U-20 World Cup: 'we Have The Quality To Do Well At The World Cup' - Clifford Aboagye. U-20 World Cup. Ghana’s U-20 diminutive midfielder, Clifford Aboagye has confidently stated that the Black Satellite has the needed quality to do well in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand starting this Saturday. Ghana is in Group B alongside, Argentina, Panama and Austria and their quest of performing well in the competition will depend on the quality of players they have in camp. But Clifford Aboagye who won the FIFA bronze ball two years ago in Turkey is confident Black Satellites will do well base on their quality. "We have the quality to go all the way,” confident Aboagye told FIFA.com. “We understand that the first target will be to get out of the group, and then we'll take it one after the other all the way." Ghana won bronze in the last edition in Turkey. “It has been two years since I won the bronze ball, and I have learned so much during that period. What I desire is for the team to do well and for me to win gold or at least silver in the category of the best player. It is a very big stage and every player dreams of playing in tournaments like this. It is not every day that you get to play at such a level and if given the chance, you grab it and hope to go a step further," he added. The Black Satellites qualified to New Zealand after placing third in the AYC championship and according to the Granada midfielder he is confident the African teams at the tournament will perform well. “The level of play at the AYC was inspiring. The African game is growing. It is always a great feeling to see other teams you know, from the same continent and with players you have engaged with before, do well. "I will be happy to see them progress in New Zealand. It would be a shame if this did not happen, because they have so many talented players. I believe they have what it takes to do well, and I am hoping they live up to my expectations for them." Ghana will open their campaign against Austria on Saturday at the Wellington Regional stadium in New Zealand. allsports.com.gh/football/u-20-world-cup-we-have-the-quality-to-do-well-at-the-world-cup-clifford-aboagye-id3808754.html

Flying Eagles ready, relaxed in Kiwi winters https://images.supersport.com/2015/5/Flying%20Eagles%20coaches.jpg The Nigerian Under-20 side, the Flying Eagles, have settled at their base in New Zealand with all the players now arrived. "Kelechi Iheanacho arrived here same day we arrived," says assistant coach, Nduka Ugbade - a participant of two editions of the Under-20 tournaments himself - speaking exclusively to supersport.com on the phone. The Nigerian under-20s have already trained twice since their arrival in New Zealand and according to Ugbade the players are relaxed and in confident mood going into their first round matches. This team are filled with players who have known a lot of success in their short careers with wins at the Fifa Under-17 World Cup and the Under-20 African Championships. However "we have had to tell them that at this World Cup it is high performances, ability to harness team ethics allied with their individual skills that will count," Ugbade said. Forward Isaac Success has also overcome passport and visa issues and has arrived and trained with his teammates. Ugbade Nigeria's first World Cup-winning captain when he led the under-16s as they were then known to win the World Cup for that age group in China in 1985. He also featured at the Chile '87 and Saudi '89 Under-20 World Cup editions. Asked how things have changed, Ugbade responded in his breezy, very friendly laughing voice: "Oh there have been a lot of changes. For instance, the training facilities we have here in our Plymouth base is fantastic. There is also a lot of media presence and interest in the tournament more than it was back then." New Zealand is nearly 11 hours ahead of GMT and they are in their winter now. "It is very cold," Ugbade says. "Since we arrived the maximum temperature we have had has been about 10 degrees celsius." Do you have appropriate kit to cater for this? "The federation and Nike have been excellent in that we have all the right gear for the weather so there is no problem in that area. Also, the the people are very friendly and so we are relaxed. New Zealand is very clean and lovely," a man who started representing Nigeria all over the world in his second year in secondary school, Ugbade says. He has been about so he knows what he is talking about. |

