Brazil beware! Iheanacho on fire https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2015/05/Samm_29_May_2.jpg Manchester City starlet Kelechi Iheanacho gave by far the most serious warning to Brazil ahead of an U20 World Cup showdown on Monday after he fired a hat-trick in Thursday’s training. Iheanacho, playing behind strikers Taiwo Awoniyi and Isaac Success, opened scoring for what looked like the starting XI for Monday’s showdown against Brazil with a superb, left-footed, half-volleyed goal from the top of the box. “It was pure magic!” saluted NFF executive committee member Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’, who watched the training. “What a goal! Iheanacho is something special,” praised Fernando Zurro, who came down to do special interviews with the team for FIFA TV. Flying Eagles to outshine Brazil The 18-year-old forward will go on to fire two more goals past Olorunleke Ojo. Isaac Success grabbed a brace as he displayed his all-action style, while Taiwo Awoniyi completed the routing. Chidera Eze got a consolation goal for the second team in a game that finished 6-1 in favour of what looks like the team who will start on Monday afternoon in New Plymouth. |

Success And Iheanacho To Start Upfront Together? https://level3.soccerladuma.net/cms2/image_manager/uploads/News/210867/7/1432903541_34def.jpg The fine form of Isacc Success and Kelechi Iheanacho is currently threatening Coach Manu Garba's preferred starting line-up against Brazil. Manu Garba has said so many times about knowing which players will start for Nigeria in their opening game but that claim appears not to be the same anymore. Granada's Isaac Success had a rare start upfront in his first training session with the team and pairing Awoniyi in attack they dovetailed nicely with both forwards scoring three goals between them. On his part, Manchester City Kelechi Iheanacho’s fine form for his team before joining his colleagues might see him edge out Kingsley Sokari for the role of the man behind the strikers. Iheanacho played in the role in same training sessions but unlike Sokari who appears contented with setting up goals, the Man City wonderkid scored a hat-trick, much to the delight of the coaches. In two training sessions, he has now scored 5 goals and that form might force the coaches to drop Sokari in his favour ahead of the Brazil game. The dilemma sits nicely with the coaches as it proves they have the best legs in camp. Even Musa Yahaya is struggling to nail a spot down the left as in form Saviour Godwin is pushing the Tottenham Hotspurs teen star for same role. |

Flying Eagles get a feel of match venue pitch https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2015/05/Samm_12_May_3.jpg The Flying Eagles will finally have a first feel of the Stadium Taranaki pitch Saturday afternoon ahead of their much-anticipated showdown with Brazil. The Nigeria U20s will train at the 11,000-capacity stadium from 1pm local time, which will be 2am Saturday in Nigeria. The Group E showdown between the Flying Eagles and Brazil will also kick off at that time on Monday. Top officials disclosed that already 6,000 tickets have been snapped up for this clash with hopes that more tickets will be sold before the big kick-off as “New Zealanders are known to take their time in making purchases”. Flying Eagles, Brazil celebrate Queen's birthday Hundreds of school children also watched the team train and later got autographs from the African champions. Thursday was a most eventful day for the Flying Eagles as they were officially welcomed by FIFA and both players and officials did their accreditation for the World Cup. Celebrity English referee Howard Webb took the team through some basic dos and don’ts on the pitch and later posed for photos with them. The Flying Eagles were also received Maori style in the evening, along with their Group E rivals Brazil, Hungary and North Korea. Moses Simon promises goals Leader of the Nigeria delegation Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ thanked the local organising committee for the warm reception, while wishing all the teams best of luck in the competition. The Flying Eagles rendered a local song to the appreciation of onlookers, just as the other teams did. “It was similar to what we are used to back home in Nigeria, but for the kissing with the nose (honking),” said midfielder Kingsley Sokari. “It was a wonderful experience and we are now better for this,” added teammate Ifeanyi Ifeanyi. tbaba1234:Wao the rate at which stiffer competion has taken over the camp of the Super Flying Eagles is so amazing. Now am so convinced that whenever these lads cry out about no one being guaranteed of a place in the squad, they are not just sounding humble but just the reality. If some one like Sokari can be benched in that team then Hmmmmmmmmnnnn. That team is really something I can't describe. |

Welcome back Success. I still remember the success of u-17, mhen!!! dat boy was dope then, He ruled Africa in the caf u-17 championship but when he was about to show it at the big stage that frustrating injury said NO! NO!! HELL NO!!!. Now is the time to bring it on, show it and flaunt it big time. Anyone that follows the team right from their U-17 days will the type of player is was and he is. KL10 I believe you can be that Aguero player city want to see in this tournament. The goals are there already, just go on and score those 6 goals. Taiwo Awoniyi fantastic player, this guy has really developed pretty fast. Now he is a clinical finisher. Go on and make history in New Zealand. It is time to leave Nigeria academy. I am sure top clubs will be running after you after this tournament. |

Awoniyi: I Would Love To Play With Success https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2015/05/Samm_7_May_1.jpg Ahead of their first game at the FIFA U20 World Cup against Brazil, Flying Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi says he’s relishing the prospect of partnering Isaac Success in attack. The 17-year-old Awoniyi has been the standout striker since the creation of the present U20 team in the absence of Success, who despite not having made an impact with the Flying Eagles has played top flight football with Granada in the Spanish La Liga, a development which has led to debates over who should be the team’s main striker. But Awoniyi says it will be nice if both of them can partner up front for Nigeria. “I would like to play with him (Success),” he told SL10ng. “He’s not a new player to me because we’ve known each other since the U17’s and I know he’s a quality striker. “Now he plays in Spain which means he’s more experienced and mature now and that is good for us. “But it is left for our coaches to decide what they want but it will be nice to be in the attack with him.” Success was the main striker during the U17’s, but a hamstring injury meant Awoniyi took his place and has established himself as the team’s first choice striker ever since.
