There are many countries in the world with about half of the country living in poverty. There are also many countries with amazing standard of living. Some of the developed countries dont even have as much natural resources as some of the poor ones. A country like New Zealand is developed with good standard of living and Agriculture is their economic main stay while Papua New Guinea with comparable population and size is still receiving foreign aid and has low standard of living. My question is what do you think causes this poverty and inequalities.

Bad leadership is the cause of Poverty «though some religous folks will argue the fact that poverty is Spiritual».
Take Nigeria as a case study, we have all it takes to be among the wealthiest Nations in the world today, but you can see what bad leadership is doing to us. So my dear poverty in this sense is man-made.

Poverty is just an excuse for mental laziness. We all came into this world naked... until some people decided to optimise and utilise their mental capacity (by hook or by crook).

I used to think it was man-made but after seeing the yoruba people, I now believe it's more psychological and biological than meet the eyes. Poverty is due to laziness and overdependency on others, rather than your self.
Government also plays a role but overcoming bad leadership is doable if you have the "can" attitude but if your attitude is typical of that of a lazy man then no doubt, bad leadership can highly contribute to your poverty level.