World's best junior footballers follow in the footsteps of the game's greatest players The under-20 edition of the world cup should provide the best football ever seen in New Zealand. While the under-17 tournament held here 16 years ago was an eye-popper for football-averse myopics, who had to grudgingly concede the kids had skill, this event is on a higher level yet. Some of the best footballers in history like Luis Suarez, Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho, Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi have graced the Fifa U-20 World Cup tournament. Few of the under-17 cohort go on to grace the game's highest portals. But many of the under-20s are already fully fledged professionals at major clubs. The Fifa under-20s festival is, traditionally, a launching pad for the game's next golden generation, the first arena where they come to global attention. The first U-20 World Cup (then known as the World Youth Championships) was held in Tunisia in 1977. The Golden Ball trophy for player of the tournament went to Vladimir Bessonov, who scored two goals as the Soviet Union beat Mexico in the final. A buck-toothed Brazilian called Ronaldinho announced his arrival in 1999 in Nigeria. Five years later, Bessonov, who had a long career for Dynamo Kiev in the Ukraine, played for the Soviets against New Zealand's All Whites at the 1982 World Cup finals. It was the first of his three visits to the game's greatest stage. But the under-20 event really came of age two years later in 1979 in Japan. An Argentinian phenom called Diego Maradona burst onto the world scene to win the Golden Ball. The mercurial Maradona won the World Cup for the Argentines in 1986 and is universally regarded as one of the three greatest players in football history, alongside compatriot Lionel Messi and Brazilian ace Pele. The top scorer in 1979 was Ramon Diaz, now the national coach of Paraguay. He netted eight goals to Maradona's six. Argentina's Diego Maradona was star of the 1979 U-20 World Cup in Japan. Reuters Brazil's 1983 team included Dunga, who captained his nation to the World Cup title in 1994 and is now in his second stint as the Selecao's head coach. Fast forward to 1997 in Malaysia. France fielded Thierry Henry and fellow forwards David Trezeguet and Nicolas Anelka in front of a defence anchored by William Gallas and Mikel Silvestre. Some of that exalted group were fast-tracked into France's senior national team that won the World Cup on home soil in 1998. Yet France failed to make the top-four at the '97 youth tournament. France's Thierry Henry played at the 1997 U-20 World Cup and a year later starred for his country in the big show. A buck-toothed Brazilian called Ronaldinho announced his arrival in 1999 in Nigeria. A few months later he was whizzing a long-range freekick past the All Whites at the 1999 Confederations Cup finals in Mexico. Also at Nigeria '99 was a fair-haired Uruguayan forward Diego Forlan. He later had an ill-starred short stay at Manchester United, but went on to win the Golden Ball player of the tournament award at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, where he upstaged countryman Luis Suarez, the current Barcelona striker with a penchant for munching opponent's ears. The Class of '99 also included goalkeeper Iker Casillas and Xavi Hernandez, from champions Spain. Casillas lifted the World Cup aloft in 2010 as Spanish captain. Xavi was also by his side that day and will soon play for Barcelona in another European Champions League final. Argentina took out the 2001 title with Javier Saviola as their star man, while Kaka and Adriano, who had graced the 1999 under-17 World Cup tournament in New Zealand, strutted their stuff for Brazil. All-up, Argentina has won six U-20 World Cup crowns. Messi was the glittering jewel in their 2005 team and Sergio Aguero, the current Manchester City striker, led the line in 2007. Uruguay could not advance beyond the second round in '07, despite boasting Suarez and Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani. That's the type of quality abounding at this event. The 2015 crop just aren't as well known. Yet. |

