Secondly, every society is or should be planned with figures and population spread. Nigeria, despite her bogus population figures also does that and that is why some states receive more money than others. thanks for the reply.About population i can support that cos its means that we are equal(i.e man to man) which means when the allocation is broken down the same amount of money allocated to a man in kano is the same as the man in Bayelsa.
About bearing the environmental brunt,i have the following to say;
i) i could remember last year or two,an NGO help the host communities to a well known court judgement awarding them millions in dollar(not naira) as compensation for the environmental degradation caused by the oil companies activities.what is the reason for federal govt. allocation monthly?
ii) there is a federal govt ministry(niger delta ministry) set up by the federal govt. of Nigeria and sponsored from the federal account specially for this region.why the extra federal allocation monthly?
There is a saying that "he who comes to equity must come with clean hands"(hope i got it right),so before we could ask for "ONE NIGERIA" i think each region should first look inward and abolish that advantage(s) it enjoy over others,then ask other to follow suit.


Enough said,i think Nigeria still as a long way to go in its quest for "ONE NIGERIA" maybe two to three generation from now if we don't succeed in poisoning their mind.

what I want the incoming govt headed by Buhari to do, is to make sure that all public office holders (both appointee and elected ) should make sure that, their children/ward attend public schools right from primary to tertiary level, that way, I will see how public schools will go on strike again.

That is just one publicised case, drawn out after a long period of time. How abt those that never work out? what happens to their communities? That part of d country is responsible for d development of others despite mismanagement and corruption at all levels. That supposed advantage cannot morally n even legally be begrudged them because they are already severely disadvantaged. Their sources of livelihood are destroyed and no actual remedial action takes place. You can't keep taking from them without giving something back.

If Atiku is talking about improvement of standards rather than reduction of marks which I completely agree with, then 2 things are involved: 1) He should walk d talk by ensuring, with his influence and capacity as a 'statesman', that the blueprint for said improvement is made n carried out and
2)The improvement should be seen to be done by increasing cut off marks for admission into unity schools for all States so that they are equal. Not where the Anambra child has to score 132 and the Zamfara or Yobe child needs a score less than 10!

The purpose of the government funded unity schools is to bring very young ethnically diverse Nigerians together in a learning environment, with a view to achieve cultural exchange and imbibe tolerance within the formative years.

The Unity School was never designed as a school for the gifted or spectacularly brilliant. It is to foster unity while receiving subsidized education by a federal government. Unlike NYSC, it is not mandatory and alternative merit based education abound.

Let the government continue in its attempt to cultivate unity, using a quota system that ensures national representation. Whatever score Anambra is pegged to fill up its own quota, is no business of Zamfara. Each has been duly allotted admission slots, there is no injustice to correct.

In the case of source of livelihood been destroyed,i think the federal govt. should relocate those affected or provide another means for them(which i strongly condemn as the area is even not fit for habitation in my opinion) and not monthly allocation that does little or no change to this areas but increases the level of corruption in those states(my opinion).

I know u are entitle 2 ur opinion but such a bias and narrow view surprised me. D man who made d request and d Atiku that replied, as u can see are 4rm d same region. So if u rebuke d guy 4 his request it could have been reasonable 2 praise d Atiku's response that uphold excellence.

No insult intended, but "most students" who go to private universities are those who have tried gaining admission into govt schools over the years but failed repeatedly. If your dad is rich, all one needs is to do pass O'level and get admitted into private universities immediately.
