Obasanjo was Nigeria's leader for 8 years, today he is the chief navigator of Apc. Atiku Abubakar was Vice President, today Penciled down as Bot chairman of Apc. Rotini Amaechi, financier, Mallam El Rufai, Aminu bello Masari, Etc are they not the same people that were in the old PDP? Talk of talking from both sides of the mouth. Hypocrites

PDP doesn't need a merger. She needs to call up her U23 (APGA) and U17 (LP) sensations to the senior team!!

The acronym PDP is already "casted" as Nigerians would say in colloquial terms.

Whatever it is, I don't see PDP rising from this defeat as PDP. A merger and a change of name is the only hope they have of reincarnation.

PDP is purely initials and not an acronym.Go back to school.

They should also learn how to establish world class government policies
Re: We’re Open To Merger, Says PDP by tevinsolt: 6:43am On May 18, 2015
while I don't like PDP, why would they want to merge? If it does happen, mostly likely not, it'll only revert us back to what we've had for the past 16 years....PDP with all the criminals calling the shots!.
Re: We’re Open To Merger, Says PDP by blackpanda: 6:45am On May 18, 2015
I think these guys just refuse to learn and keep living in denial. Pdp is dead and gone! Nothing can bring it back from the grave.

Apc didnt destroy pdp. Pdp destroyed itself through greed, impunity and lack of discipline. Olisa Metuh should stop deceiving himself. Its time to move on. Pdp doesnt even have the values to function as a good opposition. All they will spew is bitterness and more impunity. And people easily see through that, just like in the elections!

The largest political party looking at the option of a merger? The defeat was brutal Infact fatality
Re: We’re Open To Merger, Says PDP by DaBullIT(m): 6:55am On May 18, 2015
I understand but where is barcanista and Co, let them come and defend the apology and the planned merger?

Few days after the elections, I said pdp will have to change their name, power and people will have to be removed, they can retain democracy D, I was insulted, people said lai lai it's impossible,

Its glaring now isn't it?

Another military officer said Nigerians will regret voting Gmb, I said his ranting was a threat, a new group will be formed to threaten Buhari's governance and he should be arrested

Just after that a new group was busted in Jos

My point? PDP the largest party in Africa as claimed by them is running aground, PDP has to change name and restrategize or else, another party will be the opposition grin

Re: We’re Open To Merger, Says PDP by jmaine: 6:58am On May 18, 2015
The name PDP should never be changed . . .They can merge with other interested parties but the name should remain the same to signify strength and stability against all odds.

I agree completely with Metuh here . . . . .

And a fool rushes to declare his status to the world.
An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial components in a phrase or a word. Usually, these components are individual letters (as in NATO or laser) or parts of words or names (as in Benelux)

Whereas an abbreviation may be any type of
shortened form, such as words with the middle
omitted (for example, Rd for road or Dr for
Doctor), an acronym is a word formed from the first letter or first few letters of each word in a phrase (such as sonar, created from sound
navigation and ranging).
Now, drag your pops, take him back to the school in which you were enrolled, and demand a refund of all the fees you paid.

Now that the original party members that made up the so 'dreadful' PDP are now the leaders in Apc ( Obasanjo, Atiku, Amaechi, Masari, Tanbuwal, Syllva, Tinubu etc) it's time to rebuild the new PDP. No need to change any name, just go into mergers with a clear cut vision to really rescue Nigeria and be the real change from the cabals that have held us down and who unfortunately, will continue in power under the guise of change mantra and the Apc. God please save us.

Not only that, they have to accept the real reason we dumped them - GROSS CORRUPTION

Majority of us who canvassed and voted for the APC, did it out of disappointment due to the untold hardship that PDP's corruption had brought upon hardworking Nigerian families.

But right now they are not accepting it, so it will make it difficult still, for any sane Nigerian to listen to them even after changing their name because its still the same old wine in a new bottle

Can you please expatiate on the difference between this and the fundamental make-up of the APC?

Aren't almost all APC members former PDP members who decamped? Not as a matter of "principle," but a matter of having better political chances.

Practically every prominent APC member has been in power at varying capacities. Practically every one of them has made promises in the past, and delivered nothing short of looted treasuries of their jurisdictions. Now, they return with a new mask - talking about change.

Nigerians need to wake up to the fact that party alliance is just a smoke screen to hide behind. Hold these thieves individually accountable.

Looks like brand managers are about to recieve an instruction. Branding and re branding are tools used in positioning techniques. APC has taken a chunk of the political market. I'm waiting to see PDP'S responce. Will they be bullish and wanna pull through on same image or redesign it to capture a segment of that market they lost out on. Will they study the demographics of people that voted massively against them and find a way to win them back. Will they redefine their value offering in terms of quality of delivery in leadership. Interesting times. I'm sitting back to watch and learn.

Who cares about all that? Where is the 'Buhari' in PDP?

All these people you mention are even the more benign elements that came from PDP to APC. PDP still contains the likes of Olisah Metuh that was happy to divide Nigeria on religious grounds just because of desperation to retain power. It's still a haven of ex-militants, repatriated crooks and greedy oil cabals.

This bitter whining is not how to do opposition o.

Really?

You obviously do not live in this country.

No hardship? We are broke right now because somehow PDP forgot to take us off oil...and still left us vulnerable to drops in international oil price.Like what is happening right now.

No hardship? People are sleeping on queues because your friends in PDP forgot to repair our refineries....

No hardship? With badly funded universities? (And if you think that N200bn per annum is enough...you got to be kidding me).

No hardship? With Boko haram and kidnapping?

No hardship? With poorly functioning hospitals?

And before you start....I am watching APC too. If they mess up....

I'm not a PDP fan either but it is ironic that when PDP was producing Yoruba and Hausa presidents in the form of Obasunjo and Yaradua, nobody remembered gross corruption that was prevalent then. Nobody remembered Sai Buhari! But as a non Yoruba/Hausa man got in, everybody remembered the hangmans noose and turned GEJ into the their beautifuly made up scapegoat. I'm not saying GEJ was the best president but he was not the worse either. He got shafted more than others because he is from a minority. I challenge any Yoruba man to refute the fact that if GEJ had been a Yoruba man,APC would never have been formed. We were all living witness to how Yorubas supported OBJ for a second term despite the gross corruption. Let's be honest, if you are from a minority in Nigeria, you're gonna get shafted big time.