Sepp Blatter Re-elected as Fifa President for Tifth Term. Blatter was endorsed by 133 of the 209 voting members Blatter failed to get two-thirds majority necessary in first round Prince Ali Bin al-Hussein concedes before second round vote Despite the chaos and controversy engulfing world football’s governing body, Fifa president Sepp Blatterhas secured a fifth term in charge. The 79-year-old defeated his rival, the Jordanian Prince Ali Bin al-Hussein, to whoops and cheers from his supporters. Blatter polled 133 votes to Prince Ali’s 73, which would have been enough to take the contest to a potential second round but his 39-year-old challenger withdrew. It could yet prove a pyrrhic victory. Blatter has weathered the storm in the short term but the result leaves him presiding over a split Fifa as he faces the biggest self-inflicted crisis in its 111-year history. “For the next four years I will be in command of this boat called Fifa and we will bring it back ashore, we will bring it back to the beach,” he said, again promising to make this four year term his last. “The age is no problem. You have people that are 50 who look old.” Prince Ali will claim a moral victory but could only land a glancing blow on the incumbent, who appeared giddy after winning his fifth term as president. “I like you, I like my job and I like to be with you. I’m not perfect, nobody’s perfect,” he said. “Trust and confidence, together we go.” As investigations continue in the US into a web of bribery and corruptionthat has already led this week to seven arrests in dawn raids and charges against 14 senior executives, European football’s governing body Uefa will again loudly demand reform. Its executives meet in Berlin next weekend before the Champions League final and were in militant mood after Blatter triumphed over his younger rival, who had promised to repair Fifa’s battered reputation and serve for only one four-year term. Uefa president Michel Platini, whose 53 members mostly backed Ali, had said that it could withdraw co-operation. FA chairman Greg Dyke has said that England could boycott the World Cup if other European nations decide to do so. “This is not over by any means. To quote the [US] Attorney General this is the beginning of the process not the end,” said Dyke after the vote. “The idea Blatter could reform Fifais suspect. I’d be very surprised if Mr Blatter was still in this job in two years time.” Platini said: “I am proud that Uefa has defended and supported a movement for change at Fifa. Change which in my opinion is crucial if this organisation is to regain its credibility. I congratulate my friend Prince Ali for his admirable campaign and I take the opportunity to thank all the national associations who supported him.” Blatter had earlier vowed to fix Fifa “starting tomorrow”, telling delegates: “We don’t need revolutions we need evolutions. I’m being held accountable for the storm. OK, I will shoulder that responsibility.” Despite the spiralling crisis sparked by the US Department of Justice and Swiss prosecutors, Blatter succeeded with an appeal to the 209 member associations to give him another term. His support in Asia, Africa and pockets of Central America and Oceania helped him to victory despite opposition from Europe, the US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. It allows him to carry on his 17-year reign as president despite having previously promised to stand down in 2015. Blatter has been at Fifa for 40 years, since his now disgraced predecessor João Havelange personally plucked him from watchmaker Longines to lead the commercialisation of the World Cup that has seen revenues rise in direct correlation with endless claims of bribery and kickbacks. In his closing speech to delegates, his third of the day in comparison to the 15 minutes ahis rival was afforded, the Swiss returned to familiar themes. “What football needs right now is a strong leader, an experienced leader, a leader who knows all the ins and outs of the situation,” he said. Just as he did four years ago, when he promised a “roadmap of reform”, he called on the 209 members to trust him, promised to “fix Fifa” starting tomorrow and made light of his age and the 17 years he has been at the top. “What is this notion of time? Time is infinite and we slice it up. I find the time I’ve spent at Fifa is very short and it will remain short.” To applause inside the bubble of the Fifa Congress, Blatter added: “I would quite simply just like to stay with you.” www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/29/sepp-blatter-reelected-fifa-president-fifth-term |

