glory to Nigeria and we must understand that whenever a national team wins, it is for the country. Sl10: So can you give us the names of the players you’re eyeing from the U20 as Awoniyi seems a sure bet? Siasia: I will tell you after the (U20) World Cup (laughs) Sl10: So you’re facing either Ghana or Congo Brazaville in the final round of qualifiers for the U23 championship. Any of them could prove very difficult for your team don’t you think? Siasia: Yes because both countries have very good youth systems and they produce good players at this level. But we can’t be thinking about them now, we have to think about ourselves first and get ourselves ready to face any of them. We noticed some defects in our team during the All Africa Games qualifiers and these are the things we must work on before the U23 championship qualifiers. Sl10: The U23 championship leads to the Olympic Games. Seeing that Nigeria failed to qualify the last time, does this put you under pressure? Siasia: First I have to say it’s not easy coaching a Nigerian national team because the fans expect so much so that alone puts some pressure irrespective of the team you’re handling. But as a task on its own, I don’t think it puts any pressure on me because this is what we signed up for and this is what we want to do so it will come and we will take care of it. Sl10: Thank you so much for your time coach Siasia: Thanks a lot. |

Guest Blog: Flying Eagles Of 2005 And 2015 - Deja Vu? https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/209229/7/default.jpg You can’t help but notice and hear the whispers and the roars of almost every football fan in Nigeria about any particular raging issue. It applies in the affirmative and in the cynical. When there seems to be any unpalatable development in Nigeria, you definitely will hear the whispers and cries of the fans/people and the same applies when the proficient happens. People hardly keep quiet about anything which in itself isn’t exactly a bad thing. The trending topic in Nigerian football at the moment (I should say since last year) – with the exception of Stephen Keshi of course – has to be Manu Garba’s Flying Eagles. The team has been so good that I’m sure they will record a fuller house than the Super Eagles if both teams play similar opposition on the same day! That’s how good and loved this team is. I am yet to hear anybody say anything to the contrary. But beneath all the excitements that trails the current Flying Eagles team, it sort of feels like a Déjà vu. Take your minds back ten years ago – May 2005. The Flying Eagles had also won the Africa Youth Championship in Benin Republic with Samson Siasia as coach. He instantly became the most loved person in Nigerian football. His team, despite winning the AYC in Benin Republic (West Africa), was also missing key names like Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke (as he was known then), and John Obi Mikel. Leading up to the World Cup in Holland that year, Mikel (attacking midfielder) was arguably the team’s biggest name and he would go on to later sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world, Chelsea (England). The team played some fast attacking football which endeared them to Nigerians. They were in group F and had Brazil, South Korea (Asia) and Switzerland (Europe) as group opponents. They played a 0-0 draw with Brazil in their first game but went on to top the group with 7 points. Fast forward to 2015. The team has also won the Africa Youth Championship this time in Senegal (Also West Africa), and Manu Garba is the most loved man in Nigerian football at the moment, but they were also missing key names like Kelechi Iheanacho (like Mikel) and Isaac Success (like Obasi-Ogbuke). And leading up to this year’s World Cup, Iheanacho (attacking midfielder) is arguably the team’s biggest name and he has already signed with one of the biggest clubs in the world, Manchester City, (England). This team also plays fast attacking football which has endeared them to Nigerians. They are in Group E this time, and have Brazil (again), North Korea (Asia) and Hungary (Europe) as group opponents and they play Brazil in their first game, just like in 2005. But as at this moment, that is where the similarities end, maybe until after the World Cup in New Zealand. The questions now: Will Nigeria also play a 0-0 draw against Brazil in their opening fixture? (I want a win). Will Nigeria finish top of the group with 7 points? (Wouldn’t be bad but I’d prefer 9 points) Would Iheanacho (like Mikel in 2005) turn out to be Nigeria’s best player? (Wouldn’t be surprised) Would Musa Muhammed (like Taiye Taiwo in 2005) turn out to be Nigeria’s second best player? (Wouldn’t be surprised) Would Joshua Enaholo (Edo State) turn out to be as good as Ambrose Vanzekin (Also Edo State) was for Nigeria in 2005? (Won’t be bad but I hope he’s better) And finally, would Nigeria also finish as runners-up to Argentina just like in 2005? (God forbid. I prefer they win) |
