A man in my area has just been arrested by the police because he unkownly help a criminal that he thought was shot by an armed robber or cultist and was running away from them, on his way home from work to a hospital. "the police get to know that the criminal has been rushed to the hospital by a man, so when the police men got to the hospital they arrested the man believing that he is an accomplince, "the shocking thing is that the criminal escaped without people knowing. "now the police are holding the man responsible for the criminal's escape and are denying him bail. "please what should be done?.

Clearly yor head is still not correct as usual...he returned from arm robbery work at 4am & then got arrested for tryin to rescues his theif partner shot by police......I don't see any tin wrong in him being arrested coz he a suspect...pirrrriod!

I don't agree with you. The reason why a lot of Nigerians die after accidenta or robbery attacks is because of situations like this. If you help anyone in a critical condition it's either you're the one who put the person in that condition or you're an accomplice.
Our police need to be better at investigating people instead of doing easy thing by assuming every good Samaritan is a criminal.
We can only save lives if we have compassion and if we know that we won't get into trouble for doing a good turn.

This is huge. Helping and reporting an innocent person that was shot will still land you in detention by the police, talk less helping a criminal that was shot, and worse a criminal that ends up escaping, that na serious gobe, who wan testify say u no be accomplice.

Nothing wrong with that bro, This is for security reasons. If the Guy is cleared he may be bailed, but If not I fear He has already been implicated. Aiding a Criminal is a serious offence, whether knowing fully or not. Is just unfortunate for this Guy. In Overseas, before aiding someone with Gun shot, You must seek security back up.

Even the hospital attendants should be arrested for attentding a man wounded with Gun shot without Police clearance. Is just unfortunate the man is Ignorant of Circumstance. He will never be allowed bail until He is cleared. Most of you don't know the implications, but since it involves Nigeria Police, Most of you have totally forgot about the other side.

Don't get offended. Sometimes I read here (NL) of how people leave accident victims to bleed to death. I never knew the reason, but now I understand. They are scared of helping even the innocent ones because they could get in trouble.

Dont say that again. You may be a victim of circumstance any time if you are not careful. We always may not understand everything that happen under the sun.

Nigerian police force should be pulverized. You don't jail someone without evidence. What are their evidence of his involvement in the crime?. In a developed world, CCTV would prove his innocence and subsequent identification of the culprit and his arrest. Actions like this is going to deter people from helping those in a crime scene who need help.

Which CCTV? must it be everywhere. Let me tell you, in US no Olodo will aid an unknown victim of Gun short without Police clearance. Asssuming is in the west, this guy is in hot soup. This should be a lesson

At these age, you cannot differentiate between accident Victim and a gun shot victim. If the Man is contemporary enough, He should have reason that Gunshot can come from anybody either the police or Robbers.

Never ever trust anybody you personally don't know. And don't get involve even if you are a police man here. How do you know the guy is not an accomplice? you don't want to end up next to him. after few hours of beating the guy would nominate you as their boss.

This is where the citizens of this country will continue to have problems,now in the cause of trying to help somebody the man has goten himself into trouble,Is nigeria police no more capable to conduct thorough investigation to ascertain the truth in the whole matter rather than ponishing the enocent man.My question now is has it become a taboo for one to render help to a dieing person,Nigeria police is scaring people from helping a dieing person who knows the next victim may be those who have introduce this wickedness the police may be,may GOD help us in this wicked system

With gunshots, and average modern man will not reason were the gunshots came from? Bro the truth is that is applicative in terms of security, aiding somebody with gunshot wounds. Unless you were an eye witness that He suffered it from Robbers. But this the man has no security prove to show He wanted to aid a Wounded man. you sounded so foolish, wat if the man dt was shot happened to b an innocent, the man in question acted gud way and I believe d police we have in Nigeria doesnt help matters wen it comes to situation like ds. I pray d man will regain his freedom wen he make himself known to d police and God give police listening ear to hear d man and free him

Let's be honest for a second please, assuming you came across an accident victim & you volunteered to help, I'm sure nobody will want to investigate you for trying to help. We must understand that even hospitals don't hastily attend to gunshot wound victims without the Police being notified because of the fear of the unknown. I assume this is because there are no established laws in this regard. So in the case of the man who volunteered to help, if at all he is not an accomplice until ofcourse it is proven that he is not, the Police will have to investigate notwithstanding. Considering the fact that the man he brought to the hospital escaped probably under his watch also poses questions...
