Good evening everyone. Please can someone tell me if a Nigerian Law graduate can study for masters in Canada without doing any additional program before the masters, seeing as Canada is also a common law country? I don't know if I captured the question well but pls I need an answer. Thanks.

I'll also appreciate it if anyone can suggest a University apart from unis in Quebec. Thanks in advance.

Try Nova Scotia, I met someone once who did her Masters in Law there, she mentioned not having had to do any other program prior to being admitted.

OMG! Hi! cheesy It's E-business stream

What stream are you? I'm curious, is there really any major difference between the two?

From recent study If you're going for PHD or masters I wud say it isnt.....buh mehn...From the statistics we have here from results of applications age is always a huge factor for llower level programs...
There might be unique cases...buh I feel they are very rare...

Bro, age is not and will never be a barrier to the V.O just present a well written statement of purpose, and be upright. That should do.

E-biz stream. E-biz is for people with biz background, and we do a lot of business related courses, but E-tech is for computer people.. Though we do some related courses sha.

Okay. Well, I'm sure it doesn't necessarily apply yeah?
I do love how the course generally accommodates people from different backgrounds, not constricting.
How has it been for you so far?

Hi, congrats.

As soon as you're able to gather all your necessary documents. It's never too early to get your study visa as long as it's for your stipulated resumption date.

Please,I need any info on Msc. Electrical/Computer Enginering Canada.
I have University of Alberta in mind, but I could fall back to any good University.
Secondly someone Said that I must do a premasters before I start the normal program, even when I have a CGPA of 4.1
Thirdly I want to know if I must take an English exam before being considered for admission or Visa.

Your contributions are urgently needed pls.

a 4.1 gpa....u r well due to be admitted straight for a master's degree and if u go the thesis route and find a supervisor...there is a high probability u might even get funding...
Most Canadian universities waive English test for Nigerian students...however it is advisable to mail the schools u r interested in to get relevant information
best of luck

Yeah, you will surely meet people from different educational background, it has been really challenging, but am done with all those courses now. If you are doing research based that is MEBT and not MSC, then be ready for so many courses, just be ready for mad work.

bro aws the average cost of living like in Regina in terms of Feeding and Accommodation monthly?
for monthly feeding rent and bills like 600 should be ok, depending on how much your house rent is and what phone plan you are running.

Please would your answer be different if one has a 3.6 cgpa. A friend is presently searching for top law schools and the results are unfavourable.

@justica,i think there are some questions tht need to be addressed by ur sponsor.
1.How many dependants does ur aunt hve?
2.What is the assurance tht the funds frm your aunt is available for you?
3.Why is your aunt spending tht much on you.Wht does she stand to gain?
So i think you need a detailed letter of sponsor cos there is more than just presenting a SOA wit huge funds.
Note:Try search for @pchax letter nd declaration of sponsorship,it is well detailed
Hello dear, thx for ur observation. All three points u raised was covered in my aunt's Letter of Sponsorship. First, she stated that her only two children are primarily dependent on her husband; Second, she stated she wanted to pay my first tuition instalment buh she is informed that payment is scheduled for September; Third, she stated that she feels obligated to sponsor me cos she couldn't have achieved her own dreams without my Dads guidannce n assistance. So u see, its detailed. The only other thing that I feel she should have stated is that I will be legal consultant to her company when I return, buh I can put that in my letter of explanation..

@feistyoly, U can do ur LL.M without a Pre-LL.M as long as u meet the requirements for LL.M. Its as simple as that. Am goin for LL.M in York Uni and I didn't do any Pre-LL.M. I don't even think most schools do that, not sure though. Buh its just like sayn u wana do PGD in Law which is seriously scarce in Canadian schools. So just look for a school that u can meet their requirement and the admission is urs. Look at York Uni, Uni of Calgary, Dalhousie Uni, Uni of Alberta, Queens Uni n a few others. Safe!

Guy,u are getting things completely wrong here, we all know not aall countries are treated equally.....bbut that's not my headache really.
Nobody said it's a guarantee if ure sponsored by anyone...
Anyone who is fifty cud go ahead and apply, it really doesn't affect me. But I wud take it against me if I dnt say what I feel which is obviously not CIC certified.

U cud really do well to give an example of a Nigerian who got his TRV at that age so we can also learn about how he did his.

It's all about learning bro.

I'm almost 30. I got my TRV and study permit for an undergraduate course. When I told you I'm a proof of this what did you think I was saying?