Germany's U20 World Cup team ready to go in New Zealand https://cache2.asset-cache.net/gc/470537618-team-of-germany-u20-before-the-4-nations-gettyimages.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=GkZZ8bf5zL1ZiijUmxa7QYVZZeA3mm6RhWK%2F5mdDUvRiyp%2BrNj0crHbgIrdOJMfGwRZ2vc2Mmsj5Izl6fZiaWQ%3D%3D Germany's under 20 side are looking to follow up their U19 success of last summer, when they take to the field in New Zealand over the coming days. The team boasts a host of Bundesliga young talent. Football these days is fixated on discovering the latest up-and-coming superstar. Skills that take years of honing and effort are crunched into two-second Vines for the modern consumer. That, you can expect a great deal of this summer. Europe's top scouts will descend on New Zealand from May 30 to June 22 for the 20th FIFA U20 World Cup with Germany, Argentina, Brazil and Portugal all represented. It's certainly not the youth football tournament that will attract the headlines in Europe this summer - that will likely be the U21 European Championships in the Czech Republic in June - but the U20 World Cup still resonates internationally. To South American nations, this is the chance to compare its elite talents with those of modern European academies. Like the Olympic Football Tournament, success at the U20 World Cup is the holy grail of youth football especially in South America. Remember: this is the tournament that has delivered Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho and Neymar, Sergio Aguero and Oscar, to name just a few. Two years ago in Turkey, Paul Pogba, the all-encompassing midfielder at Champions League finalists Juventus, was the tournament's breakthrough player when he won with France. 'We're targeting top-four' For many of the possible future internationals in the Germany squad, the tournament will also be very important for their career development. None of the country's traditional rivals, such as, Spain, Netherlands, France or England have qualified for the tournament this summer. "The anticipation is huge," said head coach Frank Wormuth. "I'm confident we will play a good part in the World Cup. "In our squad, there are six players from the Bundesliga, four from the second division, four from the third division and seven from the league below that," he explained. "This is a very good mix for us." The 20-man squad also comprises ten U19 European Champions from last summer including Bayer Leverkusen's talented forward Julian Brandt and Frankfurt's hard-working midfielder Marc Stendera. Schalke's backup keeper Timon Wellenreuther is a late inclusion to the squad, whilst Davie Selke, the top scorer at U19 Euros, is not included after being required at training camp for his new club, RB Leipzig. Julian Weigl from 1860 Munich will be going, despite it being confirmed on Thursday that he is bound for Borussia Dortmund. Representation of Germany's lower domestic leagues comes in the shape of Marvin Stefaniak from Dynamo Dresden and Freiburg-bound Tim Kleindienst who is contracted to Energie Cottbus. Germany will start their campaign on June 1 in the group phase against Fiji. They also have group stage matches against Uzbekistan and Honduras, which they'll be expected to win too. But, they could meet heavily-fancied Brazil or Portugal later in the competition. Germany's U20 World Cup squad: Goalkeepers: Daniel Mesenhöler (Cologne), Marvin Schwäbe (Hoffenheim), Timon Wellenreuther (Schalke) Defenders: Kevin Akpoguma (Hoffenheim), Thomas Hagn (Unterhaching), Marc-Oliver Kempf (SC Freiburg), Grischa Prömel (Hoffenheim), Niklas Stark (Nuremberg), Anthony Syhre (Hertha Berlin), Maximilian Wittek (1860 Munich) Midfielders: Robert Bauer (FC Ingolstadt), Hany Mukhtar (Benfica Lissabon), Matti Steinmann (Hamburger SV), Marc Stendera (Eintracht Frankfurt), Julian Weigl (1860 Munich) Attackers: Julian Brandt (Bayer Leverkusen), Jeremy Dudziak (Borussia Dortmund), Tim Kleindienst (Energie Cottbus), Felix Lohkemper (VfB Stuttgart), Levin Öztunali (Werder Bremen), Marvin Stefaniak (Dynamo Dresden) |

Isaac sucess scoring 3 goals at this training just shows how much a huge talent he is. The only thing he needs to work on is his confidence, which went low during his stint at granada. Iheanacho for sokari in mid field is not a bad idea bur i would prefer sokari in the midfield and iheanach on the left because of his defensive contribution, |

I have this strong feeling that Nigeria's golden generation is on its way. We will have a very strong super eagles team very soon and I believe this Flying eagles will make up 60% of that team. Remember we have very good players of this same age grade doing well in their clubs example are Alex iwobi 18, Godswill Ekpolo 19 and many other talented stars that England are currently using. But This world cup will signal the coming of a new age and winning brazil will break a jinx that will lead to so much more success. |
