No body lives in QIT. let me school u since u still insist.
QIT(QUA IBOE TERMINAL) is the operation base of exxon mobil in ibeno, just about 12km from eket.
Qua iboe terminal is where all job functions are executed, no one lives there bro. How will people live in qit for goodness sake.
I was expecting u to mention mobil housing along marina road which is their resting base. D place is meant for expatriates but no expatriates lives there except some pick through way contract staffs.
Mobil make do with hotels for their expatriates and senior staffs. Dont know if I've answered u boss.

since the outgoing government has invested heavily in infrastructure. It suffices to say at this juncture that the incoming government should look into creating an enabling atmosphere where human capital development and supporting of sme's will thrive

Beko are already moving into Uyo.

http://www.punchng.com/business/industry/turkish-household-appliance-maker-builds-factory-in-uyo/

Others are set to follow.

There will be industries that spring up around these larger factories.

This is what the role of 'government' should be, not to dole out money to people or send them on pilgrimages. Build enabling infrastructure and business will follow.

Truth be told, our leaders are massively shortsighted in governance, and i am sure that only a chronic village person whose brain has suffered severe setback or those who are narrow minded would praise this project, in a country like nigeria, we only judge politicians based on capital projects, how could a governor waste so much money in building hotel when the people are living below per capita income but we nigerians just like celebrating mediocre. Of what economic importance is that hotel to the people of the state, how will it suck up unemployment in the state, can it contain up to 2000 people in terms of employment, for how long can it attract foreign ivestor,

It is a terminal no doubt but nothing stops it from having a section of this vast area for residential purposes. QIT was a place i constantly went to years 07 and 08 and i know such exist pretty well. That it is an oil terminal doesnt mean an area cant be segmented for accomodation even within the vast complex.

I was expecting u to mention mobil housing along marina road which is their resting base. D place is meant for expatriates but no expatriates lives there except some pick through way contract staffs.

Now this sounds new to me. However it suggests to me that indeed they do have an housing estate.

Let me succumb at this juncture believing this that u are probably more on ground currently than i am (hopefully) however are u sure they are Mobil direct staffs or staffs of contractors working for mobil?

The Governor of Akwa Ibom state should pursue empowerment programs, boost human development through grants and scholarships, support SMEs in the state and create environment that is attractive to business. Human development is key to societal growth rather than frivolties like hotels, stadium, and stuffs.
Barcanister I read and many times enjoy your comments but how could you say it is a frivolous projects. We all know a conducive environment includes good roads, better housing, security, hospitals, beautiful environment etc which this man has put in place. He gave the people free and compulsory education, its is left for them to grab the opportunity. For grants, we all know Nigerians, people we seize the opportunity and bring thier loved ones even when they are not qualified to benefit thereby breeding corruption the more. For the project in question, the first four points hotel was not built in Akwaibom or are we saying it was the governor or the governor of Lagos that owns the hotel in Lagos? He was able to attract foreign investors and because they believe the state has a future they came, so lets applaud him. What the new government should do is to make friendly policy that will make SME and industries spring up, build markets because business will make more people and banks move to the state and more revenue wil be realized. A comment of yours say the stadium is not need, my brother, it is. We all know tourism and sports is the next and clean source of income coupled with the fact that Akwaibomites have been cleaners and drivers, thier experience will be taken to an all new better level. So he is on track, what the people need do,is encourage the incoming governor to improve on his successes. For a country or state to thrive, it need infrastructures. And if we can be honest, this man has not failed in that regard even if he wasn't 100%. Let the people of the state Judge thier own.

Cattle rearers and ndi ofe mmanu will be here saying rub.bish, calling it white elephant projects. You have some questions to answer.
1. All the hotels in las vegas occupies by its residents?
2. What was the appearance of abuja before it was turned the seat of govt, and now? Are the hotels and mansions owned by abuja indigenes?
2. Do you expect an international businessman to lodge in lagos and do a business in akwa ibom?
4. How many low-class lagosians lodge in Sheraton lagos annually?
I wish akwa ibom builds an international airport soon. Let's allow lagos and abuja airports to rest. For your info, i'm from the east. But i love what he has turned his state into.

Kudos to Akpabio! I still know some chefs that earn far more than the so-called bankers in the country. Your people don't need to travel far to showcase their skills cooking for the rich in their houses in Abuja and Lagos.

Shut up and don't rant about what you don't know. Akpabio is giving out scholarships... He gave me scholarships of worth N400,000 as a medical student then... and he is still doing same.
Now tell me what your government has done and stop advising the best governor in Nigeria.

Akpabio didn't tell them he brought a first class minting and printing company (PAPI) approved by CBN to akwa-Ibom to print Naira notes , Nigerian passport , Bank cheque books , ATM cards and other security documents. This facility supercedes the so called Nigerian minting and company. Those that say he did nothing to save the unemployment situation in his state , are these facilities going to be run by man or a robot?

I don't intend to exchange any words with u and I won't even answer should you swerve in that direction but let me suggest something:

Kindly check the structure called Burj Al Arab and Google how much it generates for the city of Dubai. Its not a church or a school.....just check it out.
Thanks

use ur brain....government is not an efficient employer of factors of production....it is best left in private hands......you never hear of any western government owning hotels etc.......that was back in the communist days.... angry.....people like u are ignorant on basics of societal development.......four points by Sheraton is nothing like burj Al Arab which is unique..... angry.......I have stayed there before for your information.....and wish to tell u grin.....it is surrounded by huge and modern shopping centres and has the dancing fountain surrounding by its side...... angry...all these ignorant old men here..... grin

My sentiment exactly. I'm yet to see a thread that will boost human development in Akwa Ibom state. Good governance goes beyond beautification of capital city and hotels. The hotel looks good but to me I consider it misplaced priority just like the stadium.
point of correction. that hotel is not in the capital which is uyo but in ikot ekpene.

rozayx5 d hotel is good, but does Akwa ibom hv d market for such?
wud d ppl of Akwa ibom hv d money to lodge for a room der?
Dz are d questions u need to ask.

wHY CANT Ibom people afford it? In anyways, since its in Ikot Ekpene, it is very close to Aba, so it can attract market from there and around. Moreover, since Enyimba of Aba is always in international competitions, visiting teams can patronize them since its close to Aba and the governor has done the road, even if a its a federal road. Individuals and groups can find it useful for vacations, including Mobil, Eket local and expat workers and other oil servicing firms employees.

Major local and international events, who are looking for prestigious address can find them useful. Reputable events centres will always be attract markets, especially in the Southsouth/Southeast. Its also creates jobs directly and indirectly for the people.

Moreover, it puts IK positive in the national and international consciousness.

Even though it was funded by the govt, i am glad that Sheraton (private sector) would be managing it and off course making remittances to the govt as agreed.

Kudos are in order, my dear.
