Pets?.. hmmm...growing up I always had a dog and a cat. I don't know if to say they were pets because although I loved the dog...always considered it as an animal...and never get all emotionally attached like so many people did. When they died I felt sad yes but wasn't like bent out of shape crying and not eating and all that...dug a hole stuff him in...covered it and the search was on for a replacement. I dont kiss animals nor allow them to lick me....and dog never allowed indoors.Pet or no pet he dare not jump in my bed or am sure he will be the meat in restaurant soup.Pets...animals all the time...I never for a moment compare them to a human.

cigar icon: I prefere cats for their gentle and neat nature. used to have one which i think lost its way into our house then,well i didn't know how. i took care of it against my father's wish and it gave birth to 3 lovely kittens. one was white another was grey and the last was brown with golden stripes. well my dad hated animals and threatened to kill them if they anoy him (by messing the compound with dungs) but these are clean animals, they never deaficate in the compound cos it was cemented, they do it out of the compound and covered it with sand. well i came back from school one day and found my cats no more, what happened? And i was told my my dad had discarded them. i cried that day. Their names werd fross-their mother, sash-the grey one ,muskey-the white one and nike-the golden striped one

when a dog is well-trained, barking and attacking is the last line of defence. when you own a well-trained dog, your task is little or nothing. you can't take it out for a walk and when it sees other dogs, there's no chasing around or barkings. they sniff each other for a while and they walk away. no snarling, no tugging, no fights!

I love my dog. He is old now. I've had him since I was 7. As long as they are trained well Im fine. Not a big cat fan probably wont own any.

Well no dog is ever well trained. Who can guarantee that a dog is well trained and shall not attack unless abused or whatever? When dogs attack it's people like you who say the victim must have done the dog wrong.A dog is a common animal and you can't tell what may trigger a dog to put aside all the training and attack.That's why I'm happy that in some states you are desponsible for your dog's actions...if your dog kills someone then you would be facing murder charges.

I love dogs. They are very sensitive and always faithful.

dasparrow: I love pets. I love pets more than I love most human beings. After all, even the bible says that "the heart of man (human beings) is desperately wicked. Who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9). You don't see the bible warning us about animals being wicked. So tell me why I would not be fond of them. Pets - especially dogs - have a good heart, they will love you unconditionally unlike many human beings who will love you when the times are good and abscond when times get rough. Dogs are always happy to see their owners and most are very intelligent. They are also very loyal to you even in death. I don't have a dog right now but I will have one soon God willing. In the mean time, I will take good care of my younger sibling's dog each time I visit my sibling.

So Filiks, keep taking good care of the dogs or any other pets you might have. My bible says that " a righteous man takes care of the needs of his animals" (Proverbs 12:10). So continue taking proper care of pets and the good Lord will not fail to bless you abundantly. Besides, dogs are a very good distressing tool. If more Nigerians will keep dogs INSIDE the home and take proper care of them, many Nigerians will not be suffering from high blood pressure or heart problems. Dogs can help you live a long life along with a proper diet, adequate exercise and prayer.

By the way, your dogs are very cute. If you know any reputable Lhasa Apso breeder in Nigeria or someone who imports pure bred Lhasa Apsos from Europe or South Africa, kindly let me know. Thanks.

I love dogs a whole lot.Apart frm friendship,they've provided me and my family priceless security.After armed robbers almost turned our home 2 something else,sometimes much as 3 times in a month,i took d advice of a friend and got an Alsatian puppy for 25k.The entire neighbourhood fear even touching my gate.I've also acquired a Bull Mastiff and And a Rott...very aggressive bunch.I tell u its worth every penny ......

I LOVE dogs but hate(can't stand) cats (probably because of how they were portrayed in Nigeria films - evil), you also need to see their eyes at night - scary.
What about pigs as pets. ... that would be would be interesting
