Comparing Uyo and Lagos state is very wrong and idiotic in nature.

Is just like comparing Lagos and New York.

AkwaIbom state not only Uyo is still learning... Lagos has gone far!

Though, Uyo is developing tremendously, but its uncomparable. I have gone to Lagos and I served in Uyo! Just passed out 2015 Feb!

do not mind products of awolowo's half-baked free education. Lagos city initially consisted of only mainland lagos and the islands ie apapa, lagos, ikoyi and Victoria. Ikeja, the capital of Lagos state was a sleepy town 32 km from lagos. Forget the metropolitan city of lagos which has made lagos look like a megacity. Lagos state till tomorrow is far different different from lagos city. Rural areas like epe, badagry are still still part of lagos state but not lagos city. Just like cities like ikot ekpene are not part of uyo

Re: Uyo And Lagos Compare And Contrast by tinkinjow: 8:53pm On May 18, 2015
When those who "claim relationship" with Lagos talk of development one is always left to wonder what they really mean. To these group development is synonymous with some few ten storey buildings sprinkled here and there around the city.

Of course it is easy to agree Uyo stand alone in Akwa Ibom Whereas Lagos is taken wholly as a state - though no one will tell you about Epe or Badagry in that regard.
To these group I ll always boldly say it to your face. Lagos as far as I'm concern is a byword for filth and chaos. The only possible places there that can escape this description are the Law School - Lekki toll gate stretch and Osborne Ikoyi stretch. In all these you dare not enter the side streets for you'll be stung with the eyesore that's the Lagos signature.
Is it the Ajah/ilaje areas, wilmer/ajegunle, aggege/iyana ipaja. Even places like fectac, marina name them are all decayed. The so called banana island apart from the beautiful structures is what it's called, a banana plantation.

Lagos praisers should well be informed that Akwa Ibom has what Lagos has and even more - that sought after serene environment with greens ( I meean nature) - that signposts a modern city.

When people (except perhaps we that have not seen high rises) travel the world for tourism it is these nature or culture they seek to enjoy not structures except where that is culturally connected.
When you go to Calabar it is the ambience you seek
When you go to the Caribbean it is not for structures or skyscrapers
It always about nature, culture and the ease of life. Akwa Ibom - Uyo have these in abundance to Lagos.

Which is development:
The bumpy Lagos roads or the smooth Akwa Ibom ones
The stressful traffic in Lagos or the free flow in Akwa ibom
The dirty looking public school students or the neat Akwa Ibom students
The congested noisy neighbourhoods of Lagos or calm soothing residences of Akwa ibom
The terribly smelly and equally detestable bukas in Lagos or the healthy and delicious delicacies in Akwa ibom
The stench that emanates from the Lagos Lagoon or the clean streams, rivers and beach of Akwa Ibom.
etc etc etc etc etc
Akwa Ibom might not provide you with the same economic opportunities as Lagos, but please if you have your money and you're asked where to live, please don't hesitate, choose Akwa Ibom and live happily ever after.

There's much more to development than filth and commotion

Lol. Hogwash. Uyo is an emerging city with lots of potential, provided its current level of development is sustained. But in truth, as it stands its tantamount to an insult to compare Akwa Ibom to Lagos state especially in terms of development, be it infrastructure or investments. I think a better comparison would be between AkwaIbom and Cross rivers as both states share a lot more in common.

Personally I"ll pick Calabar over Uyo any day. Besides the tourism factor/value, what else is there to do in either Calabar or AKwaIbom? No jobs (not unless maybe i want to become a fisherman or something),No industries. I'll get bored pretty fast in a place like that. It's the same reason why even the popular Caribbean island destinations are only ideal for holidaying and quickly become depopulated after their peak season's over -- after a few weeks even the fun-seekers begin to miss the liveliness of a more robust city life -- the type that a place like Lag offers.

This no be bad-belle, na the koko.

If you imply all these in the "Nigerian sense" I'll agree after all the so called Nigerian sense is actually Lagos'. You're only smarter and sharper in the negatives; you're certainly not cooler or sexier that's a fact - except by sexier you mean dressing scantily or seductively; and you can never be more bix savvy, what you have is better opportunities. Given the same opportunities the Local Akwa Ibom will outperform you - truth is the born Lagosian hardly ever makes it. It's always those who come to Lagos from the villages that achieve most. That's another fact.

There is no geographical location in Lagos State called Lagos. As there is no place in Kano State called Kano. Ditto for Kaduna. These are the names of the state.
I should think you meant to refer to Lagos Island/Eko.
