Hello joyfulmother, welcome to the forum and may your stay here be short. I went through your writeup and I want to ask if you have taken care of the fibroids. If the fibroid is not too large and not in the uterine cavity, then you can proceed with the ivf but f it is, I would advice you take care of it to increase your ivf success. Hormonal imbalance can be corrected through the use of drugs. Tell your doc to prescribe drugs which should be taken at least 3months b4 ur procedure, same with other supplements like omega3 fish oil, folic acid, coq10 and Dhea for good egg quality if you are using your own eggs.
I don't know anything about premature menopause, neither have I used MAC and bridge clinic but I am sure our other mamas will be here soon to answer your questions. In all, pray and God will surely bless you with that which you most desire.

@sugah, ivf costs 350k for the main procedure, then you budget between 350 and 400k for the drugs; u might use less or more depending on your response. His registration is 20k while cost of tests for both u and ur hubby is between 60 and 70k. Hope this helps.

If you are experiencing infertility, you are not alone. Recent statistics indicate that about 2.1 million married couples experience infertility, and 6.1 million women between the ages of 15 to 44 have an impaired ability to have children. Studies have also found that 9.2 million women made use of infertility services at some time in their life. Because fertility issues are so prominent, it is important to understand infertility, its causes and risk factors.

What is infertility?
Infertility is defined as the inability to become pregnant after a year or more of sperm insemination or well-timed, unprotected vaginal intercourse. Infertility may be a temporary or a permanent condition; this depends on the available treatments, the cause, and the fertility of the partner at any particular point in time.
Infertility is often incorrectly considered "the woman's problem". To improve the couple's chances of conception a child together, both the man and the woman should be evaluated, and treated, if necessary. A complicated process, conception depends upon many factors:
ability of the fertilized egg (embryo) to become implanted in the woman's uterus
a good quality embryo
production of healthy sperm by the man and healthy eggs by the woman
sperm's ability to reach the egg
sperm's ability to fertilize the egg when they meet
unblocked fallopian tubes that allow the sperm to reach the egg

The definition of infertility includes:
Primary infertility - women who have never achieved pregnancy
Recurrent miscarriage- women may receive a diagnosis of infertility miscarriages if they experience two or more successive miscarriages
Secondary infertility - women who have achieved pregnancy and given birth, but are now having difficulty conceiving

Causes of infertility

There are many potential causes for infertility or reproductive problems. Chronic illnesses, as well as their treatments, can lead to fertility problems, Illnesses like diabetes and hypothyroidism can cause fertility problems. Insulin, antidepressants, and thyroid hormones may lead to irregular menstrual cycles, for example. Or medication used to treat peptic ulcers or hypertension can cause male factor infertility, including problems with sperm production or their ability to fertilize the egg. Furthermore, cancer treatments can lead to fertility problems, especially radiation therapy near the reproductive organs. Some sexually transmitted diseases can block the fallopian tubes, making pregnancy either impossible or putting a woman at risk for ectopic pregnancy.

Causes of infertility in women
Most cases of infertility in women arise from problems with ovulation. Without ovulation, there are no eggs to be fertilized. Irregular or absent menstrual periods are some signs that a woman is not ovulating normally. For example, birth control pills might temporarily alter female sex hormone production, which can take some time to restore after a woman stops birth control pills. This problem is usually temporary, but might take longer than the woman wants. Less common causes of fertility problems in women include:
blocked fallopian tubes due to pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, or surgery for an ectopic pregnancy
physical problems with the uterus
uterine fibroids
Causes of infertility in men
Sometimes a man is born with problems affecting his sperm. Other times problems arise due to illness or injury. For example, cystic fibrosis frequently causes infertility in men. Infertility in men is most often caused by:
problems making sperm -- producing too few sperm or none at all
problems with the sperm's ability to reach the egg and fertilize it -- abnormal sperm shape or structure prevent it from moving correctly
Risk factors:
age
alcohol
cancer radiation treatment and chemotherapy
environmental toxins, including pesticides and lead
being overweight or underweight
health problems that cause hormonal changes
medications (drugs)
poor diet
sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
stress
tobacco smoking
It is given that majority of the health problems (infertility inclusive) we face is as a result of what we eat or what we do not eat. It is also given that we cannot get all the nutrients we need to be healthy through our regular foods alone hence we need supplementation. Food is medicine; let your food be your medicine. Also remember that Doctors of tomorrow will not give drugs. Take your fertility challenge head-on today using the right supplements.

Hello All. Please is there anyone that has used or heard of the IVF in Bridge Clinic/LASUTH. What's the criteria for getting the subsidized IVF cost of N250,000?

I finally went to Bridge's Clinic in Lasuth yesterday . Total package I was given is thus:
Consultation: N20,000
Tests: N110,00(couple)
IVF: N300,000 (no longer 250k)
Drugs: from N250,000

TOTAL N680,000 (Criteria for this is a 3months pay slip/account statement to prove you're a below average income earner. Earning like a total of n300k monthly as a couple)

Pls is there anyone with an experience with Bridges clinic? Kindly share. Thanks

@joyfulmother
please dont contact anybody privately on this forum..ignore that request.

Someone rightly asked you a question..What is the condition of the fibroid? That should be your major concern and could actually be the cause of your delay.

on the egg friendly supplements that can help ur situation are, Bee pollen, Royal jelly, then take your folic acid.

Sorry, i dont have info on the hospital.

Many you smile soon IJN.

@Sugah: the subsidized is only done at lasuth. However, the bridge's clinic itself charges over 1. something million per cycle. You can Google them for their contact.

Thanks. My doc reffered me to Bridge/LASUTH. My question is, is the subsidized fee at lasuth only for those with a salary of 300k or less or is it the price for everyone.

I just got news that my friend is pregnant with her 3rd child,.(i got married 2 yrs before her). The testimony for me is: i'm genuinely happy for her without that inner feeling of why me? I used to fall into depression @ the mention of pregnancy. Today, I just lifted my hands and said
MY DEPRESSION DAYS ARE OVER
ENOUGH OF THE PITY PARTY
I AM BLESSED AND MY CHILDREN ARE HERE
I WILL DO EVERYTHING WITHIN MY POWER AnD LEAVE GOD TO DO HIS PART. ANYTHING NOT FUNCTIONAL IN OUR BODIES IS REPAIRED, THAT WHICH CANNOT BE REPAIRED WILL REPLACED.
IT WILL END IN PRAISE 4 US IN 2015

I suggest you visit the website and contact the firm.
From what i know, aloft has understandings with medical facilities in europe and israel. Recently the announced Poland also.
I know for all proceedures, aloft takes charge of everything such as testings, documentation and choosing your facilities for you. All you need to do is choose your country of choice. They also provide airport pickup and 10days complimentary hotel accomodation with sight seeing after completion of proceedure.
For every proceedure i think they ask for a unique document... if you have not had an investigation that is needed, they arrange you for the investigation because they do not just accept any test result from anywhere.
All around i think they have good services... they even provide you a personalised English speaking doctor to accompany you through the process..
