The truth is that greed and get rich syndrome has become the bane of today. These bankers know what their pay package was from the onset and they did not complain about it, then why steal to make up.
Dont speak out of ignorance. If I accept an offer of say 50k in 2009 &was satisfied then cos cost of living was low and in 2015 it remain 50k, no raise, y will i be satisfied. Is cost of living constant? meanwhile my responsibilty has also shoot up, probably i,m now married.
Lets show understanding abeg....emphathy if u like*

Too much English
The summary is pay and treat ur Staff well and save cost from Fraud.

How can a Bank pay A graduate that paid huge fees in school 30k and still expect Loyalty?

Kowema, I could help but permit me to quote you.

It's not about how much you are being paid. It's about positive impact, honesty and integrity. Honesty will take you far, but stealing willHow far can your dishonesty takes you? How much damaged has your dishonesty done? If you know your worth, you have value propositions, you won't settle for less. The truth is most Nigerians do not want to add value but they want to enjoy values through shortcuts. Our young people nowadays prefer to play bet190 instead of offering solutions to myriads of problems that plague mankind. That's value.

I strongly believe, a thief will always be a thief even if you give him the world money.

The first solution is sumptuous salary as stipulated by Basel 2 bankers committee.

As far I am concerned a fraud triangle is Motivation+Opportunity+Rationalisation.

This particular reason he cited falls under rationalisation (they don't pay me well): which I think is not enough reason. It's all about intergrity, bank managers earning over half a million still commit fraud, where then is the rationalisation? .

In the longrun, there is no excuse. If you feel you are not well payed. Take a walk...

There's what we call "prison visitation" before a prospective banker resumes duty..you would see former banker who are prison, serving as deterrent to others..

So after this horrible visitation, u still went ahead to defraud d bank..BRO dem dey follow u 4rm villa.

contract job is the order of the day.....20k sal,60k...no carrer path.these people are exposed to Millions or can sell material information.
Bank should change their salary structure accross cadre.

however, this is not a reason for stealling.......

PefHouse:
These are the same staff we should trust with our BVN where your financial and personal information can be accessed across all banks by one fraudulent staff in a bank with security lapses.

- Imagine a fraudulent staff in bank A knowing what your financial status is accross all your accounts in banks B &C, along with your address, phone , next of kin, place of employment, business etc. With multiple ills in a society where kidnap for ransom and armed robbery is the order of the day.

This is very alarming and until the fundamental issues of integrity among bank staff is address, the BVN thing just exposes customers to greater risk of internally orcestrated fraud

Bank Staff welfare is another matter, 95% of fraud is still motivated by greed.
U nailed it bro, this is really not safe I tell you. I remembered when a friend told me that some bankers give kidnappers information on the amount a victim have. so when the kidnappers make demand you can't deny having such amount . plus a lot of other ills from some of these criminal bankers. its well

Moral aberration is endemic and corruption is like an award winning brand in Nigeria. Wealth is our religion, and the majority sees nothing wrong in ill gotten wealth. Our supposed Role Models and leaders are the architects of corruption, how then will the proteges abhor such.

No system in place will checkmate corruption the way we yearn for. Corrupt minds beget corrupt systems.

Not until we changed our orientation for good and undo our mindsets of evil for patriotic zeal, we will continue to wallow in corruption and poverty.
i'm an optimistic person but I doubt when the current ills 'all stop. With this mentality of everyone covering their brother/sister and nepotism, tell me how it'll stop?

I like how you started it, but you ended up rather pessimistic. Nothing thrives forever, even the strongest dynasty falls with time. I believe, a time for change in Nigeria will soon come (am not talking about political party type change). I mean real change. It will take a very dramatic tone. The world will come to reconcile with us. Strive to be the best you can be bro

Have you tried calculating the amount they always sent to you as ATM card maintenance against the previous balance and the end of month statement sent to you?

I am certain 85% of Nigerians don't. Even when you get sms alert of a deduction of 5 Naira from your account, you don't ask or even border to know why...

My brother I tell you That's where the real fraud is.

Imagine 5 Naira deduction from about 4000 customers every month. Do you know how much they rake in?

Bros, those things you take as insignificant, means a lot to the bank. So the fraud is a management thing. Even the auditors are so aware of it as the Bank tag is as "LAPSE" or "Miscellenous Income".
