The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) have directed employees of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), to shut down indefinitely their locations and all oil production facilities nationwide. The action is meant to force the federal government to reverse the transfer of operatorship of OMLs 42, 40 and 30 previously operated by Shell. The minister of petroleum resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has already approved the deal. The directive to shut down the facilities was issued yesterday by the executive councils of the PENGASSAN and NUPENG. The unions, it was gathered, directed that the shut down of facilities takes effect from tomorrow, May 20, 2015. They accused the federal government of carrying out the sale in secrecy, alleging that the transaction did not follow due process. The unions also wondered the fate of NPDC and its workers when new owners take over. |

I won't be surprised if they need the aborted fetuses for experiments and cosmetics and that's why they are suggesting and funding this. Better to give them out for adoption than to terminate the pregnancy. These babies are innocent and didn't ask for any of this. |

Pregnancy is not a funny journey. I am currently pregnant and loving it because I'm expectant of the beautiful life I'm having from a beautiful union... Imagine going through 3 months of morning sickness and 6 months of pushing for a BH baby... hummnnn. I think life is sacred o, but this is a tough call. Abortion depends on timing. Anything about 2 months... Don't try it, it's risky for the mother. After 3 months, it's no longer just abortion, it's plain murder because you have to kill the foetus and then induce labor. It's such a dicy situation. I feel so sorry for those babies. |

nairalandist:I agree with you totally. I go with UN too. Those children are children of rape, their existence will haunt their mothers. If I'm among those women raped, i'll abort my baby. I can't live with a constant reminder of a gruesome experience. |
